The CDC is recommending hospital staff use bandanas when masks run out. Hospitals are asking the public to sew masks. Here is a physician responding:
"Please don't tell me that in the richest country in the world in the 21st century, I'm supposed to work in a fictionalized Soviet-era disaster zone and fashion my own face mask out of cloth because other Americans hoard supplies for personal use and so-called leaders sit around in meetings hearing themselves talk. I ran to a bedside the other day to intubate a crashing, likely COVID, patient. Two respiratory therapists and two nurses were already at the bedside. That's 5 N95s masks, 5 gowns, 5 face shields and 10 gloves for one patient at one time. I saw probably 15-20 patients that shift, if we are going to start rationing supplies, what percentage should I wear precautions for?
Make no mistake, the CDC is loosening these guidelines because our country is not prepared. Loosening guidelines increases healthcare workers' risk but the decision is done to allow us to keep working, not to keep us safe. It is done for the public benefit - so I can continue to work no matter the personal cost to me or my family (and my healthcare family). Sending healthcare workers to the front line asking them to cover their face with a bandana is akin to sending a soldier to the front line in a t-shirt and flip flops.
I don't want talk. I don't want assurances. I want action. I want boxes of N95s piling up, donated from the people who hoarded them. I want non-clinical administrators in the hospital lining up in the ER asking if they can stock shelves to make sure that when I need to rush into a room, the drawer of PPE equipment I open isn't empty. I want them showing up in the ER asking "how can I help" instead of offering shallow "plans" conceived by someone who has spent far too long in an ivory tower and not long enough in the trenches. Maybe they should actually step foot in the trenches.
I want billion-dollar companies like 3M halting all production of any product that isn't PPE to focus on PPE manufacturing. I want a company like Amazon, with its logistics mastery (it can drop a package to your door less than 24 hours after ordering it), halting its 2-day delivery of 12 reams of toilet paper to whoever is willing to pay the most in order to help get the available PPE supply distributed fast and efficiently in a manner that gets the necessary materials to my brothers and sisters in arms who need them.
I want Proctor and Gamble, and the makers of other soaps and detergents, stepping up too. We need detergent to clean scrubs, hospital linens and gowns. We need disinfecting wipes to clean desk and computer surfaces. What about plastics manufacturers? Plastic gowns aren't some high-tech device, they are long shirts/smocks...made out of plastic. Get on it. Face shields are just clear plastic. Nitrile gloves? Yeah, they are pretty much just gloves...made from something that isn't apparently Latex. Let's go. Money talks in this country. Executive millionaires, why don't you spend a few bucks to buy back some of these masks from the hoarders, and drop them off at the nearest hospital.
I love biotechnology and research but we need to divert viral culture media for COVID testing and research. We need biotechnology manufacturing ready and able to ramp up if and when treatments or vaccines are developed. Our Botox supply isn't critical, but our antibiotic supply is. We need to be able to make more plastic ET tubes, not more silicon breast implants.
Let's see all that. Then we can all talk about how we played our part in this fight. Netflix and chill is not enough while my family, friends and colleagues are out there fighting. Our country won two world wars because the entire country mobilized. We out-produced and we out-manufactured while our soldiers out-fought the enemy. We need to do that again!

I'm still not going to technically answer the ask because it's my blog and I'm not going to put your dumbassery on it... however I feel like you could benefit from some examples of how people can be in a relationship and still maintain individuality--including friends and interests outside of the relationship.
These are only examples from my own marriage. This is also clearly not an exhaustive list. But should help you see that a trip without your partner does not negate our relationship. Just as Jimin's travels without Koo doesn't negate theirs.
1. Roadtrip from MN to OH for random Hanson show. ALONE
2. Roadtrips to Tulsa, OK for HDay weekend. With friends. WITHOUT my husband. MULTIPLE times.
3. Trip to Texas for a speaking engagement. ALONE
4. Trip to Florida for a convention. ALONE.
5. Trip to Chicago for BTS. With my little. WITHOUT my husband.
6. Trip to Milwaukee for a photoshoot. With a friend. WITHOUT my husband
7. Trip to Duluth for photoshoot. With friend. WITHOUT my husband
8. MULTIPLE trips to visit friends. WITHOUT my husband.
9. My husband likes TechN9ne. I do not. He went to the show. I did not.
10. My husband likes Psychostick...goes to their shows without me.
11. My husband kayaks...without me
12. I have friends I hang out with, and he has his. Sometimes together, sometimes not.

13. We have ENDLESS ways we're not alike, but that doesn't lessen the love and respect we have for each other
.... this is normal and healthy in relationships. Thinking it's not just shows how immature, ignorant, and misled you are.
I also go fishing without you, eat spicy foods, go to the bar and watch sports, create my fantasy football team and if i had friends with free time probably play D and D with them.
Though some our interests are dissimilar does not mean we don't love and care for one another. She loves BTS and I head bang and mosh at Psychostick shows. She loves fruity drinks where you can't taste the alcohol, I enjoy the burn and taste of an aged whiskey. She enjoys dance shows I like South Park. Fanfics are Comic books.
Relationships aren't all about our similarities they are also about differences and loving supporting each other with those differences. And we have loved each other for 9 years and we've celebrated our 5th anniversary this summer. I love you @promisenolies .

Remember them
On this day 75 years ago a great coalition of men and women from many nations dropped from the skies, landed on beaches and fought in the streets and hedgerows of France to start an invasion from the west. They fought to help break the grip of tyranny in Europe and free people from an oppressive and murderous regime.

In honor of EMS week 2019 here is something that the FDNY EMS has to deal with. OUR WORK IS DIFFERENT!!
Firefighter Tim Duffy was one of the many who responded to the call that day. He rode his bike in to the chaos and made it to the steps of the south tower as it began to collapse. He was toppled by debris and when the 110th floor hit the ground, he was blown down the street and into a store front. He cleared the store and came upon a FDNY search and rescue brother who had a compound fracture and needed help. He loaded him and another wounded person and drove them to the hospital where the trauma doctors asked āwhereās the rest?ā He went back to ground zero and drove the truck he had commandeered into the ground looking for anyone he could assist.
This year he rode across the country to raise awareness for veterans and first responders who suffer from PTSD. A former seaman and now retired from firefighting due to the damage caused by 9/11, Firefighter Duffy continues to serve America and help those in need.
I wonāt ever forget where I was and what I was doing on that day and will ALWAYS remember 9/11 for the selfless acts of my brothers and sisters who answered the call on a day our country suffered such tragedy. The difference between heroes and superheroes is that heroes donāt have superpowers, they have huge hearts and an indomitable will. I want September 11th to be remembered for its heroes and their indomitable will that could not be stopped by terrorism.
