disastertourist:
… Is more than just a great title, it’s the great title of the new release from Scottish noise mongers, Mogwai. I was actually about to post something else today, but when I saw that one of my favourite bands had put their new album up for streaming in its entirety, I thought I’d better share.
Powerful, emotive (blablabla) and and with a trademark sense of humour (mainly evident through their song titles eg. “You’re Lionel Richie” and “Letters to the Metro”- Brits will understand that one) Mogwai have definitely cemented themselves as one of, if not the best instrumental band in the world, and are widely recognised as originators of the genre we now reluctantly label ‘post-rock’. While I haven’t yet had a chance to check out much of the new record, on the strength of their back catalogue and upon seeing the praise this album is receiving, I am expecting great things.
