Meet Rae Langton â the Leading Face of the Skydown webcomic
Weâd like to introduce you to the faces behind the characters of our comic. Today, answering our questions is Alina â the face of our main character, Rae Langton.
đ Tell us about yourself Oh, back then I already had a "son" â fluffy, pushy, and always hungry. My cat, of course. He was the first to hear I was offered the role, and I think he didnât mind â as long as his bowl was full. Then Leon came along, and I realized the cat was just a warm-up. Now Iâm a mom, and honestly, it feels a bit like playing Rae â you're always on your toes, slightly on the edge, but madly in love with the chaos.
đ Did you choose the role yourself, or was it offered to you? The role was offered to me. At some point, my husband said, âThis should be you.â I was a bit surprised, but once I read the character, I saw â yeah, we do have something in common. The decision felt natural, and Iâm glad I said yes.
đ Whatâs your characterâs name and what do you know about her? Rae Langton. Strong, independent, honest. Sheâs not afraid to be sharp, but underneath it all â thereâs a big heart. Sheâs clever, has street smarts, sometimes cynical, but genuinely cares for the people she loves. She looks up to her father, even if she doesnât always show it. Truly the kind of daughter any dad would dream of.
đ Do you share anything with your character, or are you completely different? We do share some traits. Weâre both straightforward, donât like injustice, and will stand up for the people we care about. But Raeâs tougher â she charges ahead without always taking time to doubt. I think Iâm a bit softer. Though⌠it depends on the situation.
đ What do you think itâs like to live in a world with partial gravity loss? I think, in a way, Iâve experienced something similar â and still do. When the war started, when I had to leave my hometown, and now, living each day in uncertainty â it feels like thereâs no gravity. Like youâre suspended in air with nothing solid under your feet.
Psychologically, itâs tough. When the ground can literally disappear at any moment, you learn to stay alert, to be ready. But maybe thatâs what builds resilience too. Living in that kind of world means constantly being on edge.
đ How would you handle living in a world where gravity comes and goes? What would you do during âa gravity dropâ? Iâd follow the plan: anchor myself, keep myself and my loved ones safe. The key is not to panic and to know what to hold on to â both literally and figuratively.
đ Whereâs the last place youâd want to be when gravity suddenly cuts out? Probably in transport â especially if there's no way to stop safely. Or in some wide open space without shelter. That could be really dangerous.
đ What emotions does participating in the project bring up for you? Excitement, gratitude, nervousness. This project isnât just about sci-fi. Itâs about people â their choices, their character, their resilience. Playing Rae is an honor and a real pleasure.
đ What song would play when your character enters a scene? Heads Will Roll by Yeah Yeah Yeahs â itâs got energy, determination, the sense that somethingâs about to happen. Or Do I Wanna Know? by Arctic Monkeys â for a quieter scene, but one filled with tension.
đ Will you read the comic? Definitely. Iâm curious how the story will unfold, how the characters will come to life. I want to experience it fully â not just as the voice behind Rae, but as a reader too.
