Roy and HG should be doing this shit, not us. The nomination for this episode's DNQ award is Steve Hooker, the Australian pole vaulter and 2008 Olympic gold medallist. Why would we choose an Olympic gold medallist as our dud of the day? Well Steve barely managed to qualify for the games in 2012, despite his sponsor Red Bull making him a dedicated training facility and putting on his own qualification event, after he skipped the Australian trials. Once he got the Olympics, he did the minimum qualifying jump for the finals, then in the finals, couldn't manage a single jump. Hopefully his mindset is better for 2016. Roy and HG should be doing this shit, not us. The DNQ nomination for today is an Angolan Canoeist called Nelson Henriques. He had a lot of trouble lining up for his heat in the Men's C1 200m event, but after many attempts to get his boat into the starting gate, got in there. But when he started, his boat spun and started going backwards. His time, 55.268 - a healthy 14 seconds off the pace of the first place getter in a race that lasts only 41 seconds. Roy and HG should be doing this shit, not us. The DNQ nomination for today is Silvia Salis from Italy, competing in the women's hammer throw. The standard for the pack is a throw of around 65-75m. The DNQ nomination for today is Alexandr Dyadchuk from Kazakhstan. He has an interesting method of competing in the Canoe Single (C1) 1000m event, where he blasts his way out of the pack, building a few boatlengths lead, only to wear out after the first 250m and come in a full minute behind the leader.
