NO  TIME  TO  MAKE  UP  AN  EXCUSE  OVER  THE  PHONE  .   but  there  was  definitely  no  time  to  come  up  with  one  now  ,  at  the  sound  of  a  car  horn  blaring  over  a  typically  quiet  neighborhood  .    only  to  be  followed  by  a  distinct  voice  .   leaving  the  sanctity  of  his  bedroom  felt  like  a  chore   ---    but  he  knew  how  much  better  he  would  feel  outside  in  the  fresh  air  .   away  from  a  family  that  ,  ultimately  ,  failed  him  .   so  a  bag  was  draped  over  his  shoulder  quickly  before  rushing  outside  to  meet  her  .   no  time  to  kiss  his  mother’s  cheek  goodbye  ,  no  time  to  explain  where  he  was  heading  off  to  .   hell  ,  he  wasn’t  even  sure  himself  .    passenger  door  was  plied  open   ‘n  bag  was  tossed  into  the  back  seat  .   crackers  ‘n  water  tucked  away  nicely  inside  in  case  of  emergency  .   charlie  buckled  his  seat  belt  before  a  smile  was  offered  to  her  .    ❝     REMIND  ME  AGAIN  WHY  WE’RE  IN  A  RUSH  ?    ❞

AFTER  CHARLIE’S  INITIAL  SUSPENSION  ,  he  got  into  an  altercation  with  his  father  .   him  removing  his  belt  ,  charlie  feeling  gutsy  ‘n  telling  him  what  a  bang  up  job  he’s  done  as  a  husband  ‘n  father  .   the  buckle  end  of  the  belt  swung  ‘n  hit  charlie’s  shoulder  .    BUT  THE  SECOND  SWING  CAME  QUICK  ‘N  CAUGHT  HIM  OFF  GUARD  .    the  metal  came  down  along  his  face  ,  ripping  into  his  cheek  ‘n  blood  rushed  down  .   neck  suddenly  wet  like  he’d  been  doused  in  warm  water  .   carl  decker  would  take  his  only  child  to  the  hospital  under  the  excuse  that  the  boy  had  tripped  over  stove  wood  in  the  garage  .    six  stitches  were  needed  ,  a  scar  was  ultimately  left  .

THE SUMMER BEFORE HIS JUNIOR YEAR   at placerville , charlie attended a party with a few friends.    a girl he had been eyeing the majority of the night had taken him out the back door of the home that led to the sandy beach.   perhaps it was  nerves   ——   or even the pot.    either way , he had completely lost any sign of arousal .    no amount of  touching , groping  ,  or exploring her body could bring it back to life.    mind was attempting to think of something sexy.    anything sexy.       ———      then , of all things to come to his imagination , he saw his father with his hunting knife.   talking about the cherokee nose job.     that was it.    clothes came back on.    he eventually went home.     in the comfort of his bed   ——  he dreamed of his bedroom door being burst open with an  awful  crack.      IT WAS HIS FATHER.    his mother in his arms.    her nose had been slit wide open   &   blood  streamed down her face.    “ you want her ? “   he said.   “ here , take her , you worthless good-for-nothing.   take her. “   he threw her body down on charlie’s bed   ——–   &   he saw that she was  dead.    he woke up screaming.         ———————       with an  e r e c t i o n.
