What are your plans for the future after a huge 2015, and any messages for The Source? This year I have an EP planned, I will also be releasing another one in the very near future with Davinche (another dream producer which I should’ve but didn’t include in the previous question). But yeah me and Davinche have done a number of tracks featuring some relatively unknown London artist you may have heard of, think his name’s Stormzy, ha! I also hope to do my first successful headline show and maybe lick down some festivals in the summer.

Number 11 - DAVINCHE Between 2002 and 2007, DavinChe produced many of grime’s biggest hits, including “P’s and Q’s” and “Brown Eyes” by Kano. Together with hits by Tinchy Stryder and Tinie Tempah, these tracks, with their pop song structures and clean-cut videos, were responsible for grime's crossover into the U.K.'s mainstream media. With solo productions that are so elaborate they could have been composed with a seven-piece orchestra, DavinChe moved on to work with more singers on R&G tracks. This year, though, he made a hardcore grime comeback with both his solo instrumental EP VinchOnacci 2.0, and a six-track EP he produced for Nottingham’s golden boy Mez, titled M1. The latter featured “Lex Luther,” a jewel of a record with Stormzy, reminding us of DavinChe’s ability to wrap dirty grime lyrics around melodic tones effortlessly.

MEZ - M1 EP REVIEW Date 27th July Posted by Adam Dee Mez - M1 EP Nottingham's very own Mez has dropped his brand new EP called ‘M1 EP’, and it has started to take the grime scene by storm, linking with some big names. A well timed release, after both Kano's and Skepta’s albums took over, the spotlight is now on the Nottingham crew's frontman. Speaking to Sian Anderson on her 1xtra show last Wednesday, Mez told us how he linked up with producer Davinche at Rinse then turned one song into one project, all thanks to Sir Spyro who said they needed to do a track together. The first track is an intro where it sounds as if Mez gets into his car and joins the M1 motorway. The second track starts off with ‘sounds of the uncle, sounds of Davinche’, before the high energy beat kicks in. The first track the duo made, so it was only fitting to have it at the beginning. Next up is ‘Lex Luther’, featuring no other than Stormzy. Arguably the biggest name in the scene right now, it was only right having him on the Davinche track that sounds like it was from the Channel U days. Following Stormzy’s verse, Mez doesn't hold back with his aggressive flow, but you could say he's not a bad guy like Lex Luther! After that banger, one of the biggest breakthrough acts in the past year, AJ Tracey, delivers his intro before the heavy track ‘Shoulda Known Better' drops. A well crafted hook by AJ is followed by Harvey's So Solid inspired verses. Towards the end, you can't help but turn up and skank to the rest of the beat. In the final track of the EP, Mez is back off to his hometown after linking Stormy and AJ Tracey, with ‘London 2 Notz’ featuring singer Allana Verde. Allana’s voice combined with Mez’s flow, makes this one a certified banger in it's own right. A much slower track, but a perfect one to end on in what is a big project by one of the best producers and upcoming spitters. We look forward to seeing how this springboards Mez after his unique freestyles on 1xtra and Rinse fm, his magnum freestyle and his track ‘Madting’ with Bonkaz.
