Now to discuss the asterisk on the Thursday prompt. Since this was a week I created specifically for myself and I'm just opening it up for others, I please ask you to respect my boundaries. I do not want to see anything shipping Bill and Ford with other Pines (or Bill's family) or children in the week's hashtag. This isn't petty fandom drama that you can argue with me about, this is MY personal boundary and I want it respected, please.
You can, however, do two Bills and a Ford, or two Fords and a Bill since that's just two of the same guy. You can also do selfship/yumeship/crossovers/oc x canon! Again, just don't include characters who are underaged or meant to be related to either Bill or Ford. Thank you <3

Honestly I wish ppl on A03 wouldn't label fics as abandoned in their bookmarks when the author hasn't stated that they are abandoned. or no longer being updated.
Sometimes we're just slow...and it can be really disheartening to see that tbh ;-;

your public bookmarks are public, meaning anybody—including the author—can see what you put in a bookmark. and unless the author has specifically said the fic is abandoned, you (general you) don’t know if it’s abandoned or not. one of my favorite fic writers posted a new chapter of one of their fics after 13 years of no updates.
my point, you don’t know if a fic is abandoned just because it hasn’t been updated in years. you don’t know if the author will one day continue it. and saying “this is abandoned” just because it’s not updated regularly can be super discouraging to authors who write as their hobby and their gateway.
be respectful and considerate to fanfic writers who are kind enough to share their works with you to read for free.
The key to writing good fanfiction is to harbor a deeply humiliating desire, and the trick there is that even pretty basic and societally-accepted desires like “being held” and “being wanted” CAN and WILL be humiliating if they’re intense enough. Become so estranged from human connection that the idea of someone playing with your hair fills you with yearning so deep you feel like you’re going to throw up and you will write some banger fanfiction. It might have some other consequences too but idrk about that.

OR, A SUMMARY:
Ford Pines is dreaming. Bill Cipher has decided there are better ways to get something out of someone, and they involve carrots rather than sticks. It took a little bit of rearranging and a lot of trial-and-error (Ford’s gotten really good at dream-related stuff! Although, Bill supposes that’s his own fault,) but he got it to work in the end! The dream isn’t one he expected to work, but he figured he might as well have some fun with it. Now all he has to do is wait.
There also needs to be a button for “this is the 5000th time I’ve read your fic because I’m having a horrible day and this is the only thing in the world that always brings me happiness.”
In all seriousness with how much Gravity Falls as a series makes jokes at Mormonism or outright overlaps with the faith thanks to it's heavy use of Masonic imagery it feels like giving up a lot of narrative real estate to not make somebody a member of the Later Day Saints (imo). We are talking about a faith that has the dipper constellation and the eye of providence etched into the facade of their holy of holiest temples here! The brand synergy was there even before Alex Hirsch made a visual gag in TBOB that made Bill himself the genesis of the religion.
If LDS members being a minority group in the south is the holdup. Don't worry. Mormons did and do exist in Tennessee. Despite us god fearing Christians killing them in their places of worship and harassing them but they existed. Also here's another LDS fun fact a member of the Quorum of the Twelve used to be the mayor of Palo Alto! He also lead a pretty successful double life, well much more successful than our boy Fiddleford given how squeaky clean they keep his Wikipedia profile.
Sorry I just realized that if you leaned into the TBOB joke Mormon Fiddleford has the potential to find out Bill started his faith and that is just. Heavenly Father, if that isn't comedy gold.
