1. what does their bedroom look like?
pre-fire, jake keeps the layout of his house the same after his parents leave. his room is the second furthest room down the hall and upstairs. ( with mr. and mrs. dillinger’s being the furthest, and directly across from jake’s room, with a large window across most of it’s length. ) it’s a relatively decently sized room, with a large screen window at the back. he’s got posters for old bands, singers, and footballers up all over his walls, which are spotty where he’s rearranged the posters and pulled out paint when he’s unsticking cellotape or blu-tack. his bed is a normal kids bed, ( a little small for him, but he manages. ) with a superhero duvet on top. he’s never bothered to buy new ones, so he cycles between a sp.iderman, dragon, and aven.gers duvet, changing them every week. his room is relatively tidy, he’s got a really nice laptop that he keeps under his bed, and he’s got a desk for doing his homework. he’s also got a closet and a chest of drawers, with a bunch of trophies on top of it. unfortunately, nothing was really worth salvaging.
post-fire, he stays in a homeless shelter and is left in the legal sponsorship of the state. his bedroom is the only room that he has. he has a fold-out couch for a bed, and a few blankets with plain sheets. he’s got a rickety desk in the corner of his room that he uses for homework, and his clothes are kept in a few drawers. he keeps his money inside a hole he cut into the bottom of the right side of the couch arm, because he really doesn’t trust that people don’t go through his stuff. he doesn’t personalise , as nobody ever comes over, since he doesn’t want them to.
4. what would they do if they needed to make dinner but the kitchen was busy?
6. eating habits and sample daily menu.
11. intellectual pursuits?
pre-fire, jake had his eyes set for a sports-based scholarship that would get him into a high-end college and really launch his career. he was really excited about it and really wanted to pursue a career in football as a player for the nfl.
of course, post-fire, these dreams come to an end. jake breaks both his legs, which puts him in a wheelchair. the fractures are severe enough to actually leave him in pretty bad shape for roughly a year and a half. ( i go on about it in detail in this post. ) jake’s dream of being a sports star goes downhill, and he puts his focus instead on the science of sports. now, of course, he wants to keep his options open and leave school with the highest gpa he can achieve. ( and with him achieving straight a’s for a pretty solid amount of time, he’s just trying to maintain the work that he puts into his classes. ) jake would love to become a teacher ( particularly in p.e. ) when he leaves college, and so is putting his hopes on a college where he can receive training.
