So i'm studying metallogenesis and we're identifying minerals microscopically and i'm looking at the book for magnetite
And right underneath is malachite
And given that it's monday and i've played skyrim all weekend i'm like omigd skyrm !
Anyway i scroll down and in polarised light malachite looks like this
That....looks suspiciously like the sky background when you improve your skill trees
Or maybe it's just me seeing skyrim everywhere i look idk
Thought that was gold....i'm such a fool
If you know you know
I'm supposed to find discontinuities in a granodiorite cirque in Andorra and hehe i can't find shit
I have no idea what i'm supposed to do next but hey it's pretty cool
Using tumblr for both dc comics stuff and geology is so weird in term of contrast between the two.
Where are the geology shitposts ? Where are the stupid shower thoughts about rocks and stuff ? Where are the lil arts and the mildly interesting field trip anecdotes ? Why is it so serious ? What are the good # i should follow ? Where is everyone ?
I'm shit at drawing outcrops......
...
...
... But i'm having fun
i look normal but on the inside i'm actually heavily water eroded and am at a high risk of sinkhole formation. probably shouldn't build anything here.
i refer to every force of nature as she/her:
the rain? i love her. a tornado? she's so intense. a volcanic eruption? she is breathtaking
Reading posts like this when your language uses gendered words
i guess people several centuries ago agree with you on rain tornado and eruption
There's something empowering with holdind a geology hammer
And when you walk with it in hand and it fits perfectly with the curve of your hand like hell yeah love it
You know, when like
Like hell yeah the weight is well distributed and like
😔👌
I like granite i just think they're neat
This looks like a fake roller coster
It's from the Pink Granite Coast on the northern coast of Britany, France.
It's pink because the felspath is altered.
Bonus : seagulls
Biblically accurate underground fractures network
Be not alarmed
What i thought i was going to study :
What i care about now :
A geology map ?
PERRY THE GEOLOGY MAP !!
Reposting it here
Maybe it's the pill for motionsickness (which makes me sleepy and completely high), maybe it's the fact i've had a fever for 3 days or maybe it's because i slept 5h in the last few days but oh boy the floor at my train station is freaking cool i need to know more
It looks like it's loads of bivalves but i'm really bad at identifying even when i'm not tripping

You ever feel emotional over a mountain ?
I give you :
Sainte Victoire, my beloved 😔i would die for you, sweetheart.
The Sainte Victoire is a mountain next to Aix en Provence in the South East of France, where i grew up.
I took the first picture during my last afternoon hike with my mom before i left the south of France after high school. The second picture was taken this christmas out of my train window.
I'm very emotionally attached to it, it's my childhood mountain. I could see it from my high school and from my village everyday. Now i only see her at christmas.
It's mostly jurassic limestone.
Those maps are from Rockd on the left and info-terre on the right (si ya des français qui passent par là allez voir info-terre il y a la carte géologique de la France plus plein d'autres cartes)
I think it's most famous for having been painted by Paul Cézanne so here are some of his paintings
(i had the second painting as a postcard and i put it on the wall of my dorm when i left the south)
