    hands move to adjust the tie – he’s never worn one before, this is a new experience for him. he hates how the dress shirt feels against his skin, how it grazes over old burns and scars, how it feels so rough compared to the usual soft lining of his sweatshirt. he doesn’t like the pants, they feel stiff, and tight around the waist. but he’d endure all this – and a million more awful things – for dustin. he presses his forehead against the other’s, arms snaking around his shoulders.

     “ full offense, if the baby spits on me, i might cry. marma i can deal with, but children aren’t my strong suit. “

he can sense keegan’s discomfort -- it’s hard not to, really, he knows his boyfriend too well -- and expression matches accordingly. it was supposed to be a fancy dinner, after all, and he’d much rather ditch formalwear if it means keegan was more comfortable, but alas... boy laughs softly, nestling up against him as he pulls him in closer by the waist. 

❛ you’ll be fine, promise. if anna starts crying in the restaurant, mom’ll take care of her. and you’ll only have to see marma for a couple of minutes. ❜ hands raise to mess with his own tie, ❛ unless... you want to stay over? ❜

    ouch. she’s only somewhat hurt she hasn’t heard about this party ‘til now — and from her cousin, no less ! although, she can’t say she’s surprised ; not being invited to things is kinda her thing. so what if dustin has a get-out-of-dinner-free card because he’s popular ? christine gets questions about college ! and that’s … totally a win. her lips purse in half-disappointment / half-contemplation, and, in a hushed voice : ❛ you want me to lie to my parents ? ❜
