I know MAS aren't your breed, but I figured you would probably know more about them than I do. Are the dropped ears like on Wigglebutt By Design on Monument Mtn normal for the breed, and if they are are they considered a fault? Not judging one way or another, I'm just noticing it seems pretty different than Aussie ear sets.

the aussie standard is much more specific about what constitutes a correct ear than the MAS standard and, where we explicitly fault “hound-type ears”, the MAS standard only faults “ears that hang with no lift.” i would consider Jynx's ears faulty for an aussie but acceptable for a MAS, though truthfully they wouldn't even be the worst aussie ears i've seen!

#border-collie #faulty ears are very popular in aussies because people are afraid of rose ears lmao #and because prick ears are generally considered less typey than heavy ears #(heavy ears are also—arguably—cuter)#and the dog doesn't herd on its ears etc etc so they're barely worth considering in the grand scheme

I’m leaving the opening to this instead of cropping it because Dune has excellent sense for lines and very good commitment to obstacles and he STILL went around the first obstacle because I set him up so poorly.

now that he’s less distractible once more (patting myself on the back) we’re gonna have to build the speed back up; he’s a lot more careful at trial than at home, despite the fact that there’s A Lot More Space
