āHiking Tripā and Life
So remember how I thought I was going to be going hiking with my mom, my step-dad, and the puppies?
Not so much. Apparently that was never even the plan. We were supposed to go hiking with my two brothers and my mom. No step-dad, no puppies. But the hiking thing got cancelled altogether. We ended up going to this restaurant we really like (called Meatheads), then a tiny bit of shopping, then to a place called Adventure Realm, and then to the Cheesecake Factory.Ā
My family and I love Meatheads. We regularly (about once or twice a year) drive an hour or two completely out of our way to go eat at this restaurant.Ā
Then we walked over to Nordstrom Rack to look at some clothes at the urging of my brother. He refuses to wear anything thatās not fairly high-end designer. I think itās kind of ridiculous, but I have a certain amount of appreciation for the fact that everyone kinda has thatĀ āone thingā that they are willing to spend all of their money on in a way that makes little sense to others. Mine is supporting bands. My friend Breās is make-up. My brotherās is designer clothes. Everyone has their thing.
Afterwards, at my urging, we went to a place called Adventure Realm. Basically, it involves you picking out a wand, and then going around pointing it at things and having them respond. There areĀ āquestsā and stuff... Unfortunately, itās on kind of a small scale so after you wander through it the first few times on your first quest, you kinda learn where everything is and it becomes ridiculously easy after that. For, you know, a twenty-three year old and sixteen year old. (Only my youngest brother would participate in this activity. My mom and other brother refused). Despite the fact that we were probably a little old for it, we had fun. Being able to make things react by pointing your wand at it just doesnāt really get old.
And then we went to eat at the Cheesecake Factory. We made plans to go because Chris (the elder of my two younger brothers) had asked to go. Of course, when it came time to actually go he said he didnāt want to. He also refused to order food and just ate the free bread. Chris kind of refuses to show interest in anything. Seriously. He just never wants to do anything. Even when we agree to do something he wants to do he then says he doesnāt want to do it. Anyway. The food was obviously superb. I got this wild mushroom soup which I would eat every day for the rest of life if I could. If I ever have a wedding (which at this point I find unlikely) I will serve this soup. I also got an antioxidant salad. It was pretty good. It probably would have been better if my nose cold hadnāt prevented me from experiencing the full range of flavors the salad had to offer.
Also, our server was really, really cute. Not like stunningly gorgeous, but perfectly attractive to my tastes. He looked like a cross between Seth Green (who plays Oz in Buffy the Vampire Slayer; Oz is the One True Love of my life) and this guy named Todor in a band I love called Marina City. Iāve never been tempted to leave my number for a server before, but I swear if I lived in the area I would have. Even though I donāt live in the area I almost did.
So that was yesterday. Today, Iām finally (FINALLY) moving on with life stuff
I got impatient and emailed the guy Iāve kept in contact with at the hotel toĀ āmake sure I turned in the paperwork okayā a couple days ago. Of course, what I really wanted was to set up an orientation day. My brilliant plan worked and he finally got me in contact with HR and we got that day set up for next Wednesday. I also called the apartment company I want to rent with and asked why I hadnāt received the paperwork I was supposed to. Turns out Iād accidentally given them the wrong email (whoops). So I filled out all that paperwork (shout out to the really nice, super pretty girl who works there who made filling out all the paperwork ridiculously easy and quick) and got it turned in. I think that, hopefully, as soon as the hotel verifies that everything I said about my income is true and correct, I should be able to get the apartment (!!!!). Iām so excited.Ā
If everything goes as planned (Iām knocking on wood just for typing that phrase) I should move in to my new apartment on Friday the 24th. Hopefully. Thank God for making everything work out as far as all this goes. Everything could possibly have gone wrong, and divine guidance really pulled this through.
Iām attaching pictures of my puppies to the end of this, because even though we didnāt go hiking together I still got to see them and I love them very much. The black one is named Stark, the brown is named Ragen.
