News: Five Killed at Explosive Charity Event
An Asura, Sylvari, and three humans played in a band. It sounds like the beginning of a typical joke. But in this case, the troupe ends up killed by an explosion. Similarly, last evening’s Heart of Kryta Foundation Charity Event began just as any other would with pleasantries with a much louder climax than intended when the center stage exploded where the five band members were playing, killing them instantly.
The mechanical bomb had been hidden beneath the stage prior to the event to target its attendees. Among the crowd, many were wounded, including the host Lady Vice Legate Melanie Valen. Along with her wife, both were flung from the force and survived with various trauma.
In fact, the Valen claims that it is due to Black Citadel Envoy Kavic of the Shatter Warband that she even survived. “(He) was by the stage, I remember that. I think his position is the reason myself and my wife are not dead,” explained Vice Legate about the explosion.
The evening culminated when an assailant, name undisclosed, came to the forefront and shot at the Vice Legate six times from behind. The assailant was noted by witnesses as screaming “For Ascalon!”. The Vice Legate survived two bullet wounds and is in recovery, as are many others that were wounded and treated in the Aroma Teashop during the emergency.
The shooter was apprehended and taken into the Ministry Guard custody. At this time, it is unknown if the attack was separatist related.
News: Another One Bites the Dust; Merchant’s Coin Changes Ownership
By Tesse Centirum
Usually, when a business changes hands, it suffers or sees immediate improvements. Unfortunately for the Merchant’s Coin, it’s become the norm. In the last four years, it has seen over six different owners, most of which only claimed the popular tavern for less than half a year. Now, another challenger has entered the ring.
Scarlet Beckett, originally from Kessex, has bought the Merchant’s Coin from Maverra Goldenheart on 32 of Zephyr, 1332 AE. Even though the price has been kept private, Ms. Beckett assured us that she “got an excellent deal”.
This isn’t the first tavern that Ms. Beckett has spent time in. According to her interview with The Divinity Daily, Beckett spent the last fourteen months as manager for Maiden’s Whisper in Rurikton District and was “on loan” to Merchant’s Coin for about eight months prior to her purchase.
A transaction that seems to be bleeding over into the future of the popular Salma District tavern. Beckett explained: “The name remains the same, its such an iconic band at this point we would never dream of changing it. However, I have changed the business substantially in that I have effected a functional merger with the Maiden’s Whisper. Prices and inventory are now the same for the most part between the taverns and staff from either are free to rotate between them as needed or desired.”
Patrons seem to be responding well to the transition. In fact, there is more outstanding support now that Mr. Christopher Page from Maiden’s Whisper seems to also have an investment in the Merchant’s Coin. Some see the pair of him and Ms. Scarlet Beckett as co-owners, a positive assumption even though the full purchase agreement is confidential.
One Sylvari name Sylvan stated: “It has needed a strong present figure for a while. Honestly? It is more active now than it has been since I worked here.” Another, Karigan Gyren, shared that they felt the Merchant’s Coin “used to be a significant beacon of chaos” but that with the change in ownership, the tavern has improved for all of everyone.
Buck, long term bartender of the Merchant’s Coin, has refused to comment about the ownership transaction.
Despite the run time for most owners, Ms. Beckett seems to be determined to outlast her predecessors. All the power to her, but we at The Divinity Daily will keep our eye on the classifieds for the building’s next listing.
Opinion: The Vaxxination Against Divinity’s Freedom
Written by Anonymous
It’s been a common topic in taverns and bars lately: The Krytan Ministry is trying to remove the freedom of weaponry in Divinity’s Reach. But not just any weaponry! They are trying to get rid of the “dangerous” items smuggled into the city that could cause relevant harm to the people. So why is this such a big deal?
Because this is where it starts, folks. This is the beginning of the end! This Asura, named Vaxx, has already approached the Krytan Ministry just last month announcing that they wanted human test subjects for their experimentation. Now they are peddling a bill to deny humans the freedom of their choice of weapon, particularly magical artifacts, to defend themselves.
You heard that right. Vaxx claimed during the Open Session last month that he was approved to test on humans for medical purposes. Apparently, someone in our government saw fit to allow Asura a laboratory in the middle of our queen’s city and give them a line of people hard on coin to poke and prod at. How disgusting could you be?
Now, the Asura has been making public speeches in the Maiden’s Whisper and the Golden Sun even trying to sell his bill to the people as a method to “protect” them!
The upcoming Krytan Ministry open session will be on 42 Zephyr (February 11th at 5PM PST) Join us as we take a stand!
We say nay! We will not be swayed by foreigners that see us as specimens for their science experiments. We will not be swayed to hand over our freedom! What next will come? Nay to the demand of our voice!
Editor’s Notes: Divinity Daily! A Publication For The Queen’s City
Today is the day!
Mark your calendars because 39 of Zephyr, 1332 is the day that the people now have a voice! This marks the first of many publications coming to Divinity’s Reach.
It was a rainy morning in Divinity’s Reach when I first sat down with my co-writer to discuss the details. We didn’t know yet what we wanted to publish, but given that the only current publications making rounds were gossip rags and corrupt news, we knew that we wanted to write something. Anything!
And we know you want to write something too. Too long have we been afraid to make our opinions known, where people suffer a lack of proper information and news. Now we have a pen. Now we have a voice.
Are you looking for a job? Divinity Daily is hiring! Come make your voice known as an opinion piece, inform the people with the city’s latest news, or cover local businesses as a review article. Professional writers may apply by letter.

(Submissions for Divinity Daily are enabled! Looking for articles, review, news, interviews, and more centered around the GW2 RP community. Ideally, this will be a community driven project. Want to remain anonymous? Use a pen name or alias for your writings!)
