Loving you in replay (angst)
Leone Abbacchio x Bruno Bucciarati (implied)
Set in an alt universe where Abbacchio doesn't die
The evening was oh so gorgeous as Abbacchio walked along the pier. Yet even the soft noises of the waves crashing against the shore couldn't drown out the thoughts in his mind. Was it the lack of people making him feel worse? The while rendezvous with the 'boss' had happened a few weeks ago now. That's what it was like to everyone else. But to Abbacchio, it had been a few weeks since he'd lost the one man who made his life worth living.
Bucciarati's house overlooked the very beach Abbacchio was walking across, a sunken expression on his features. They'd been here together a few times. Alone. Those were often the times when things would get personal. The times when they'd run their hands through each others hair, across faces, down bodies. The images strike his mind like a bullet and Abbacchio immediately squeezes his eyes shut as if to get rid of them.
He was greatful the beach was empty, greatful no one could see him breaking down so helplessly. His eyes flickered back open. Oh yes, his eyes. He so vividly remembers Bruno telling him how his eyes reminded him of the setting sun. Was it coincidental that the sun happened to be setting now? Abbacchio thought it must've been the universe playing with his emotions.
The memory alone brought so much ease to his mind, but a harsh pain to his heart. He remembers them walking in the sea, listening to how Bruno laughed at him for flinching at the water like cat. Abbacchio remembers looking at him like he'd hung the stars just for him. He remembers...He remembers...He remembers...All he had left to do was remember.
Every since Brunos departure, Abbacchio found himself drinking more often. Drinking, passing out, then waking up to Brunos voice in his mind scolding him. He told himself everytime that he'd quit, quit it because Bruno would hate him for it. He'd done it once for Bruno, why couldn't he bring himself to do it again? Abbacchio knew the answer like the back of his hand, simply just afraid to admit it.
His feet moved on their own, bringing him to sit on a lone beach chair. Maybe if Bucciarati were still here, they'd go a sit right against the shore, resting against each other, unbothered by how the water wet their clothes, like they'd done so many times before. Abbacchio sighed, mumbling out the words 'Moody blues', calling out his stand.
He knew what he wanted to do. It was unhealthy, being caught up by grief like this. He told himself this is the last time he'd do it. His stand moved towards the sea. It didn't take long to rewind back two months or so, didn't take long for Bucciaratis form to come into view. Bruno moved, going right up to the shore, sitting, then leaning his head on something. Abbacchio was that something.
He got up, rushing to Bruno, beginning to mimic the movements that complemented his. Bucciaratis mouth moved but no words came out. Abbacchios head was tilted slightly to look at Bruno. He looked so pretty. He was a star to Leone, the star in his night sky. His own eyes pricked with tears, one slipping down his cheek. So pretty, but no longer his. He wanted Bucciarati to look at him like that too, but he was just a copy, a product of his stands doing.
He could look at him, listen to him forever, even if he didn't speak. He'd do anything for a few moments more with the man who saved him, loved him. But until then, he was here, loving him in replay.
