i think i've finally managed to articulate my issue with wesker's design in re4r. the problem is that he looks like any well-dressed fit white dude that you might encounter on the street, and wesker is a character that shouldn't be remotely forgettable or ordinary-looking. he needs to look like he's the outcome of a mad scientist's attempt to create the perfect platonic ideal of a blond man, only the machine malfunctioned 95% of the way through and he came out slightly fucked up and evil

i keep seeing people saying that wesker shot rebecca in the vest intentionally to spare her life, which makes no sense for a lot of reasons - the most obvious being that it would be flagrantly out of character for him - and also because 1) law enforcement/military personnel are trained to aim for center mass, which is what he did, and 2) he likely didn't realize that she was wearing kevlar, since s.t.a.r.s. didn't have standardized uniforms and he wasn't her direct superior.

aside from the desk photo thing (which was always dumb and tasteless and should never have made it into re2r/re9), i really don't get why people have the perception that wesker knew or cared about rebecca at all?? she was always just another loose end for him to tie up, same as marini and all the others
