is it bad that i wish i had more lgbt+ friends even tho i love my friends a lot it’s just that most of them are straight and sometimes it’s hard to relate to them and like completely be myself around them because they don’t really get it or have the same interests but i just don’t know if lots of other lgbt+ ppl also feel the same way or if i’m just like a bad person so pls tell me your thoughts or like don’t idm

i think that’s completely understandable. while i’m sure you love your straight friends it’s understandable to want to connect on a level with someone who understands what you go through in discovering yourself and overcoming struggles you face in a rather heteronormative society. i have a lot of straight friends, and i love them a lot! but there are some conversations i can’t have with them that i can have with a friend who might be LGBT. it may sound “bad” written on paper, but the want for a personal conmunity of lgbt friends is natural and i dunno i feel like it could even be expected

maybe try finding lgbt friends online? that’s the easiest place to find new friends period, i think. maybe even try joining a gsa club at your school (if you have one) and see where it goes from there? i think you’ll naturally find more lgbt friends as you go through life, especially if you find yourself in lgbt safe spaces
