Hello everyone - we’re back! We couldn’t let another year pass without a week of celebration for our best boy! So, we are proud to present to you Otabek Altin Week 2018!

Otabek was fairly new to the hospital he was working at, given the go ahead to run the diagnostics department and the thumbs up to aid his first patient. “Yuri Plisetsky,” the name rolled off his tongue as he read over the teen’s medical chart. He was coming in as a referral from a clinical physician with symptoms of an awful sounding case of bronchitis. But, as Otabek read over the chart, a lot of the things on there didn’t even point to bronchitis. He scrunched his nose and mumbled, “Some doctor’s really don’t deserve their degree’s,” under his breath and made his way to the hospital waiting room to collect his patient from the nurses checking his vitals.

“Mr. Plisetsky? I’m Dr. Altin, would you mind following me this way, please?” He asked, holding the door for the blonde and whom he assumed was his grandfather and then taking the lead. Elevator, hallway, right, left… an entire cardio work-out of a hallway, and finally to the room. He held that door, too. 

“If you can, make yourself comfortable and a nurse will be in with a gown for you soon. Right now, I’m going to do my own vital check.” He did all the crap with the lights in the nose, ears, looked at his throat and it was absolutely raw. He felt sorry for the boy. 

Moving on to listening to Yuri’s lungs, he wasn’t a pulmonolgist but any simple doctor would be able to hear any breathing abnormalities, “This might be hard, Mr. Plisetsky, but I’m going to need you to try and take a deep breath and then exhale for me.” He instructed, placing the stethoscope to the blonde’s back.

Yuri sat in the waiting room of the ER for what felt like forever. He had been feeling quite ill for some time now and after going to his primary physician, the doctor said he had bronchitis and told him to rest and drink plenty of fluids, even gave him some antibiotics, but that was a week ago and Yuri only felt worse. His temperature spiked to over 100 degrees and he had a lot of trouble breathing, especially at night. His grandfather couldn’t stand the sounds Yuri made at night anymore, so he decided they would go to the ER in the morning.

So here they were, Yuri sitting uncomfortably in the lounge, coughing almost none stop. He groaned as he rested his head in his hands. His grandfather put a comforting hand on his shoulder, and then decided to ask how much longer they had to wait.

However, that’s when a nurse called Yuri over to a small area behind a curtain next to the waiting room, to check his vitals. The nurse noted that his temperature was 102.5, which was very high and his blood pressure was also elevated.

Soon after a handsome looking young doctor told them to follow him. It seemed like forever for Yuri and the whole way he couldn’t stop his phlegmy cough.

Finally sitting down in an examination room, the doctor checked his nose, ears and throat and then told him to take a deep breath.

Yuri inhales shakily, his chest making a crackling sound and he immediately started to cough, which hurt his raw throat so much, he whimpered and held his chest.

That’s all Otabek needed. He put the stethoscope around the back of his neck and pulled up the patient chart, scribbling a few things and standing up. “I can’t say how long you’ll need to stay, but I am going to need an x-ray of your lungs. You I think you have pneumonia,” if the gurgling in his lungs had anything to say about it, then yes, definitely. Unfortunately, Otabek couldn’t just make that diagnosis from listening to his lungs. He had to have an x-ray image of the fluid build-up. 

“I don’t know who your regular physician is… don’t see them anymore,” Otabek told them, put the chart back just as the nurse was walking in. She gave him a quick smile and then smiled at Yuri and his grandfather, seeing if Yuri needed any assistance with the gown. 

Otabek stayed, a bit too antsy to sit down, “How long has Yuri been like this? Has he taken anything for the cough or to coat his throat?” He asked Yuri’s grandfather, basic questions of course. But, he had to ask them even though it wouldn’t change anything. Just his desire to smack the Primary Physician that diagnosed Yuri with bronchitis because they wanted to be lazy.

Yuri held his throat when he coughed again and winced. It burned like hell. He sighed when the doctor said he needed to stay in the hospital. Seriously? He had to get to practice.

The nurse started helping him with the gown and Yuri just pushed her away.

“I’m not putting that on!” He said right before another coughing fit.

His grandfather sighed,

“Yurotchka, please be nice to the nurse and doctor.” He then turned to the doctor.

“I would say he’s been sick for about two weeks now, after the first week we took him to the doctor. They gave him some cough syrup, but he doesn’t like to take it because it makes him too tired and if he takes it at night, he’s too groggy the next morning. He’s been trying to train still, he’s a figure skater, but I told him he needs to stop until he gets better.” He exclaimed, watching as Yuri finally got the gown on with a frown.

Otabek penned the information down, “If you want to, Mr. Plisetsky, you could walk with me down to radiology so we can get an x-ray of your chest. If you’d rather be wheeled down there by the bed, I don’t mind arranging that either.” He had a small smile as he looked at the blonde, he was trying to be more polite and friendly so that patients would actually like him. Instead of being one of those ass hole doctor’s that half-assed their jobs and sent patients home, sick, and without a single concern for their health and well-being. 

Dr. Altin wasn’t going to let himself get like that.

Otabek kept the noise cancelling headphones on, humming to himself as he prepared a liquid meal for Tiger. He’d also set his personal laptop to print out a few documents to simplify and explain how animals are treated for research. Otabek hadn’t done nearly a fifth of the cruel things to Tiger as most researchers have done to these poor animals. 

When he figured that his subject may have learned his lesson, or rather when Otabek started to feel guilty for waving the hopes of a meal in front of Tiger and then ripping it away, he grabbed a small stack of papers about the animal testing and the tray of food, making his way down to the basement. He set the tray on his desk and removed the headphones, “You say that I’m treating you cruelly, like an animal, but have you ever stopped to think of what an animal actually goes through?”

He pulled up his stool and set the tray of food in front of Tiger, unbinding the arm opposite of his dominant one. He flipped through the papers until he found one that he was looking for, clearing his throat before he began reading, “According to Human Society International, animals used in experiments are commonly subjected to force feeding, forced inhalation, food and water deprivation, prolonged periods of physical restraint, the infliction of burns and other wounds to study the healing process, the infliction of pain to study its effects and remedies, and ‘killing by carbon dioxide asphyxiation, neck-breaking, decapitation, or other means.’”

He turned the page and began reading again, “Draize eye test, used by cosmetics companies to evaluate irritation caused by shampoos and other products, involves rabbits being incapacitated in stocks with their eyelids held open by clips , sometimes for multiple days, so they cannot blink away the products being tested.” Looking at Tiger, he set the papers down with pursed lips and adjusted his glasses. 

“I don’t do anything to you that a normal hospital wouldn’t do to a normal patient. Yes, I give you small doses of illnesses such as the swine flu, or H1N1, and test medicinal solutions to find a for sure cure for the illness. If I give you something and things turn bad, I work more quickly to get rid of it so that you don’t die. I am not a monster, I choose not to test medicines meant for humans, on poor animals that can’t say otherwise. If you want privileges, I don’t mind giving them to you, but you can’t spit in my face for trying to reason with you. The anatomic, metabolic and cellular differences between animals and people make animals poor models for human beings.” Once he was finished speaking, he handed Tiger a plastic spoon that was coated in rubber so he couldn’t hide it and use it for his bindings. Not that Otabek would be dumb enough to forget that he’d given it to his subject, just in case he tried to break it and cut a chunk out of Otabek or himself.

Yuri had been sleeping peacefully when the monster had come in the room. He had been so exhausted, he was always exhausted. He had dreamed of his grandpa, of his coaches, he was skating… Everything was so good, so relaxing… Until he heard something about animals being hurt and decapitated or having their necks broken… Wait, what?

He opened his eyes, just to find the monster in front of him, reading some papers about animals being tortured for science. He always hated what the scientists were doing on animals for cosmetic products, it was not like the people couldn’t live without them.

But anyway… Nothing mattered now…Nobody cared about his opinion, he was just a laboratory rat… and he had lost the battle. He looked at the monster’s face, at his glasses, down his body, then returned at his hands. He had a spoon in his hand… What a curious thing… Well, not anymore.

Yuri looked at his hands and noticed that one of his arms were free and noticed the tray on the monster’s desk. Maybe he had planned to feed him? It didn’t matter, nothing mattered now, he had lost the battle forever.

He didn’t respond, he didn’t move, he just stared at Otabek. He was empty

“Are you going to eat? It’ll get cold.” He said, kicking his chair back to his computer and booting it up for the second time that day. Otabek wanted to document how well Tiger would be able to take the food. Of course he wouldn’t introduce something to him just to rip it away from him again. He just wanted to make sure it wouldn’t cause him any pain or discomfort. 

He kept looking over his shoulder every so often to check on the blonde and trying to be discrete in his observation. “My name is Otabek… What’s yours?” He asked after a few silent moments.He assumed he should start to make this atmosphere feel a bit more friendly and not like predator torturing prey.

Yuri looked up at Otabek, his eyes empty and unfocused. He tried to turn on one side, but the bindings from his feet and his other hand were stopping him. He whimpered. But it didn’t matter, he was just a rat, he didn’t deserve anything…

He looked at the food and at the spoon in his hand and sighed. The monster would take it from him anyway. At least that was the single thing he could take from him. He had already taken everything from him… Maybe he would give him a break. “Tiger…”

He closed his eyes

Otabek turned his chair to fully face his subject, “No. That is not your name, that is your subject file name. Something I gave you. What is your given name?” He asked again, frowning that this was actually happening. What the hell did he do this time? He let him have a free hand so he could feed himself, got him some warm and actually really good smelling food, what was he missing? With Lion, all he had to do was make sure he could still watch unintelligent action movies, a hot shower every other day and tell him how amazing he was at least twelve times a day... whether it was a lie or not.

Hi kas! I know that you don’t post a lot of personal stuff so if you think this question is too invasive then please ignore it : what is your biggest pet peeve?

;; I don’t mind questions like this at all, actually. I just don’t like when people ask for the handles of my other personal social media accounts… like Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat over anon and expect me to answer that… publicly.

I don’t really know how to answer this truthfully, so I’m just going to make a list 1-10 of my peeves. 1 being the worst, 10 being something that just bugs me but isn’t something that actually upsets me.

1. People lacking in manners.

2. Closed-Minded people.

3. Someone not being able to pick up after themselves.

4. L I A R S

5. People who give themselves a label without looking up the definition

6. The bold use of the word “pu**y” … To me, it sounds extremely filthy and not in a good sense of the word. I don’t have many triggers but that word is actually something that will immediately deter me from wanting to speak to them. It makes me uncomfortable to the point it reaches an “I need to get out of here, now” level. I know it isn’t fair since not everyone views that word the same way as I do, but I can’t talk to someone who might slip-up and say it and then I don’t want to be around them. I would actually erase a word from my vocabulary if one of my friends told me that they were uncomfortable with me using it.

7. People attacking writers/role-players/artists/etc. for not doing something that they think they should do or not expressing a character the way that they think they should.

8. People who make role-play blogs just to make friends and don’t actually role-play.

9. When my rp blog dash is flooded with things that don’t have anything to do with the fandom that I use them for. You have a personal blog, post that stuff there.

10. Getting anonymous messages that either have nothing to do with me or my character.

I think that about sums it up. I’ve listed everything that aggravates me the most. I don’t want anyone to read this and thing that they annoy me, because they don’t. I don’t want anyone to think that I hate them if they do any of these things. I’m a big boy and I’ll get over it (Doesn’t apply to No.6, will probably never get over No.6).
