Final Reflective
I wanted this final piece to have a multitude of meanings. How we view ourselves as the center of the universe, how we create our own worlds in fiction or in our heads, or the concept of god. Light in this case is representative of the concept of the ALL.
Light Final Idea 3:
My 3rd idea for this final is to have the light source come directly from the body. I could have a huge light source emanating from my mouse in a pitch dark Room in order to accentuate the human body as being a signal up some sorts.
Light Final Idea 2:
My 2nd idea is to wear clothes that match the color of my skin, or wear all white clothing. I would then have strobe lights hit me so I could become a living Polaroid and take a photo shoot accordingly.
Light Final Idea 1:
In the style of Alex Ross, I would have won spotlight pointed directly towards me. My idea would be able to highlight and accentuate certain features of the human body by having the background be completely blank and black, while having one light source highlight majority of my body.
Chosen Quote
Abstract: The Art of Design
"Olafur believes in order to change the world, you must change the way you LOOK at the world".
While this appears to be a smaller quote than most of what you'll find, I found this the most interesting. It totally encapsulates what Olafur is about, while summarizing the impact abstract art has. Throughout the documentary you'll see that he wants us to experience the world in this magical and grand way. This can only be done through the ideas of abstract art and his method about using abstract art is to create these dreamlike environments that intend on transporting the viewer to another world.
Hidden Beauty, Exterior Artificial
Materials: plasters of two hands, nail polish, cotton balls, blemish, nail paint, lipstick, brushes.
For my final, I wanted to accentuate the concept of makeup trying to cover up imperfection. Whether it is what we can control, or cant, makeup is always utilized to cover up some unwanted part of ourselves. I wanted to focus on everything in regards to self acceptance and societal standards.
Keep Talking to Yourself
A series of images that tells a story left up to interpretation. Some could see this as metaphorical of detachment. Some could see this as symbolic of self love. Either way, one thing is clear. The "self" is what matters.
Idea 3:
Similar to my first idea, I was thinking if tackling beauty, but in a different form. I wanted to tackle facial beauty by molding my faces by cracking and breaking said faces around a beautified setting.
Idea 2:
Molds of ears with blocks or holes within the ear. I want to tackle the struggles that the deaf go through by accentuating different parts of the ears.
Idea 1:
Purposely deform molds of hands/feet and cover them in makeup. This would be able to represent how society wants to cover up deformities or mistakes with makeup.
