Most kinds of media is ok, like tv show/movie/book/game etc.

No real people, I recommend @rpfshippingpolls for that. No dsmp-styled mcyt characters either.

Incestuous ships, ships between adults and minors, normal characters x loli/shota are not allowed. Inappropriate age gaps may also disqualify a ship if it's like 11 y/o with 16 y/o. I think using common sense is enough.

Feel free to ask if you are unsure of anything.

I watched Who Framed Roger Rabbit with Shippit yesterday, we watched Cool World today, and we will probably watch Space Jam tomorrow. Cool world has an insane plot and some absolutely ridiculous writing, but its hilarious because of it. Plus it has one of the weirdest sex scenes we've ever seen in a film. 4/10.

tis queer month and I am somewhat more powerful

SO. submit your fave queer character(s) to the form linked below and we're going to do elimination style polls:

a list of character names is assembled. I shuffle it a random number of times.

that list is split into however many necessary groups and put up as polls, likely with a 3 day live time.

whoever has the least votes (# of characters to be dropped each round will be determined by how many names I get in total, but I'll let you know) is dropped from the list

the list is randomized again, with the goal of balancing heavy hitters, and a new set of polls begins

repeat until there's one queer left standing.

Guess That Ship Tournament Season 20: Submissions OPEN!

The Concept: You describe your ship* to me, I pick out the submissions which I find most compelling and pit them against each other without revealing who they are, people vote on them, and their identities gets revealed once they’re eliminated.

Every other season, ships from fanon (something unofficial derived from the canon of a work), fanworks, and OCs will be allowed. This is not the case for Season 20.

Something special for this season will be a loser's bracket: the identities of the losers of Round 1 will not be revealed immediately. Instead, they will compete in their own bracket, and the winner will face against the finalists in the main bracket.

Submission Guidelines

*For the purpose of this tournament, relationships do not have to be romantic in nature. (I’m sometimes going to use “ship” as a shorthand, just know I mean “relationships” in general.)

Relationship can be between any number of characters.

Real people are accepted if they’ve been dead for more than 100 years.

Roleplay characters are accepted as long as the description only pertains to the characters and not the players.

Ships based off of fanon depictions of characters (including crossover ships and crackships) and ships involving characters from a fanwork are not accepted. (If a fanon depiction of a character has been accepted before in this tournament, their canon depiction may be accepted if it is different enough.)

OCs and OC x Canon are not accepted.

No overtly NSFW submissions. (Mentioning they have sex or are a sex worker is fine, but try to avoid anything more than that.)

Two submission per person. (Do not submit the same ship twice. I cannot enforce this on Google Forms without forcing you to log in. So just be champs and respect this rule.)

Failure to follow these guidelines may result in all of your submissions being disqualified for this season.

Summary Guidelines

Selection Process: I will read through the list of descriptions submitted without reading their names and pick the most compelling submissions. Then, I will check the name to make sure there's no repeats.

Keep it concise, but also bring something unique to the table. Make sure to describe their relationship, not just summarize the events of the story.

Previous submissions for reference. The ideal submission should be 1-2 paragraphs, but you can make it as short or long as you want. Please keep in mind the longer your submission, the less likely it is to get in.

Tips on what to avoid while writing a summary can be found here.

Descriptions should be based on the canon of the source material (e.g. You can say “they love each other” instead of “they’re lovers” if their romantic nature is debatable.). The characters do not have to be canonically in a romantic relationship to be submitted, only that they have some sort of dynamic in canon.

Avoid author commentary. (e.g. "They're canonically x," "I love them," "Play/watch/read this," etc.)

Use canonical pronouns.

Avoid identifying information or setting specific giveaways. (i.e. ninja village, space necromancers.)

The more popular your ship is the more vague the description should be.

Exclusions

Generally, ships that have been accepted into previous seasons will not be accepted. For a complete list, please look here. (No need to look through the whole list, just Ctrl+F to find the ship you want.)

Due to them winning S19, ships containing the characters Cdotkom, Danno Cal Drawings, and BamBaeYoh from YouTube Short Wars will not be accepted in S20. Ships containing them will be allowed again in S21.

Any submissions from Harry Potter will also not be included.

Notes

I will not vet the ships/pairings for problematic content.

If you participate in this tournament, know that you run the risk of unintentionally voting for your nOTP. The mod does not take any responsibility for any distress that may cause you.

There will be a limit of one ship per media in the bracket. You may submit two ships from the same media, but keep in mind only one ship will be able to get in. (A series or franchise will generally count as one media, but they will be evaluated on a case by case basis.)

Please do not submit ships from media less than one month old at the time of posting so people don't get spoiled. This isn't a hard rule, but it's worth keeping in mind when submitting.

Valdemar (The Arcana)

Problematic because: "Valdemar is Lucio’s Quaestor and head physician during the Red Plague. They’re hired to help cure the plague, especially Lucio, but they deliberately drag the process out because they’re more interested in experimenting than helping people. They dissect bodies (and vivisect people alive - like, they're obsessed with vivisection), use the plague as an opportunity for 'medical research', and are tied to the secret dungeon/lab under the palace. They also make deals with the Devil, weaken Death through that connection, and are one of the most openly cruel courtiers. They’re not conflicted about it either." Propaganda: "They’re one of the few Arcana characters who doesn’t really bother pretending to be nicer than they are. They’re calm, clinical, creepy, and very direct about their interests, which makes them stand out from the other courtiers in a different way. I like them because they bring a more medical-horror flavour to the story. Lucio is selfish and theatrical, Vulgora is loud violence, Volta is sad hunger, Vlastomil is gross and corrupt, but Valdemar is controlled. They feel dangerous because they’re curious, not because they’re angry, which makes them very effective as a villain."

vs. Keith (Date Everything!)

Problematic because: "He starts off as this sweet older skeleton key you find in the crawlspace, and the game very much wants you to go “aw, poor guy, why was he left down there?” He helps you open the attic, talks about not remembering what happened to him, and if you follow his route he gets you to help hack into an old online journal/account to “solve” his past. The route also keeps warning you not to question his innocence too much if you want the Love ending, which is already a little suspicious in hindsight. Then you Realize him - basically turn him into a human - and the nice old man act drops. He reveals he’s been using you, takes your money, and bails. So he builds trust, plays vulnerable, gets the player to help him access money, hurts Dorian in the process too, and then leaves everyone standing there like. Oh. Okay. Grandpa was evil actually." Propaganda: 1. "Keith is a really fun kind of awful because the betrayal actually works on the player. You meet him, he seems gentle and sad, he has history with Dorian, and the whole game has trained you to expect weird little object-people with emotional baggage. So when it turns out he’s been playing you, it’s mean, but it’s also kind of brilliant. I like that he’s one of the few routes where the game goes, no, sometimes the suspiciously charming person really was suspicious. He’s horrible for it, but I can’t pretend it wasn’t memorable." 2. "keith is so evil for making me care about him first. like sir you are a key. why are you emotionally scamming me. he acts all sweet and wounded and “oh no i was abandoned in the crawlspace” and then the second he gets a human body he’s off with your money. and poor dorian has to deal with the emotional fallout too!! awful man. but also unfortunately very funny" 3. "getting catfished by a skeleton key is insane and he deserves recognition for that alone. he’s lying in the crawlspace like a sad little object granddad, gets you to trust him, gets you to help with his whole mystery, and then immediately pulls the dating sim equivalent of stealing your wallet and fleeing the country"

Problematic Character Tournament

Welcome! This is a tournament intended to find Tumblr's Favourite Problematic Guy (/gender neutral).

Characters with all levels of "problematic" are allowed, but the general baseline is they have to... well, not be a great person. Maybe they're an asshole. Maybe they committed a genocide or two. As long as they've done something that would make people slap the word Problematic on them, send them on in!

Obviously, bad characters who did bad things are going to appear here, and they'll likely have some level of fondness expressed for them in the notes. If you're someone who thinks someone's taste in fictional characters reflects their real-life morals, this probably isn't the blog for you. Other than that, everything will be tagged with the names of characters and fandoms, so easy to avoid anything you have a specific issue with!

A similar tournament for problematic ships is something I'm likely to do once this concludes (unless people have other ideas that drum up more interest first), but that's a topic for later!

Note that it's required to specify why a character is problematic and why you like them/why they're a compelling character - just throwing in the name and nothing else would make it very hard for me to figure out who counts and why, plus it gives people unfamiliar with the characters something to go on when it comes to voting :)

There is no way to explain this in a way that conveys how funny it was in the moment because it's one of those jokes born from a tired mind and a giggly mood. Jack and I were watching Venom 2, I said something I barely remember about Venom's abs but accidentally just said "ab" and it spiraled to hell from there into fuckboys bragging about their ab.

(after the movie ended we were both like "…there was something really stupid we were laughing about earlier, but I can't remember what it was." Then like 5 minutes before bedtime Jack remembered the phrase "my ab" and I had to make the poll before I forgot the funniest joke in the world again)
