It came from an old tradition, some act of Parliament, about Eton or something. Private school. He had to come to grips with American English. Private school. Her hair curled around her shoulders, fell down at the back. Black hair. Dyed black? Newton couldn’t tell. All he could speak about was about what he knew. He and Cathy had met once before, heard such stories of private school. Newton couldn’t catch her eye. He spoke slowly, still turned away, eyes tracking the puddles as the rain fell. “Cathy, may I ask, are you still a nurse?” She was a nurse now, wasn’t she? “It’s” — he paused, considering the oddity of his words, but he went ahead — “an, as they say, ‘a real responsible job.”

sabrina barely registers that the other has said something, because of the rage building inside her. if not for those three words in particular - you owe me - she would’ve been silent for the rest of the night. but her head snaps around so her eyes can latch onto angela, glaring at her. ‘ oh, so that’s it huh? i owe you, but you don’t owe me back after everything? how typical. ’ she doesn’t really mean it, but everything that’s happened ever since the two met has been building up slowly, & finally it’s become too much. she’s EXPLODING after months of keeping it all under control. ‘ if i owe you, then why the hell are you the one helping me? shouldn’t you just be constantly putting pressure on me to pay my debt to you, & then leave after that? is that what all this has been for? don’t get it confused - i am SABRINA SPELLMAN, & i don’t need anyone’s help. so if you’re just here to get what you’re owed, leave. i’m not trusting someone who cares only for what they can get instead of what they can give. ’ her voice is fierce & her eyes aflame with anger - sabrina is finally allowing in her dark side.
