First taste of Ausie Land.
Well to be quite frank, nothing was as my western-media influenced mind had thought it would've been. After leaving the Airport with Jordan we rode through surrounding inner-city suburbs that seemed extremely dated. More brick houses than a person could even imagine, and even more so of that of Graffiti. This must be close to the graffiti capitol of the world. Thus being said, its not that of awful graffiti that no one really cares for. It's the murals of darth-vader crossing some of the more dated buildings, and sheer australian pride that is expressed so widely across the city(that i've seen).
The first day Spent in sydney was definitely an enjoyable one to say the least. Jordan and I dropped my stuff by the house and I got moderately situated in my room. And as it should be, we took to see some touristy attractions. We took the rails over to the city centre I do believe, and from there had a look see at the Opera house and the Sydney Harbour bridge. The sites were refreshing to see in person, after hearing as much as I have of that area it was really quite good to be fulfilled with taking that in. After having enough of what seemed to be very hot temperatures (around 30 celsius) we hopped on the fairy that took us to Manly beach. There was much to see on the ride there, just the shear size of sydney was displayed in such a small scale from that 20 minute ride. Finally, we hit the beach.. good grief it was incredibly refreshing. For some reason I would've figured the water would be fairly warm.. But that wasn't entirely too true. Coming from a canadian background, it was nothing like that of our lakes, but by no means was this warm. So we body surfed around a bit and had a grand ole time. After, we headed home to spend some down time with the new family of sorts and get more situated.
Day 2 was a completely different story.. Every now and then i would check the weather for sydney and see some pretty high temperatures and not think much of it. This day I do believe it reached something like 47 with 90% humidity. All fun and games aside, that's extremely hot! Sitting in the spare room watching a movie half dead was about all we could do to not die of heat exhaustion. At one point we thought we'd be adventurous and check how the outside actually was, since the house couldn't seem like it could really get much warmer.. Well lets just say i've never felt that sort of wall of heat bashing my body in my life. Needless to say, it felt extremely pleasant to have a roof over our heads again.
For saturday night we decided to head to the inner-city in search of some good vibes and music. After much searching for a place Jordan had heard of, but never actually been to, we found it hidden in china town. Quite the little gem of a place. In the first room you have your generic Nu-disco and more of a minimal house dj. The next room further in was playing more of the tech house and just straight up Jackin beats. A good time was had by all.
Well I'm going to try and keep this up to date as possible, but we'll see how that goes. Life has a way of taking off on a fella. Peace and Love folks! <3
