            his smile faltered, he always believed he could help with people - especially in phantom form. “why can’t i help you?” he questions, there was probably something he doesn’t know - but he wants to know, so he can help this young girl. “if you tell me, i might be able too help. you just never know.”

she wants to scream at this boy to leave her alone, wants to implode on herself because she knows what it’s like to be unsavable. she can’t be helped, she’s known that for a LONG time. but she doesn’t need to be helped. that’s what she tells herself.

angie has never been good at comforting people, but she pouts at the girl in front of her. she grabs her hand, running her thumb over chihiro’s knuckles.

eurydice bit her lower lip, wary about leading a child to a man like that. she didn’t know if she was a suitable canary for him or if he was malicious enough to replace her with a child. she had no way to know that the girl in front of her was a demigod, full of the power and comfort that eurydice craved (and left her love for). 

“who’s your mother? what’s your name?” she had a thousand questions, most of them for hades. she was less afraid of him that she should be, but for this CHILD, she would be fearless in his presence. “i’m eurydice.” she thought perhaps introducing herself might make the other feel a little safer.

angie is smart enough to know that names mean power, and her status is one that could easily be used against her. but she does not know what else to do. mother knows best, she tells herself. she wouldn’t have sent you here without a PURPOSE. without good reason. she should have made herself look older, should have brought weapons. hades would have no REASON to hurt her . . . right? 

when she meets the kind eyes of the woman named eurydice, angela cannot feel fear. there’s a warm sort of aura around her. mama always said to surround yourself with people who feel like light. eurydice feels like the sun in the dark of this HELLHOLE.

             ‘ angie. my name’s angie. my mama’s aphrodite. ‘

              Silena always there to play the big sister to her siblings, especially to those younger her. “Have you got your weapon picked?” She asked, just because they’re children of Aphrodite, doesn’t mean they don’t have weapons - Silena herself has a sword, one that fits right in her hand. Sometimes, it may take a while for each demigod to find their right weapon. “Or are we still looking for the right one?” It’s a harsh thought though, that kids as young as seven and eight need to carry such things.

angie looks up at her big SISTER (something she is still getting used to. she has never had a family like this, has never had a group of people to care for her the way they do. sometimes she thinks it is too good to be true.) her hands hold a small dagger, but they shake as they try to grip the hilt. she is not sure if she’s cut out for this the way the rest of them are, after all, she’s just a KID. but then again, aren’t they?

              ‘ i don’t know if i can do this. ‘ she whispers, voice far too soft and far too quiet.

angie does not trust men, and above all she does not trust boys. she is quick to almost close in on herself, making herself smaller as she tries not to implode.

hadestown was no place for older girls either, and eurydice was halfway to figuring that out for herself. her stomach was finally sated, but her heart ached now, in a way that it never had before. lost was the perfect word to describe the pair.

eurydice noticed her by her small whimper, and she immediately felt her soul swell in reproach. she wiped sweat and oil off her brow, freshly back from her shift on the wall, her signature on hades’ contract still burned into her memory.

she’d never encountered someone so young in this electric city, but to be fair, she hadn’t been there long. hades couldn’t have entrapped a child, could he? was he that vile, that his songbird wasn’t enough for him?

“i- yes, what’s wrong?” she knelt down, wary about touching the child, even though she wanted to hold and comfort her. she recalled when she was held and comforted. “what can i do?”

angie is a good daughter, that’s the only reason she’s here. but WHY her mother couldn’t have sent eros or perhaps one of her older, more experienced siblings, she does not know. but mother knows best (that’s what she’s been told, at least). she looks up at the woman, trying to pull herself together. she’s a demigod, after all. she can’t embarrass her mother by looking like a mess while on a quest for her. small hands wipe away gossamer tears as she stands to her feet. she cannot help but feel so terrified down here, and the woman kneeling in front of her is the only person who has shown her any sliver of COMPASSION.

                ‘ my mama needs me to find MR. HADES. she gave me instructions b-but                   i think i’m a little lost. do you know where i can find him? ‘

icarus looked tired, leaning on his staff as he did. ‘we’re both survivors in this,’ he said, blue eyes staring out to the middle distance. ‘don’t know what we’ve become.’

angie takes a shaky breath, her hands shaking a little too apparently. she looks up at the ONLY family she has and takes his hand.

                ‘ i am not sure i would call myself a survivor.'

HADESTOWN   is   no   place   for   little   girls   ,   no   place   at   all.   but   angie   had   ERRANDS   to   run   for   her   mother.   when   aphrodite   calls   ,   it   is   foolish   to   say   no.   but   she   is   young   &&   terribly   naive   ,    hence   why   she   gets   lost   so   very   easily.   she   lies   under    a   pomegranate   tree   ,   small   hands   shaking   with   fear   as   demons   &&   spirts   pass   her   by.   HADESTOWN   is   no   place   for   little   girls   ,   no   place   at   all.   but   she   meets   the   eyes   of   a   kinder   looking   spirit   and   wipes   her   tears.
