There are parts from each movie that I actually like a lot. So I really couldn’t pick one over the other.

STEVE ROGERS   !

Okay. So Logan recognized him, at the very least. Good. That was a start. From what Jean Grey and the other X - Men had told him, it hadn’t seemed like the recognition had been all there when Logan had fought them. But it didn’t erase what had happened — and it certainly didn’t erase the fact that Logan was a bit of a loose gun, and no one knew which direction he was pointed at. If this was Logan at all. Part of Steve hoped … Part of Steve felt he knew. But part of him also wished to God he was wrong, because if he wasn’t, and this was Logan he’d been ordered to subdue …  “ There’s been rumors, logan. ”   Steve says, slow. He isn’t attacking : not yet. Respect, and years of knowing Logan keep his feet planted on the ground, keep him from charging forward and forcibly taking the other man down without hesitation. But that respect is warring with wariness.   “ Rumors, claims, sightings … that you’ve been working for soteira. for persephone. ”  a pause, and steve’s lips are pressed in a straight line, his eyes locked onto logan’s own. it’s a grim look, mixing dim hope that he’s wrong, that the intel had been wrong, with bone weary resignation that this? isn’t going to end well, and that he’ll have to fight one of his oldest friends. again.   “ — Is it true? Tell me it isn’t true Logan, and we can work something out here. ”

it doesn’t take super senses to see the twitch on his face,  the furrow of his brow.  logan feels himself backed into a corner,  yet again.  a wild animal.  a berserker.  he let that part of him out once before,  and he feels that if it happens again,  he can’t snap out of it.  that it would take someone like captain america to snap him out of it or put him down.  steve knows logan,  far too well to know how to do it.  but would he?  could he?   ❝   that’s...  what i’ve been tryin’ to figure out myself,  steve.   ❞   how does persephone figure into all of this?  how was she able to pull him out of heaven or hell or wherever they send people like logan?  a smarter man would have laid down the claws and went off with steve,  but logan wasn’t a smarter man.  no,  he had work to do.   

❝   ---  bad intel’s liable to get someone killed.  you know that better than anyone,  cap.  and you know if i’d be lyin’.  whoever soteira is,  and whoever persephone is,  they got a hold of me and brought me back here to do...  whatever it was i did.   ❞   he wonders,  if it’s the same as being feral again.  it isn’t  ---  there’s a difference between being berserk and someone turning you berserk.   ❝   can’t tell you if it’s true or not.  i don’t know.  what i do know is that you can have me when i tear soteira down,  find persephone,  make her tell me what she did to me,  and kill her.  until then,  stay outta my way.   ❞

 “ Logan? ”  Steve was caught off - guard for a moment, his shield lowering just a fraction, eyes widening behind his cowl. Last he’d seen his friend, he’d been six feet under, and it hadn’t looked like he’d be coming back any time soon. Or at all. There had been rumors, of course. Murmurs here and there. None of them good. Steve’s lips pressed together, shield raising again as his guard did as well. Despite Steve’s many questions – when? why? how? – he wouldn’t let it distract him out of the situation. His priority was to keep the situation contained, to deescalate.  “ Stand down, Logan. I won’t say it again. ”

❝   ...  steve.   ❞   came a time,  many times,  when logan would think about this situation.  that they’d send their best to subdue him.  regardless of their past as teammates,  friends,  brothers,  he knew there’d come a time when logan would truly be on the other side of that shield.  another set of bars opened,  allowing certain memories to flood through  ---  wartime,  avenging,  a certain trek through north korea to help a mercenary who was just like them.  he’s careful to not alarm the boy scout,  though the claws that rip through the flesh of his hands in an act of defense may light a fire instead of douse the flames.   ❝   wondered when they’d send you.  don’t wanna hurt’cha,  but m’not gonna stand down.  i know you know it’s me.   ❞

i hope everyone had a wonderful christmas,  if you celebrate.  i’m not the biggest fan of the holidays,  but i have amazing friends that make it worthwhile.  now that work is going to be slow and somewhat manageable (im telling u,  i was one more customer asking if we had airpods away from quitting),  i’ll finally be back here to actually do things.  i promise.  like really really promise.
