do you think calling me “angry” is an insult. every time you call me “angry” i hear your voice salt with guilt and i laugh. look how easy it is to reveal you.
anger is a healthy and natural response to oppression, nayyirah waheed (via nayyirahwaheed)
Confessions of a fitblr..
It's been 3 weeks since my last run.
Today, I crushed 7 miles and didn't die.
Thank you Jesus.
Real women put themselves FIRST.
Barbara Walters, ABC News: "Mrs. Obama, you've recently said something that I thought was very interesting for other women to hear. You said 'you put your own self highest on your priority list.' That sounds selfish?"
Michelle Obama: "No, no, it's practical. It's something that I found I needed to do for quite some time, even before the presidency. And I found it other women, in similar situated balancing career family, trying to do it all and a lot of times we just slip pretty low on our own priority list because we're so busy caring for everyone else. And one of the things that I want to model for my girls is investing in themselves as much as they invest in others."
Walters: "So what do you do?"
Obama: "Make sure I get my exercise in so I work out as much as he works out."
Walters: "I hear more."
My goal for 2012 was basically—be KIND to myself. I’ve always been too hard on myself and well I needed it. This year I have accomplished SO SO much and I am incredibly proud of myself for all that I’ve done. It wasn’t without hard work, but my attitude and most importantly self love—really took...
My goals for 2012 and 2013 reviewed-- now progressing into 2014.
How I did:
I've learned to accept myself and my abilities much more than I ever have--and as a result I've become stronger, more competitive, and a better athlete. It's amazing what you can do when you show yourself some compassion. I'm continuing to work on this goal (and I think I will for a very long time) but I can already see the effects of this effort and its only been 2 years. Amazing!
Running: a project I've started for myself shortly after my graduation from dental school in 2012. I'm still going strong! I've signed up for two half marathons this year and I'm on a training plan to improve speed. I'm also researching joining a running club. Running has become an important part of how I interact with my best friends and my boyfriend. It's woven itself into my life and I love it. One of my mantras is "Lifelong goal," and "lifelong runner" just reminding myself to be kind and remember this isn't just for today, or for this race, but forever.
This year my goals are going to be a little more measurable than empathy and caring...while those are great goals I think I need to hold myself to a higher standard.
- Finances: Monitor and stick to set budgets...instead passively watching as each category turns red on Mint.
- Create exciting and interesting running plans each month, on my own or with a running club, also follow through with at least 85% of workouts. Compete in 2-3 half marathons.
-Stay injury free! I had two major side lining injuries in 2013. I want to keep up with the stretching routines, yoga, and rest which I built into the latter half of the year's workouts.
-I had my first year without purging. We are all recovering in different ways. And I will continue to recover. Bingeing still remains a problem but I hope to recover from this too. I need to create a definitive plan for this and execute it over the next few years.
- Meditation: I'm going to combine this with yoga (which I now LOVE). I would like to do some form of meditation/yoga at least 3 times per week. Even if its only a breathing exercise.
-Career: I want to read more dental related literature and blogs outside of work and what is required of me. I'll aim for a sunday evening session of reading a week.

There should be a little tortoise too. As long as you finish the race... It doesn't matter!

Definitely starting this one this month! Beautiful booty/thighs on slate for 2014.
MARATHONS
Sometimes I get all excited on a run and say to myself---maybe now! Maybe 2014 is when I run a marathon! I should! but then I think about having to run for about three hours longer and I say no...
Here's to setting attainable goals. I really do not have time in my schedule this year to train for an entire marathon. I know that and I'm okay with it.

I am, however, signed up for 2 half marathons already! Making goals to get faster.
