The teen’s tense shift in demeanor didn’t go unnoticed, though Ragna initially assumed it was due to what he had revealed. Ragna never liked talking much about his past, given the painful memories associated with it. There was a point where that pain of loss was a major defining trait of his very soul… And while that may still ring true to some degree, the Reaper now simply wants to keep moving forward. Dwelling on the past for too long won’t do much good anymore. But it’s only fair for Naoto to have a good understanding of what lead to Ragna becoming who he is now, given how unusually connected the two seem to be.
The follow up question first came off as odd. The “other Naoto’s” name… It didn’t seem like something worth thinking much about at first; why would the name be any different? Yet as if on instinct, the swordsman tried to recall the flashing memories of his other self, homing in on anything relating to Naoto…
It’s true that their dopplegangers did indeed have some sort of bond formed in that fabricated life. The boy would be a frequent visitor of his restaurant, with some occasions having the pair talk on and on whenever the chef was free… He recalled the youth being somewhat important compared to the average citizen, but the exact details are rather fuzzy… Yet as he tries to think back on any chance the boy’s name came up, his footsteps once again come to a stop.
Naoto… Kurogane? That should be his name, and yet… Kurogane sounds like a completely unrelated concept in the fabricated reality of the copies. That family name had nothing to do with the boy. So if Kurogane had nothing to do with Naoto in that scenario… does that imply that he went by a different name? Was whatever name he used in that reality an alibi? Or maybe… the current name is in itself the lie.
“… It’s pretty fuzzy. Anytime I think back on your name, I draw a blank on the family name… I’m sure the other ‘me’ knew it, but when I try to remember it… Nothing.”
“Any reason for that?”
There it was. He couldn’t act surprised. With what Ragna had just told him, Naoto had to know that his implications were going to be met with an air of hostility. After all, what exactly was he implying? Years of torture and pain, all brought about by a person who could possibly be related to him? He wouldn’t be shocked if Ragna lost his temper right there and tried to attack him.
That was why he wasn’t going to beat around the bush here. Whatever the truth was, Naoto needed to set the record straight. Even if he didn’t know who ‘Yuki Terumi’ was, he knew who he was. And even if what he was ended up being an heir who lost everything he once had...
“Who knows? Maybe the people in charged wanted me to tell you myself. I guess it doesn’t matter either way...”
He refused to simply allow his old family name to be dragged through the mud by a monster like that. Not after all it had already suffered.
“--’Kurogane’ was my mom’s family name. I took it after she died.” His voice was solemn, with a weight to it that he’d never spoken with in front of the Grim Reaper. “My original name, and the name of my clan... Was ‘Naoto Terumi’. I was the heir--the one who was supposed to lead the family into the coming years. That was before... ‘things’ happened.”
“I don’t have a damn clue who this ‘Yuki Terumi’ is. And I could never understand how badly this guy’s screwed up your life. But... If he had anything to do with my family... With me, in whatever twisted, multiversal-bullshit-way there is...”
He looked directly at the Grim Reaper.
“I’m sorry. And if this asshole ever shows up again, you can bet your ass I’ll be the first one there to tear him a new one. Consider that a promise from this punk.”
“Phew. Feel a little lighter, all of a sudden.”
so guess who finally got an english voice (and sounds... a lot cooler than he probably actually is)
when you realize ragna seeing terumi again is happening after naoto reveals his true name to ragna
“We all look stupid to one another. Different worlds have different fashion standards--take it from a guy who’s been there.”

“at least my style’s consistent”
consistently lame maybe
Talking mad smack for a guy who dresses like he lives at a con.
“We get it, ‘you fuck’--can you go do it without the megaphone plastered to your crotch announcing it every thirty seconds?”
“--Isn’t that a bit overkill?!”
That’s about all he can say to that.

You know… today was suppose to be a good day. Ragna spent all this time practicing on making chocolates for people he cared about, to try and take part of this White Day thing he’d heard so much about. And while it was getting rather late in the day, he had finally managed to put together enough chocolates to hand out as needed. All that was left was to clean up the kitchen and get ready to head out. But just as he was about done, his phone started blowing up with notifications. Over and over, the vibrations kept shaking to try and snag his attention. By the time he finally got his crimson coat on, he was too fed up to ignore it anymore.
”Ugh, damn– the hell’’s so important right now?”
But the news notifications he saw certainly weren’t what he was expecting. Golden Ward was in the middle of a riot problem now, and it seems like it keeps getting worse. And with Ragna all the way over in the Cotes Ward, it would take a while before he could even get there. But regardless, his expression quickly hardened as several emotions swept over him– shock, confusion… anger.
“You gotta be shittin’ me…! What the hell’s goin’ on?!”
Guess his White Day gifts will have to wait. He’s already out the door now, leaving his chocolates behind while instead bringing his sword with him. It may be too late by the time he gets there… But at the very least he can try to get updates on the situation.
TO: ??? FROM: RAGNA
[TEXT] You in Golden right now? What’s going on there??
He’d been expecting to get some sudden notifications and texts. Really, it was only a matter of time before this guy tried to get in touch with him.
He didn’t take too long to respond.
TO: Ragna the Bloodedge
FROM: Naoto Kurogane
[1]: unfortunately that’s a no
[2]: got stuck in fibonacci after whatever the hell this is got started
[3]: been running through news reports and social media. apparently the riot just ‘started’ without any warning.
[4]: nobody knows what the hell started this, but it’s bad. real bad.
[5]: cops’re trying to keep it under control, but something definitely smells off
The news of the chaos in the Golden Ward spread like wildfire--not unlike the riot itself. News reports all across the city, social media going crazy, and several places contacting workers to stay away from the danger. It was absolute chaos, with the origin of the riot being completely unknown to everyone.
It wasn’t unlike something had just... come over the people there. Like this was planned.
That was the impression Naoto Kurogane got, anyways.
“But, would the people in charge be behind this? Why would they...?”
He was still stuck in the streets of the Fibonacci Ward, his phone the only way he could keep up with the madness. He could only speculate on what exactly was going on. Whatever was happening, there was no way something this sudden just happened by coincidence. Naoto certainly wasn’t a genius, but this wasn’t his first time around. Somebody had to have planned this.
But... Even if he could infer that, he didn’t have a single clue as to the who on that. His only bet was that the head honchos got bored and decided to hurl the Golden Ward into chaos. But, if that were true, why? Did they even need a reason? He decided to dwell on that later.
It was tempting to jump in there and try and help as many people as he could. But with the crowds and police flooding in from every angle, getting in as he was would’ve been impossible. It wasn’t like he could use his strength to just jump over the crowd or something--that power hadn’t yet been returned to him.
Even still...
“...Something’s definitely up. Best keep my guard up...”
seithrveined replied to your post: “Oh boy, here’s this topic again…” ...
man, having to worry about your own life expectancy and/or the damage that could be caused by you sure does dampen the dating scene, right??

“Oh boy, here’s this topic again...”
Outside, he looks annoyed. Inside, he wishes he could happily join in.
Unfortunately, his odds of being in a happy relationship with someone are getting less and less likely with each passing day...

AH , yes — that loathsome nickname rears its horrid head once more. It seems to take even Rachel aback, a sharp raise of pale brows as she leans back on stilt-like heels. Her grip on Nago tightens so harshly and so suddenly that it elicits a YOWL out of him, and although she has no access to her elemental mastery in this godforsaken place, her voice is sharp enough to resemble a crack of thunder.
❝ You’re to address me as MADAM RACHEL , you mongrel — anything less deserves to be punished ! I shan’t be so forgiving the next time you suffer a slip of the tongue. ❞
Much to Nago’s relief, her grip lessens — and with a squaring-up of dainty shoulders, a refined air reappears. ❝ Hmph… At least your fire has returned. The only thing more insufferable than your ignorance, after all, is complacency. Then you might truly become the bystanders you loathe so much, hm ? ❞
He could only let out a loud huff at her remark. Really, he couldn’t have cared any less about her title or class. Even considering his own history, he had a hard time concerning himself with trivial things like that.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah.”
Though, he really shouldn’t have been so lax considering the girl could literally vaporize him in a violent bolt of lightning. Whatever, he was mad; she could zap him as hard as she liked for all he cared, it wouldn’t stop him.
“Hey now, don’t go getting things twisted. It’s not that I hate bystanders...” He clenches his fists, his eyes finding it difficult to focus on one particular thing. “I just can’t stand by and let something bad happen right in front of me.”
He takes a moment’s pause to look out at the city, his anger still boiling--this time, at a different target.
“It’s why I hated that damn city. And why I hate this damn island. It’d be bad enough if we were just here on our own, but to snatch our powers from us and make us to earn them back... I bet whoever’s running this show is having a good laugh, watching how powerless we all are.”
His fists tightened further. He wanted to get to the bottom of all this--and knock that smile off their face while he was at it.
