while amara was used to be around people, growing up with four siblings didn’t leave a lot of privacy, getting back to that again, when she was still trying to find her footing was definitely an adjustment. luckily she had managed to find a bit of comfort within ivy.
the corners of her lips turned up in a small smile when the barista slid her cup across the counter, uttering a simple ‘thank you’ before turning her attention to her roommate. she nodded, pulling the straw between her lips to take a sip before answering. “i could eat.” while the diner food wasn’t her preferred meal, she had found a simple joy in trying the different things on the menu.
IVY WAS WELL AWARE THAT SIRENS didn’t really eat food. she’d been around the block long enough to know that much. still for the sake of keeping themselves secret, it was good to be seen eating. at least that was the only reason ivy could really account for why the species even bothered. she would gladly have given up eating if it wasn’t required.
❝ so, ❞ she started. ivy was still getting used to pleasantries and small talk. she avoided it more often than she probably should have. ❝ what have you been up to today? ❞ she asked, quirking her head to the side. if anything, ivy wanted to talk with people as little as possible. she was a danger to others. she fooled herself thinking things would be different, now it was just a matter of figuring out the ways in which she could barely tap her toe in society and survive.
