Pass the time || open!
It was a tiring day. Sometimes, it always seemed like a tiring day. There was always something to be done, something to avoid being done, and sometimes? There was nothing to be done. And perhaps those days were the most tiring of them all, because honestly, better to have something to do than none.
Eli had been finding himself disinterested in the world lately. He remembered when his sister still lived and when all he did was ask questions about the world. All of them Ellie- 'Eleanore,' Eli found himself sighing out loud- answered dutifully. Why did the sun rise? Why did the sun fall? What's rain and why is it dark when it rains? Oh, if only Ellie was still alive. All the questions he could have asked to pass the time.
The boy looked up when he felt a breeze. He just had lunch, so he was allowed to wander the garden to help his stomach digest. His shoes, upon stepping on the grass, made various crunching sounds, and Eli couldn't help but ask himself why. Knowing there would be no answer, he just opted to sit down on the ground.
He could sit the entire day if he wanted. Just to pass the time.
