I feel like the people who are constantly dogging on Hello Neighbor: Welcome to Raven Brooks completely miss the point of it, especially when they compare it to the books.
These characters are not 1:1 to their book counterparts, and while they are flawed and simplified in aspects, this does not mean they "ruined" them.
It's an adaptation, it's not going to be perfectly aligned with everything else in this franchise. There's also the aspect of how perspective works in this franchise, especially when it's been made clear by the heads of the franchise themselves that perspective of characters heavily matters.
I especially hate it when people say characters like Trinity were intentionally ruined or dumbed down. Because like, no? WTRB's Trinity is arguably the best adaptation of her character, and I would even go as far as saying one of the best depictions of a character in this franchise.
She's flawed, and that makes her human. She does stupid things because she's impulsive and can very easily interpret things differently than others. She's a flawed character, but the fact she's so human makes her so likeable.
WTRB singlehandedly was one of the main reasons this franchise is still going, and that says a lot considering it's a nonprofit self funded show. And this isn't me hating on things like the books either, I love the books. WTRB is genuinely just amazing and despite some minor flaws I genuinely can't see how people can look at it and not look past said flaws.
I feel like people are just too used to what they've had with the books that they can't expand their pallet and try something new.
TL;DR: WTRB gets a lot of underserved hate from people who don't look past it on a face value.
