Malcolm X: Our History Was Destroyed By Slavery
on March 17, 1963 in Chicago.
see how little we get taught about history - I never had any idea why Malcolm X used the ‘X’.
How come I didn’t know this
Also that crusty old white man called the named ‘gifted’. Jesus.

Famous Authors and What They Drank
"What’s your largest goal in life?" "To find my children. They are five and seven. I told them I was taking a short trip to Juba, and I’d be back in a couple days, but then I got stranded by the fighting. They were crying so loud about my leaving, I had to sneak away while one was playing and one was sleeping. That was almost a year ago. I haven’t even been able to hear how they are doing." (Tongping Internally Displaced Persons Site, Juba, South Sudan)

25- you marvelous thing you... you fit like a goddamn glove... I like this year a lot. Already.... and it's only been 19 days.
So maybe this was the point...
So my instinct was to run... because I was sad, and you made me sad. And when I drank it hurt all over, and I could see you in my eyes with your people.... your real people.... and it hurt because I would never be one of them.... But you so willingly became my person, for a short time... and maybe the point was this. That I would run away and that I would open up my heart and soul and let the world fill me, that I would devour these beautiful new experiences, because you had left a void, a place for them to go. And maybe you opened my eyes to other people... If this one... is as wonderful as he seems... maybe that was the point of it all.

i think, on some level, i write so i don’t forget. i have this fear that one day i’m going to wake up and not remember a thing about my life. i think a big part of who you are lives in those little moments in your life. you know, the ones that you look back on and think to yourself, damn i am...
