Sam had spent so much time on his job and finding success in that, that he’d neglected his dream. Only recently had he become determined to at least adopt a child – to become a father, the thing he always wanted to be. As Logan revealed that he’d started feeling attraction to men, he moved over and put a hand on the other’s shoulder. “You’d never been attracted to men before?” he asked, bright green eyes curious. “I guess everyone realizes at different times…” The older doctor’s voice was calm, soothing. “I’ve known since as long as I can remember.”

«Well, it all started when we got a new neighbor, but I thought he was hot enough to make anyone feel attracted to him.» Logan admitted with a shrug. «We even made jokes about it at home, but maybe that was what opened my eyes... and suddenly I couldn’t unsee it anymore.» It would have been easy for him to play pretend and hold onto the life he was used to, but it didn’t seem fair. It wouldn’t have been. «I don’t think I ever questioned my preferences before, you know? Everyone simply expected things to happen the way they did. Me included.» And he didn’t regret it. He got to be the father of a beautiful child that he’d fight for and he knew that mattered the most. «Hang on. You’re into men?» Logan couldn’t recall seeing the other doctor with a woman before, no, but he never thought that this was the reason why.

His mouth opened to respond, but he paused and closed it with a funny look for a second. “I usually do,” he said slowly, not sure how he felt with the suggestion since it was rather well known to do such a thing.

«Good, good. You would be surprised how many people don’t follow that advice.»

“Ha! Thanks. See the tall blonde with the beard over there?” he said, pointing to a man who seemed to be ambushed with questions at the moment. “That’s him. Ben put this whole thing together,” he said, nodding towards one of the nearby paintings.

“Mmm… Not talented with visual art, no. I mean, I can draw, but not enough to make a living out of it or anything. I’m a performer, though,” he said with a nod. “What about you?”

«Hm. You can tell him that it’s not bad.» The male chuckled. Not bad was an understatement, of course. The whole thing was quite impressive, but he was sure that the other guy understood that without words.

«A performer? What do you do?» He questioned in curiosity before he shrugged. «I’m a doctor. Logan Daniels. It’s nice to meet you.»

“Hm… For me it’s the unpacking. I love finding new places. It’s fun.” Ian grinned brightly and winked at the other. “Totally! I know a place near here.”

«It can be fun, in the right company.» Logan admitted. «That sounds great. I am totally ready to get out there for tonight.» Staying inside of the apartment all day long was depressing.

“And a lot of hassle,” Matt noted. “Luckily, it’s more of a movie thing than anything I’ve experienced in real life,” Matt said. 

“Food and darts are great though. You want this pub right here. The one across the street is the bad pub. Stay away from the bad pub unless you wanna be sad and sick,” Matt said, pulling the one up on his phone so the guy could see the address.

«Now I feel better.» Logan said as he chuckled, relieved that it only happened in a movie and not to this guy. 

«Sad and sick? Nope, that’s definitely on my list. I’ll go with foods and darts.» He looked at the address and nodded before he smiled. «Thanks.»

Sam was all about making other people, even at the cost of his comfort. He also wasn’t very good at sitting around doing nothing. “I think I was just meant to be the boring type. We do need boring people in this world…” Sam wanted a family. A white picket-fence. A dog, a lover, a happy home. He rarely spoke about it though, afraid he’d already run out of time. “What happened? I mean, not all marriages keep love forever. Which is sad, but…”

«We do.» Logan agreed, even though their definition of boring probably wasn’t the same one. He wanted the same thing: A family, a white picket-fence, a dog, a lover. Maybe it seemed strange because he threw all that away, but that didn’t mean that he wouldn’t want it in a different situation. «Love wasn’t the problem. I loved her, I still do, but I wasn’t in love with her anymore. I could have stayed with her and I know she would’ve been happy. But I couldn’t do it anymore. A marriage can’t work if you start to think that your wife isn’t as sexy as her gay brother.»

“Yeah, you get to see new places and unpacking can be like a fun challenge.” He admitted before chuckling. “Or I could tell you where to put things.” He offered jokingly. “If you change your mind, I’d love to help.” He nodded happily walking in the direction of the bar. “Okay, let’s go. You like meeting new people?“ 

«Huh. I never tried to look at it that way.» Logan didn’t think that his opinion about unpacking boxes would change, but he could try. «Thanks for the offer.» The man grinned. «But I would have to call you all of the time and ask you where we decided to put things. It’s been a while since I lived on my own.» He laughed before he gave him a nod. «Sure. Thanks.» Logan followed him, thinking about his question. «Like is not the right word. I think it’s hard and stressful. Let’s just say a change is in order.»

«You are actually blushing.» Logan stated somewhere between laughter and confusion. «It’s fine, you know. I don’t mind if you look.» His self esteem was well developed, sometimes too well. He didn’t mind showing off, not the slightest bit. «Thanks.» He said after glancing down at the silk sheet. «That’s way better than what I could’ve done.»

“I think moving is all pretty great!” He’d done so a few times over the years before ending up in Little Italy. He found unpacking to be therapeutic in a way. “If you need help unpacking, I can help.” He offered, unsure if the other had finished or not. “I can show you where it is. Follow me. I don’t know if it’s the best bar, but it’s the one I meet a lot of awesome people. And that’s awesome.” He smiled. 

«You like it?» That couldn’t be said about Logan though he went through worse, of course. «Thanks for the offer, but it’s fine. I think it would make things worse. I can’t figure out where to put things on my own. I couldn’t possibly tell you where to put anything.» He explained with a chuckle. «It sounds awesome, yeah. Take me there?»

«I thought this was supposed to look artistic. The way I wrap a towel around my waist is not artistic.» Logan laughed, already pulling his shirt over his head. He really wasn’t a shy guy, so he did not mind. At all. «Okay. Please, don’t blush.» It was one of the things he always found irresistible and they couldn’t have any of that right now. The doctor continued to undress himself before he glanced at the other guy. «So... On to the silk sheet wrapping?»

Jamie laughed and shook his head. “I definitely don’t… I’m the scruffier of the lot of us, and decided to look good is all. Not that I normally dress bad, but I don’t do a suit and tie very often, unlike him,” he said, canting his head towards a tall blonde male in a similar suit surrounded by people asking him questions.

“Agreed, I dunno how he does it, but he’s had a knack for it since we were kids,” he said. From his southern accent, it was clear that he wasn’t a New York native.

«Suit and tie look good on you, that is for sure.» But the guy was handsome so it was quite likely that he would look good in everything. «Who is he? Your brother?» Logan wondered.

«Some people are more talented at things than others. I can’t say I ever tried doing art. What about you?»

“I.. know about what they can do, but I’m not sure if I believe it or not,” Bouc admitted with a small shrug. “The man I bought it from said that they can help with arthritis, circulation problems, and it can kind of alert you if you’re getting sick by changing the color of your skin or something like that.”

«Impressive.» He hummed playfully. «But as a doctor I have to give you the following advice: If you ever feel sick go and see a doctor. No matter what the copper says.» The other man probably already knew that, but still.

“Still.” Marco had felt a little bad about asking. It was an innocuous question, but the answer… had not been. Marco wasn’t the type to push into people’s private lives. Offering his best reassuring grin, he immediately beamed when the other decided to take him up on his offer. “Great! C’mon, then. It’s just a block or two down.” He replied. “I feel like it’s only fair since I asked you a question and you answered—I’ll give you one in return. A freebie. Ask and I’ll answer, or whatever.”

There was no need to feel bad. Honestly. It was not like Logan was about to burst into tears. «That’s cool.» He smiled and he started to follow the other, hoping that the time at the bar would allow him to relax and forget about the day he had. «Oh god. I’m bad at asking questions. Here comes a lame one: Have you ever been married before?» It was lame, indeed, but he refused to dig much deeper than that. He barely knew the other man and he didn’t owe him anything.

A large grin came over Sam’s face when the other gave in, and he was quick to get to work. He didn’t know what had happened, but he was pleased with the results. Grabbing the nearest box, he began to get to work. “I think it’s sweet you think I’m awesome, but I’m not puttnig myself down when I say I’m boring. I’m…happy being boring.” He didn’t see what was so wrong with wanting a normal, quiet life. “I’m sure you’ll find some pretty young thing while you’re there and then I’ll go home to my cat.” The words were said in a teasing tone. He’d heard some about the divorce, and figured the young doctor was out to have fun.

How could anyone be that happy to help? It made no sense to Logan, but he knew there was no point in arguing with Sam so he let him. «You’re allowed to be boring. Boring can be good.» The younger doctor shrugged before he laughed just a little. «I wouldn’t abandon you, man.» It was no surprise that the other male knew about the divorce. His ex wife caused quite a scene in the middle of the hospital after he asked her to sign the papers. «Do you know why I broke things off?» He wondered. «Because if you don’t... I should probably tell you.» He didn’t want things to get awkward if they did end up at the bar and he started hitting on the unexpected team.

Both. It was both. It was a skill the doctor didn’t even realize he had, but the curls and the green eyes…. Well…. “I want to help. I live to help people.” Literally. “What do we talk about? The latest news in the medical field? How much residency sucked? The latest books we’ve read? …You’re probably more interesting than me.” Sam felt he’d lived a relatively normal and tame life. “…I can try it once.”

«Fine. I give up. Just grab one of the damn boxes and help.»

How did this happen? The words left Logan’s lips before he could stop them, but he decided to ease that frustration by wasting more energy, unpacking the few remaining boxes. «Stuff like that, I suppose.» He agreed with a shrug before he rolled his eyes at him. «Come on, man. You’re awesome. Start seeing it.» His next answer, however, made him grin in satisfaction. «That’s the spirit.»
