The Bakunawa is a giant serpent or dragon in Philippine mythology. It is said to dwell in the depths of the sea and the skies. At night, the Bakunawa rises to swallow the moon, causing an eclipse. Out of fear, ancient Filipinos would ring bells, beat drums, and shout to drive the monster away and restore the moon’s light. The Bakunawa symbolizes human fear of the dark and the power of nature, which cannot be fully controlled.

Lily (scientific name:Lilium) is a hardy bulbous plants of the genus Lilium native to northern hemisphere.

This is an East Asian-style dragon, inspired by traditional Chinese and Japanese designs. It has a long, serpentine body covered in red scales, clawed limbs, and a fierce, expressive face with whiskers and sharp teeth. The dragon is surrounded by clouds and a red sun, which are common motifs symbolizing power, strength, and a connection to the heavens. The kanji on the sign roughly translates to ‘Stars bow to the moon,’ adding a mystical, celestial element to the design.

Found this old sketch of Big Ben from after my trip to London. I drew it once I got home, trying to hold onto the feeling of being there a little longer. It’s rough and imperfect, but it reminds me of long walks, grey skies, and how quiet the city felt when I stopped to actually look.
