Bible Verse of the Week
Hi there. Long time no see. My name is Alyssa and this is my blog... Apparently. You couldn't really tell because well, I haven't updated in forever. But that's the life of a new mom. It's hard to find time for much of anything anymore besides diapers, feeding, and helping my baby girl learn and grow into an incredible tiny human.
Because life has been so crazy, I have gone crazy. What used to fit nicely into "faith," "family," and "fitness," is now thrown about all over the place into some kind of life. For a Type A personality like me, that isn't working. I have definitely learned how to be more flexible and patient - looking at the positives - but I need more organization for my own sanity. I don't like being crazy and I'm sure my family doesn't either!
In my quest for "normal," I am going to start writing one bible verse a week on my family's dry erase board in our kitchen to help remind us all about faith and family. Then, I'm going to post and blog about it here. Stay tuned - I start my adventure tomorrow!

Sometimes, you just have to run it out. Run out the anger. Run out the frustration. Run out the pain. Run out the hopelessness. Run it out and make room for whatever can run back in. Peace, patience, forgiveness, hope.
our parents were right
I went for a run this morning. Not my greatest pace, not my greatest attitude but hey, I went for a run and that’s what matters, right?!
It feels good to get back out there, just me and the road. My time to think, to pray, to just be. It has been too long, and it feels good! I started running in October 2009 and was pretty consistent for over a year and a half… Then I got a little burned out, then pregnant, then really busy (read: lazy). Now. Now I miss running, I’m in the market for a jogging stroller, and I’m motivated! Seeing the lbs melt away from, you know, having baby and then the breastfeeding that follows can really make you want to work a little more for even better results. I’m just shy of my pre-pregnancy weight and my goal is to lose 10 more lbs after that by the end of the year. I. Can. Do it!
I guess what our parents said was right: sometimes you HAVE to do things you don’t WANT to do… even though I didn’t want to run this morning, I’m glad I did.
This new world of motherhood is a bizarre blend of junior-high insecurity and early-onset amnesia.

where has the time gone?
It's been a month since my first blog post and SO much has happened since then! The biggest and best change has been the most adorable addition to our little family: Baby Girl was born in the early morning hours on April 22nd and captured our hearts the moment we held her in our arms! The last month has been filled with cuddles, hugs, kisses, laughter... dirty diapers, 'round the clock feedings, crying... and most of all, Love. I can't believe how much I have fallen in love with my daughter. They say its unlike anything you've ever experienced and as I sit here watching her rock to sleep in her swing, I realize they (whoever they are, anyway) are so right.

Hey there - Thanks for checking out my blog! It's still a work in progress - obviously. In fact, it has quite a bit of work that needs to be done but rest assured, it's going to rock your socks off. Maybe just one at a time at first, but eventually, both socks will be rocked. That's my goal, anyway. I'm a 25 year old mama-to-be to the most adorable baby (I'm sure), a wife to the most incredible hubby (in my opinion), a fitness enthusiast (though it's taken a short hiatus during the whole feeling-like-an-overgrown-pregnant-hippo phase), and a lover of Jesus (and his pops, God). Hubs just opened his own insurance agency so that officially makes us small business owners. With the new agency and a baby due any day now, life has been pretty interesting, but we're doing our best to navigate through it keeping Faith, Family, Fitness and especially FUN in focus. Hope you check back soon - I'm excited to get to know you, friends!
