Top image is of all the bleeding that happened all the way around my skirt when I hand washed it with COLD water and mild detergent then left it out to dry in the sun a few weeks ago.

Bottom image is how I saved it to look good as new.

Simple step by step guide to SAVE YOUR BRAND WITH SHAMPOO! 1. Fold up skirt to leave exposed just damaged area. 2. Wet area and apply a small dot of shampoo. 3. While running COLD water gently rub in shampoo with fingers. 4. Rinse and repeat if one spot is more stubborn. 5. Once all marks are gone put in dryer making sure to check on it so you don’t heat fix new marks. The dryer should heat fix the item so you wont have the issue again. 6. Optional: do another bath soaking the item in a cap full of vinegar and a 1/4 cup of salt. DO NOT DO THIS if most of your item didn’t wash without bleeding or having the print melt off.

7. protip: don’t wash brand without looking it up first or you will end up like me.

Just an addition: If you don’t have any beeswax around, a dryer sheet does the same job of stopping your thread from tangling so much! :) I have one stashed in my sewing box, you can use it over and over again!

Chapstick also works, but make sure it’s chilled otherwise it gets everywhere

It’s been a while since I sewed something! I made this dress out of Halloween fabric that I bought probably about four years ago, using the Sewaholic Cambie dress pattern. The fabric was originally a much brighter orange, but after constructing the whole dress, I tea dyed it. I used about one bag of tea per 2 cups water for an hour, and I got a really nice muted orange color that I like a lot better. This was my first time tea dying, and I couldn’t be happier with how it came out. For this project I also learned how to add a pocket on the French seam, but that didn’t come out quite as well. Oh well, better to have a weird pocket than none.

Made myself a classical lolita outfit because I’m too broke to buy lolita. XP  I made the petticoat, underskirt, skirt, pillbox hat, and altered a button up shirt. Classic lolita and Hime lolita are my favorite. <3

The pattern of the skirt is the map of the constellations, fell in love with it when I saw it at Joannes.

This was my latest project this week! I realized I had some fabric left over from when I made the purple skirt sample, but it wasn’t enough to make another skirt, or a jsk, only a tote bag….or a salopette! I have really been getting into salopettes after receiving my AP candy sprinkle lucky pack salopette so it inspired me to make my own with some of my own fabric! I really want to make it in red now…. Anyways, this salopette has cute black buttons, a matching head bow, and pink ribbon to corset the back! I was torn becuase I think white, black or maroon red ribbon would all look good on there too. The sweet lolita in me said pink, so I did that :) I really loved making this salopette and I hope to make more soon! Also, these will be available for purchase once I have checked out a few more fabric printing suppliers. Please reblog if you would be interested in purchasing one of these!

I just finished making the headdress for my Angelic Pretty Twinkle Carnival coord and I have to say that I’m really pleased with the results. The roses have a beautiful and subtle pink colour on some of the petals and I’ll also be using lots of gold and pearls through out the rest of my outfit so I think it’ll tie in nicely. The pearl strands are detachable (they’re attached to jump rings on the back via clasps) and if/when I find nice enough materials I might add a removable veil for some added opulence.

How I made my wrist cuffs:

*Pleated the lace

*Hand sewed the pleats in place

*Cut strip of ladder lace

*Replaced white ribbon with pink

*Hand sewed ladder lace to pleated lace

*Added gross grain ribbon bows
