The rise of overly dark Magical Girl shows, which contain suffering for no other purpose than to display said suffering, largely stems from a complete misunderstanding of what Madoka was, and what made it great.

Madoka spends two and a half episodes setting up a happy, cheerful, Magical Girl show, and then spends eight and a half episodes rejecting that premise, showing that hope only leads to despair, that a wish will lead to a curse, that things cannot fundamentally improve, and that trying to make things better will only bring suffering upon yourself and others. This is what derivative "tragical girl" shows were about; the suffering of young women for its own sake, as if that was the point of Madoka, as if the suffering was the entire point.

The last episode, however, has Madoka herself rejecting the show's entire premise. She's told hope leads to despair, and exclaims "If someone says it's wrong to have hope, I will tell them they're wrong every single time.". She's told that the very foundation of the universe leads to suffering being inherent, constant, and that the only thing one can do is to endure said suffering as long as one can bear, before falling to despair and inflicting the suffering one has experienced unto others; she's told that any wish will become a curse, yet ends the show saying "All those Magical Girls who held onto their hopes and fought against witches, I don't want to see them cry—I want them to stay smiling until the end. If any rule or law stands in my way, I will destroy it. I will rewrite it. That is my wish, that is my prayer.""

Walpurgisnacht had been set up as the most terrible witch to ever exist up until that point, and the viewer had been led to believe they'd fight to the death against it, and inevitably lose—as a Magical Girl seemingly always does in the Madoka universe. Madoka does not fight her, Madoka shows compassion, simply stating "It's okay. It's okay now, you don't have to hate anyone anymore, you don't have to curse anyone anymore. I'll go back, before you took that form, and shoulder that burden for you". There was no fight, and Madoka simply took on her despair, as she took on everyone else's, allowing them to once again have hope.

That's why the ending of that silly meduka meguca copypasta does make me cry every time; we pray, never to forget, that being Meguca was suffering. It's not anymore, there are struggles, but there always are in life; the Magical Girls who held wishes in their hearts prevailed against the very concept of the show, with the ending showing that you can make the world a better place through love, compassion, and the power of a wish. The twist in Madoka Magica isn't episode 3, where the first explicit death is shown—it's in episode 12, in which it shows itself to have been a completely normal Magical Girl show all along.

Bonus genderbend with Filipino styles!! (it's a very quick drawing huhu)

My history notes below ↓ (if you want to read it haha) :

Since my upcoming college course demands us to learn more about fashion when my ass only ever knows one here's a bonus of me experimenting on different Filipino fashion styles (ofc since I'm genderbent-pilled they're genderbent versions of the p5 boys).

Also since some might not be familiar with these styles I'll try to explain the best I can on what these styles are, so if there's any inconsistent info please correct me or add more to it hehe

Quick disclaimer that most of my information is from my local community's stories so I COULD have a one-sided view into these styles. ok? okey

I'll research more in-depth about these styles in the coming future. This is my starting point to know what I'm missing in the future. Learning experience if you will. Anyway, I'll post about it more if people are interested but most likely I'll just keep to myself

let's start with the most famous of them all:

Bebot: You probably heard or seen about it on tiktok somewhere so you might have an idea on what they look like. It's slang for an attractive woman in the Philippines. The word's history is a bit murky but it most likely came from the pet name "bebe." It definitely became more popular with Black Eyed Pea's song named "Bebot." In English it's simply translated as a "babe" or a "hot girl." It's a very early 2000s-ajecent style. It's very Y2K if you will. I could say more but it's mainly just that with the style. It's a very 2000s style

Kikay: If there's a baddie with bebot, of course there's cutesy with Kikay. It's a term used in the 90s to associate very colorful feminine women. Although, Kikay is mostly known for its abundance of hair accessories and trinkets due to Jolina Magdangal. Jolina's a cultural icon, popularizing a Kikay in the early 2000s alongside its Viva Hotbabes' song "Kikay." To put it simply, It's a hyper feminine style.

Jejemon: This one I'm the most familiar with as this is the style my family pushed into me. Why? I don't know, grandpa didn't tell me ://

Anyway, It was not supposed to be a clothing style but a TEXTING style. Usually they would mistype words on purpose. for purposes of this post being too long I'll avoid the whole texting part. For the fashion side, It used to be a derogatory term from elitist to degraded often lower income young people who dress outside from the norm (as jeje means cringe). Nowadays, it is reclaimed as an iconic 2000s style and hopefully it stays that way. Like what I wrote earlier, the style is driving away from norms, i.e. dressing like a masculine girl or adding things people would consider "tacky" in the Philippines.

Kakaibabe: The latest and the very broad one in the group. It was coined in the 2010s from a Donnalyn Bartolome, combining a "kakaibang" meaning unique and "babae" for girls. A unique girl as they say. To defy the norms once again. In Donnalyn's song it's describing someone who isn't very feminine but people interpret it in a different way as this style is based on a girl's own interpretation. It's a simple one style but a style that highlights what makes the girls WHO they are. In an easier description, it's a style highlighting the GIRL itself.
