When you hear the familiar whoosh and heat from above your head, there was only one person that could fly and generate that much heat.
Most people would probably cheer when they see the superhero flying down near them, but honestly all you can do is roll your eyes. This is the fifth time he's come to visit you on a random Tuesday.
"Aw, why the long face? Did I interrupt your break?" You blinked twice. Staring blankly at the blonde man as he garners a small crowd around you. You sigh and put down your lunch, looking at him.
His smile turns into a mocking pout. "So mean. Didn't miss me at all?"
"No. You're starting to annoy me with how many times you've come visit me on my lunch break." He apparently takes your disinterest as an invitation to sit down next to you on the bench. Wrapping an arm around you as the crowd started to move towards the bench too.
Johnny sucks in a sharp breath, he looks at you, knowing that the sudden attention makes you uncomfortable. Sure thing, you're starting to wince away from the shouting fans.
"Well, We can get out of here. but I know how much you hate flying with me." A smug grin was slapped on his face as he waits for the answer he knows you're going to say.
You really, truly, hate whenever he has you in his arms as he flies. It never burns, he never hurts you. But dangling thousands of feet in the air as he carries you, reassuring that you're fine and safe. But of course you still feared for your life.
But if you heard another fangirl squealing in your ear about how 'hot' Johnny was...
"Fine." You muttered angrily. His smug grin only grows wider as he leaned in closer. "I'm sorry? What did you say? Couldn't hear you over all my adoring fans--"
It takes all but two seconds for him to set aflame, grabbing you from your armpits and lifting you in the air.
A few moments later you arrive at the Baxter building that you've grown to dread rather than adore, landing at the balcony that looks over the front of the Baxter building.
You're met with your favorite robot, H.E.R.B.I.E. He beeps and waves at you. You might not tolerate what most of America's favorite superhero family does to you, but H.E.R.B.I.E was definitely the one thing that they've done right.
"Herbert's missed you, you know?" Johnny walks past you and gives the little robot a head scratch as he makes his way to the kitchen. You can't help but mimic him and offer the robot head scratches too, earning appreciative beeps from him.
"Hm. Sure. Can I ask why I'm here? Or are you gonna ignore me and just offer me food." You looked at Johnny expectantly and he smiles, shaking the cereal box he had in his hand.
"The latter." You mutter, shaking your head as you walked towards the couch, flopping on it as if you were at your own home. Because after the hundredth time of Johnny or Reed or even Ben dragging you into the building, it's starting to become your home.
You don't even flinch when Sue and Reed walk in, H.E.R.B.I.E quickly moving over to help them.
"Oh? Well hello there, getting real comfortable there huh?" Sue's voice is sweet as she places a hand on her hip. You turn your head to face the couple. "Hi." You give a lazy greeting, earning a frown from Reed.
Sue just smiles and walks up to you, giving you small pats on your head, turning around to walk to the kitchen and giving a kiss on Johnny's cheek. "You been treating them well?"
"Mhm. Flew 'em here and everything. But I think they miss Ben's cooking because they don't wanna eat my favorite food. Cereal."
You roll your eyes, earning a small laugh from Sue. "That's good, they're saving their appetite for dinner."
"Wait I never said I would be staying for dinner--"
"Sunday dinner at 7, whole family eats. No arguing." Reed says, punctuating his last words by looking directly at you.
"Right, Good for you. I'm not a part of your family though." You look at Reed, your tone extremely incredulous.
He looks back at you, stoic expression. Not a hint of joking in his tone. "You are apart of our family."
Huh. That's....sweet? You don't know how to feel about being apart of their family, even after expressing how much you disliked being constantly dragged back to the Baxter building almost every week for random 'check ins' that you haven't really (ever) agreed to.
Maybe it wasn’t so sweet.
They're chatting around you. It's lively, familiar. You've attended one of their family dinners before. But they've never had to force you there before. So now you feel like every lift of the fork was weighed down.
"You're picking at your food, kid. Not hungry?" Ben. Your savior. The only one of the four you feel comfortable sitting next to.
You shrugged, any hunger had left your body when you knew you were kind of trapped here until they decide to let you go. Which is horrifying to think about.
Ben tilts his head at that and sighs. "Want me to pack it up so you can take it home? Could have it for lunch the next day?" You raise your head slightly and nod. Almost sheepishly. Ben has a soft smile as he picks up your plate that is barely touched.
"Sorry. Your food's good, I'm just not feeling well right now." You're voice is soft enough that only he hears it and he nods. "It's alright kid, I get it. Make you something warm to drink, yeah? Better get something in that stomach of yours."
Ben was always the sweetest.
He comes back with a steaming cup of what smelled like hot chocolate. You thank him as you sip at it. It's rich and you enjoyed every sip.
A haze starts to cloud your mind as time passes and the mug is starting to empty but yet it feels so heavy.
The cup slips from your hand as you struggle to keep your head up. "Wha-- What's happenin'... Why--" Your words are slurred.
"Shh shh, it's alright. God, was this really the only way?" Sue is suddenly next to you, her hands cradling your head and guiding you to lay on her chest.
"Barbaric, but it's effective. Don't need them fussing up a storm, now do we?" Reed is standing next to Sue, a hand on her shoulder. "It's alright, they'll wake up in a few days and we'll be there to take care of them."
She nods. You're fighting the inevitable fate which is you passing out, you're trying to speak but Sue shushes you. "You're gonna be fine sweetheart, just a lil tired. Go to sleep."
They fucking drugged you.
You want to cuss her out, cuss them all out, but your mouth is failing you. The only things you hear are more of Sue comforting you, and Johnny commenting about how cute you looked when you were asleep.
