But that would make sense” Given that the boy was a Darkholme, it would be a fair enough assumption that he was inherently a trouble maker; Given his own parentage Adale had gotten similar treatment. Sure, most assumptions would be correct, but his illicit behaviour was a different nature than that of Azazel’s. “Of course. Naturally no one would expect someone dressed for a country club to be dealing.” He laughed at his casual snipe at Roman’s attire. “Using perhaps. But I mean, I would suspect most college students of casual drug use, regardless of their appearance.”

Adale gave the woman a wild look as she walked off, then looked back to the young man. “No you really don’t.” He stated, eyes assaulted by the boys bright sweater. “Though, it’s a good cover I suppose. Wouldn’t want to be too obvious.” Speaking from experience, Adale had heard his share of strange comments in regards to his appearance and his occupation- both his legal and side jobs.

Like father, like son — to an extent. John was a lot of things, and a little more like Thomas than he’d ever admit. Bitter? Sure. Angry? Accurate. However, one thing about John Constantine was that he could (and often did) find a pickaxe or shovel and manage to somehow find a way to dig himself even lower. It’s quite easy to descend when you were more or less born in the dirt to start off with, and it’s a constant state to see or bear witness to. With or without his consent… or good intentions.

John’s fingers traced an arcane symbol under the table, quickly reforming the smoke into an ethereal viper that curled around the back of the Scouser’s throat, and pointed its snout at Adale. “Nah, squire — this is me bein’ friendly.” Sarcasm drips out of John’s switchblade smile as the viper inhaled and hissed silently, putting its fangs on display before it dissipated in midair. In some ways, his statement was true. He could be far more cruel than what he was (and was leaning towards), but in another… it’d take more energy than he was willing to spend at the moment (which that too could change). Fucking demons. He reached for the nearby bottle, eyes still wary and still irritated as he continued, “So, either you’re curious, or you’re an upstart that thinks that they can do what the First of the Fallen or the Presence themselves couldn’t do… and/or you’re a berk. Which is it, then?”

Adale rolled his eyes at John's magical threat, before baring his own fangs at the creature just before it dissolved into smoke. "Mark me more toward curious." He said warily. If John's quick performance was anything to go by, he was definitely the type of person who's good side Addy wanted to stay on.

"I think you have it all wrong," He says with a laugh, as he takes a seat opposite of the mage. "I'm really no more of a demon than you are. As far as blood goes." Adale admitted, trying to defuse the situation. "Not here to try and drag you to hell or anything." His spiked tail flicked back and forth, much like that of a curious felines. "Promise" He raised his right hand and grinned, his fangs probably coming off more threatening than intended.

“Whatever gave you that idea, squire?” John’s tongue is sharp, whet on the hangover he’s been nursing after one of the roughest weekends of the year for him. Especially when it’s just after Mother’s Day, and the previous Friday was his sodding birthday – a two for one special that’s full of binge drinking & thoughts of his mum that continued to haunt him for the whole weekend. His general patience for demons and their ilk is cut that much shorter, and John is less than inclined to be anything sort of social today – more so than usual.

The mage pinches the bridge of his nose, irritation cutting through his swimming conscience just long enough to say, “I don’t have all bleedin’ day; out with it.”

Since coming to Paragon, Adale had been meaning to pay a visit to the mage, but he hadn’t anticipated doing so at such a bad time. He was used to seeing people at their lowest point, so John being an angry drunk didn’t phase him in the slightest.  

The demon took a drag of his cigarette and blew a puff of smoke in the mage’s direction. “I wish I could say I had a reason for bothering you today, but I don’t.” He gave a slight smirk. “I just wanted to pay you a visit, given your notorious reputation. You don’t seem to be in the mood for a social visit though. Not that I care.”

But magician’s previous countenance of anger MELTS away as he starts chuckling , taking his payment and looking up at a newly approaching face with a grin curling his lips. ❝ Dude was fuckin’ dumb to just walk away like that , you know ?? Look at the card I just pulled. ❞ He reveals the card from the deck - it’s not an average tarot card , due to the fact the portrait and the name to match are that of a CELEBI. Pokemon cards. He’s reading pokemon cards. ❝ Y’know , it’s said that anyone who encounters Celebi is blessed with a bright and shining future. Sucks for him but GREAT for you. ❞   

Adale laughed to himself as he watched the exchange. Fortune tellers of the boys kind always amused him and he was truly interested in seeing what he had to say about his future. That was until he got a glimpse of the card he had pulled, one not in any arcana that the half-demon was familiar with. “It’s amazing what people over-look these days.” Moving closer to the table, Adale got a better look at the card and he had to admit, it was ornate looking enough to pose as a tarot card to the untrained eye. “It does look fairly convincing though.”

Adalé gave a long sigh, releasing a stream of smoke as he looked on the aftermath of the storm. It had been awhile since he had seen one of this scale first hand. 

 Since he was a doctor, officially, he felt the need to offer his name to the list of volunteers to give simple first aid to those harmed by the storm. Hippocratic Oath be damned, but offering himself up like this was out of character, but he had a part to play. If it were up to him, he would choose to leave out humans from the privilege of his services, but of course that would cause more problems than he was willing to deal with.

The sound of someone approaching caught his attention. He had been told that someone would be assigned to help him. As he turned to look at the person nearing him, he took one last drag of the cigarette before dropping it to the ground and extinguishing it. “I take it you’ll be the one helping me tend to these injured citizens?” He forces a smile, flashing fangs that, even in his ‘presentable’ human form, aren’t masked. “Dr.  Adalé Zhivago, pleasure.” He said, sticking out his hand to the other person.

“Feck off with that, yeh dick.” Cass’ laughter is no less genuine, despite the sneaking suspicion that this wouldn’t be last time he’d hear the tune. Hell, he’d likely hear it before the night is through if he really wanted to hedge his bets.

knows a guy with bloody Jedi mind powers something called Genesis inside him, and a firecracker of a woman – both of them both of them were human as far as Cass could gleam. Wasn’t that weird, all things considered. But that? He doesn’t hear it often enough. A smile a couple of shades away from subtle twists on his lips before he shrugs his shoulders slightly.

Cassidy’s brows knit together once he heard Adale talk about, one hand on the stick shift and the other over the space that a beating heart once was once upon a time in his chest, mocking hurt and surprise. He switched gears pretty smoothly, surprisingly, as he shifted into first gear. But, then again, he wasn’t shitfaced just yet, and it was Cassidy’s waking hours. “I will in me bollix get rid of the auld fella – it has character, I’ll have yeh know, and besides… the clankin’ an’ whingin’s a feature.“ It really wasn’t, but Adale didn’t need to know that. “What has Ol’ Reliable ever done to yeh?”

Adale made a mental note to send a clip of the earworm to Cass later, just to be particularly annoying. 

It wasn’t usual for the half-demon to have such an attachment to anyone given that he tended to out live most of his friends, but Cassidy was one of the few exceptions. Their wild benders over the years definitely solidified their relationship. Adale owed some of his best business to Cassidy, due to the fact that the Vampire was always ready to test and determine his best product.

“It just... sounds sketchy.” Adale said thoughtfully. “You know it isn’t often that I’m in a vehicle anyway but this definitely wasn’t what I had in mind to refresh the feeling.”  He rolled his eyes at the justification of the noises it made. “I’m pretty sure those sounds aren’t normal, or even good, for that matter.”

“Consider me surprised.” At the Frozen reference, Cass couldn’t help but chuckle in response, “Don’ get me stuck on that shite. I’ll have it stuck in my head all week.” The Beast had been rather scratchy as of late; he could definitely make use of whatever Adale had planned for them that night to try out. What’s the worst thing that could happen to someone already dead and gone, technically?

“Or yeh missed me that much.“ Cassidy’s brows waggled at Adale in the passenger’s seat for a moment before the Irishman barked out a laugh. He’d been keeping quiet as of late; didn’t want those uber religious, vampire hunting fuckers to catch wind of him here in Paragon, especially with Jesse around and the fledging kid. He doubted that they’d find him after one night of taking the edge off of his hunger. 

He closed the truck’s door behind him, and put the keys in the ignition. “Always down fer that. So, where to?”

Adale laughed at Cassidy’s reaction to the reference. “Be glad I don’t know more of the song, otherwise I would definitely try to get it stuck in your head.” He then made a mental note to look it up for the sole purpose of being annoying later. 

Adale rolled his eyes at the vampire. “You got me, I definitely missed you.” There was a bit of truth to that. Cass was one of the few people he could genuinely have a good time with. JUst let loose and not worry about any sort of the anti-mutant bullshit that he usually preoccupied himself with.

He explained how to get to his place, a decent sized cabin on the forrests edge, as he listened to the sound of Cassidy’s rickety truck start up. “You know Cass, you should really think about getting rid of this thing. I feel like it’s gonna die or explode or something at any moment.”

Kurt’s tail bolted upright in surprise, and what short fur he had stood on end as he connected the dots from the voice to Adale’s appearance. His surprise melted into pure excitement as his tail began to wag a mile a minute the moment they connected. “Adale! [I didn’t know you were in town! It is so good to see you again!]”

Adale couldn’t help but chucking a bit at his brother’s reaction to realizing he was there. Though he’d be lying if he tried to deny that his tail was happily swaying in a similar fashion, though not as fast. Despite them being on opposite sides, Kurt being one of the major players in the X-Men and Adale being a former member of the Brotherhood and still held a lot of their ideals.  “Yeah I meant to tell you but I figured surprising you would be more fun.” He gave a wide, genuine smile, which was very rare for him. “It’s very nice to see you as well. How have you been?” Adale said excitedly, interested in Kurt’s response.

“i do hope that’s not the advice you give your patients,” ramona mused, eyebrows lifting as she looked towards her old friend. “seems a bit… new age.” 

“Of course not, chérie.” Adale laughed, “My patients get more socially acceptable advice. Stuff like ‘take your vitamins’ and ‘exercise daily’ stuff doctors generally advise. Though, I might have suggested that a patient or two get fucked, for stress relief reasons.” It was always refreshing to slip out of his ‘good doctor’ persona and just be himself with his friends. The fact that this moment was shared with someone he previously assumed was dead made the moment even greater.

“Take ten, and we’ll start the scene back from the top, ja?” A smile filled with pride crossed Kurt’s features as the group began to disperse for the brief break they were given. His class had been working hard on getting the scene down, and the effort of his class was commendable. There were a few small details that had to be smoothed out, but he was sure that they would get it right after they reconvened.

He waved to the person nearest to him, and motioned to the closest door, “I was going to get some drinks and snacks; would you like to come along?”

Adale had been lingering in the shadows for a little while now, simply watching his brother as he directed his students through the scene they were working on. When Kurt mentioned taking a break, he stepped forward, making his presence known. “Sure, that sounds great, mein Bruder.” He said, wondering if Kurt had even realized who he was speaking to.

being on midgard was boring, so many mundane humans walking around treating asgardians like gods which made them want to roll their eyes. no wonder people like odin or thor acted like they were so high and mighty when it came to midgard. finding something to do was hard, something that interested them usually meant something that caused destruction, the only thing they were good at. bored was a bad emotion for clo to have, especially for the class of students they noticed as they walked by. their eye brow raised as they muttered some words under their breath, a spell a smile sorcerers illusion to cause some fear without any immediate destruction. as they walked away, the sound of screams grew louder and louder until the students burst from the door, running in all directions. “ pathetic. “ they mumbled out as they crossed their arms over their chest. 

From time to time Adale attended Paragon as a guest lecturer for some of the beginning doctorate courses, which wasn’t his favourite thing to-do he still made the most of his time spent there. Access to the campus offered him the opportunity to visit with his brother (one of the few people he honestly enjoyed visiting with) and people watch. The fact that the campus was shared by humans and mutants alike bothered him slightly, jabbing at the elitist, former Brotherhood member in him. It was nice though, at the very least, to be able to walk the campus in his true form.  The sudden stampede of students pouring out of one of the classrooms certainly got his attention, but even more so the lone individual who seemed completely unphased by the event. Adale looked straight at the individual and raised an eyebrow at them, as if beckoning them to comment.

A well of excitement began to bubble in his chest, where his heart should be at the sight of Adale. It brought a wider grin to his expression than normal upon seeing his friend; the impending hint that he was about to go on a bender was right around the corner, and he’d be lying if he said that he wasn’t interested in it. Hell, the vampire’s always interested; desperate for anything that can take the edge off the ever-present hunger that scratches ravenously at his insides and begs for release.

Besides, there were far worse things that lingered in the dark than yellow eyes and a spade tipped tail. Cassidy would know; he’s been one of them for the past century, and would continue to be in that space. He motioned with his head at Adale in greeting and replied to his comment with a hopeful, excited touch to his comment, “Didn’ know yer out here, or I’d hurry up and finished sooner.”

Once he’d reach his old truck, he unlocked the passenger’s door first. “Hard day or just because…?” Cass paused to send a text to Jesse that he’d be back later, possibly tomorrow morning at the latest, and started to unlock the driver’s door.

“I thought I’d surprise you.” After seeing Cassidy in passing at the holiday market, Adale had been planning his next wild evening with the vampire. “I wasn’t in any particular hurry and besides, what was the line from that overplayed kids movie? ‘The cold never bothered me anyway.’” He laughed. 

As Cass unlocked the door to his truck, Adale mentally chuckled at the idea of using conventional means of transportation. With his teleportation powers he rarely spent much time in any sort of vehicle. But it’d probably be better that Cass at least got his truck to his place as opposed to leaving it in the lot, nevermind that he couldn’t see anyone wanting to steal the thing. 

“Just because,” He replied as he opened the door and getting in. “Plus I have some stuff I want you to try. We can catch up, get wasted and just have a generally good time.”

“Is the staring necessary, or do you plan to eventually spit out whatever words your brain manages to come up with?” Sure, her face was bruised and bloody, but in a town like Paragon, she hardly expected that to be out of the norm. “Seriously, either say something, or keep moving.”

"I was simply trying to determine if you needed medical assistance or not,” Adale said calmly as he continued to look her up and down. “I’m a doctor.” Unless it was absolutely necessary, Adale didn’t often offer his medical assistance to people he saw on the street, which was why he was staring. But since the woman decided to call him out, he might as well mention it in the event that she did need help.

Adale was vaguely aware of what time Karma closed, so he lingered around Cassidy’s truck, waiting for the vampire to come outside. Under the dim lighting of the street light, he probably would have scared the shit out of anyone who happened to see him- yellow eyes glowing as his pointed tail swayed idly. 

“It’s about time you came out, I was beginning to wonder if you even worked tonight.” Addy said with a grin as he finally spotted Cassidy come out the clubs back entrance.

“Interesting.” Adale said slowly. Time travel was something he had heard about but never had much actual knowledge of. “I can only imagine. I’ve been around since the late 1800s and I thought adjusting to the various changes over the years was hard enough, but you,” He gave a quick chuckle. “I can definitely get how rough it is for you.”
