I once drove rabidly like an ambulance driver (they would salute my record time on a first gen Swift) from Angamaly to Kochi (approx 25kms) to save a 3 day old baby post cardiac surgery who had suffered a cardiac arrest. Under sterile precautions I reopened her chest on the bassinet, identified and repaired a minor twist in her coronary artery and saved the child’s life! She celebrates her 4th this February 2022. If not recognised or treated on time this can result in death, an infrequent complication from a switch operation that results from remodelling than a surgeon’s technical glitch as one (going to take a dig at a random lay media showman) would imagine. The child’s parents understandably haggled with the hospital authorities with regards to finances and spewed foul language on the medical team for a minor healed bed sore. The hospital continues to gets accolades for their remarkable corporate branding and boiler plates, their proud owner languishes in his Rolls Royce and private jets and probably even got Forbes listed (actually nobody cares) as daily auto-piloted emails fly out patting employees on their backs for a job well done. But no one will remember the foolish neuro-divergent ex-cardiothoracic surgeon that risked an RTA to save this child and many other children like her. No one will realise he gave up because he couldn’t tolerate the corporate belittling and ungratefulness. I’m not asking for a lifeline or validation. Stop harassing, insulting and disrespecting doctors. There are many who are ready to follow my footsteps. Finally, when the last of us quits you all can sit there figuring it out on a mediocre celebrity food vloggger’s channel, on how to perform your own how-many-a-uple bypasses as you please. #dontcallmedoctorsarcastically #neurodivergent #cardiacsurgeon #bekind #actuallytreatpeolplewell https://www.instagram.com/p/CXKUB4GPZ0M/?utm_medium=tumblr
