i love piracy i love open source software i love offline software i love non-profit software projects i love EVERYONE. i love archive.org and ao3 and annas archive and a bunch of other beautiful websites and databases and archives i am not naming bc they are slightly more legally grey. i love every single software engineer and non-profit server host and contributor and just, guy-who-explains-shit-to-idiots-(affectionate)-on-the-forum, i love everyone who does a thankless and unpayed job just because they want to be helpful.

i love the internet as the most darling disapproval of "nothing is free, no one will do anything for free". i love the trillion-trillion words of writing and music and pages of beautiful art and all the freely made and given and updated and fixed and fine-tuned software. i love the community i love the flawed but genuine efforts. i hate the way for profit corporations have destroyed this place but there is some sick joy to be found when you realize just how hard theyve had to fight to make it this way, how much still remains. how unnatural this is.

people are right when they say the internet has killed so many and will kill many more, that it can be a force of great harm but GOD do i love it anyways. all the art and connection and beauty in this place is fucking magical. every single story of love and connection encoded in these wires. everything forgotten everything saved forever everything waiting to be rediscovered. every secret within. i love this place because i love humanity.
