“Emotions are like waves. Watch them disappear in the distance on the vast calm ocean.”
Ram Dass
Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.
Carl Jung (via quotemadness)
I’ve been trying to translate this for a while. I think it captures the meaning as it is intended by the speaker.
Translation:
“Close your eyes to the World and detach your heart from it, and don’t let it destroy you like it did those who came before you. For I have seen its cruelty, witnessed how it scars its people, how it strips those it has clothed, starved those it has fed, and killed those who lived off it”
Omar Ibn Alkhattab
(via thevintagearab)
My Lord, forgive and have mercy, and You are the best of the merciful. (23:118)
Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said :
O Allah, show me the truth as truth and guide me to follow it. And show me the false as false and guide me to avoid it.”

apologize to your body. maybe, that’s where the healing begins.

"
We ought not to forget the transitory character of all external advantages, even in the midst of our enjoyment of them; but always to bear in mind that they are not our own, and that therefore, they do not properly belong to us. Thus prepared, we shall never be carried away by opinions"
Epictetus
"Every desire degrades us, and renders us slaves of what we desire"
Epictetus
It is only our opinions and principles that can render us unhappy, and it is only the ignorant person who finds fault with another.
Epictetus
We are like travellers at an inn, or guests at a stranger's table; whatever is offered we take with thankfulness, and sometimes, when the turn comes, we may refuse
Epictetus
"I have lost nothing that belongs to me; it was not something of mine that was torn from me, but something that was not in my power has left me."
Epictetus
We often think the only way to create happiness is to try to control the outer circumstances of our lives, to try to fix what seems wrong or to get rid of everything that bothers us. But the real problem lies in our reaction to those circumstances. What we have to change is the mind and the way it experiences reality.
Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche
(via dronaut)
“All that is necessary to awaken to yourself as the radiant emptiness of spirit is to stop seeking something more or better or different, and to turn your attention inward to the awake silence that you are.”
Adyashanti
Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive us and have mercy upon us, and You are the best of the merciful. (23:109)
