Hiii!:3 I love your art and i'm curious abt what you think their human designs would look like
Thank you!!<3
It's a nice one, 'cause we do have a lot of stuff to show, but couldn't have a right moment to do.. So, here they are!! We use yellow for Jack, orange for Matthew and red for Kevin
There're arts for their human looks if they were never experimented on, and more human version of toys. The Doey boys might not be that different in these two versions 'cause of their special case.. Like, we decided that it's pretty hard to make one design for Doey and not lose any of the boys special traits, so in humanised version every of them has their own look!
(more toy version)
(human version +Oliver!!)
In most of the arts they look grown up 'cause their human version where made to fit our au (but there are some small Kevin and Oliver art too <3)
Some things may contradict canon. (Read about how we think they got together for a little bit more context.)
Even tho they could build genuine relationship, they could not agree on everything.
Doey knew about Prototype's hatred for humans and they understand that part quite well. Kevin wanted to make scientists pay, Matthew understood that killing them was a nessesity, and Jack, lacking a lot of his own identity because of the accident, couldn't disagree with them about it. Not to mention how they took part in the Hour of Joy. Also, they knew about *some* violence against toys, but their main source of such news was the Prototype himself so what they got was "I punished the perpetrator".
What Doey couldn't accept was experiments that the Prototype continued. He wanted to tell them about it someday, when he thinks they would be ready to hear it. He was trying to make them bealive what he bealive. But it didn't work out. Being the victim of such experiments, they absolutly hate it. None of them can think of any reason that would be good enough to justify this "reaserch". And seeing someone such close to them being the "scientist" with the hope to find "immortality" was really devestating. Everything got even worse when they found out that Sawyer, the man that made them like this, is alive and well.
From there we don't really have one clear vision of what happened next. Maybe they confronted him and ended up fighting. Or they didn't want to aknowledge him anymore and just hid in the Safe Haven. Or maybe even something else.
But what we do know is that the Prototype firstly didn't get that they broke up. And when he did get it, he tried really hard to make everything the way it was. He tried to talk to them face to face but they just fight him off and don't listen. He tried to communicate with them through letters that Kevin destroy every time he sees one. His killing of other Safe Haven BBI toys is now not only makes his opposition weaker, but also takes away all other toys Doey has connection with.
Hello everyone!! We're alive!!!! Sadly, it's not like we will return entirely, 'cause finals are still ahead, but we have some silly little idea for au.
So, what's gonna happen if we swap the Prototype with Doey? Basically, we're swapping Oliver with Kevin, Matthew and Jack.
EXPERIMENT 1366
We're gonna start with Doey a.k.a. Oliver. Obviously, he was an orphan chosen for the experiment. Oliver might be one of the oldest kids in the Playcare. The motivation behind this experiment was to create very elastic, mobile and flexible Bigger Body. Considering the amount of material involved, scientists decided to use someone more mature because they believed it would be more successful than using younger children for this. In other words, they needed someone smart and strong enough for the experiment. Additionally, scientists are usually more successful when transplanting only one person. For them, it`s easier to control only one mind than multiple. Considering the Prototype in this au, we think Elliot Ludwig took the knowledge about his experiments to his grave. Scientists doesn't know how to recreate this basically. Oliver was lucky they didn't decide to experiment with multiple personalities on him too.
Oliver struggles significantly with his own body, because being 'the only one' inside, he finds it physically exhausting to keep himself together and maintain control over his form.
In this AU, Oliver is much calmer than his original counterpart, as he has some other problems (now he obv doesn't need to do that much and lead the toys). Since he constantly has to deal with Jack, Kevin, and Matthew, he prefers not to overexert himself.
He would notice some patterns in their behaviour and distinguish them one from another, even when they don't use their intended masks. (The boys would be incredibly surprised and pleased to find this out)
EXPERIMENT 1002
Regarding Prototype, a.k.a Jack, Kevin and Matthew, we don't have final version how they were made. Keep in mind that this is only a sketch.
It seems Jack suffered from a stroke of bad luck, because he might be in some incident, involving Elliot Ludwig, and were used for the experiment. When he was turned into a toy, scientists found out that Jack lacked the mental capacity (bc of the incident and experemantation thing), so they decided to add other boys to compensate it. In the result they made Jack"-in-the-box". For every boy they made special mask. Elliot tried to connect Jack, Kevin and Matthew to this archetypes through exaggerating one of their character traits. In other words, he was simplyfing boys characters to make them more functional and entertaining.
It left a huge impact on them and even after finding out about their consciousnesses, after distinguishing each other, after the Hour of Joy, they're still might act artistically and comically, as they were programmed to do.
Considering their specific build, especially that this body is smaller than original one, and contex, boys are prone to manic behavior and sudden mood swings. Moreover, their voicebox very rich and advanced than the Prototype originally has due to them being made out of three kids.
Moving to their characters. Generally, we decided to leave them their tone of voice in the most parts. However, sometimes, their voices overlap each other.
Matthew remains the calmest and responsible one. He tries to counterbalance others, but considering their conditions, he's more in other boys' flow than in original. That is, he's not that effective in soothing Jack and Kevin. Matthew wants to save everyone but in his specific way. He talks less than the others. His manner of speaking is calm, in some way melancholic. Matthew uses the fewest non-verbal sounds(like sirens, music and other random things).
Kevin is the driving force behind their motivation. Most of the actions made through his will.. like, he's the most strong-willed. He's prone to radicalisation and black-white thinking. If they gathered everyone, Kevin's speeches would be on the verge of schizophrenic delirium and manifesto slogans. Kevin rather wants to take revenge on everyone who hurt him than save everyone, but he shares Matthew's desires. He's keeping them from sacrificing themselves for the salvation of others. Kevin's speaks neutrally and calmly, with notes of anger. Sometimes he's really loud, wich supplemented with anger fully.
Jack has one braincell. He, just like Kevin, tends to have sudden mood swings and overreaction. He jokes a lot, some of his jokes might be good and funny, and others are inappropriate, creepy and annoying. Also, we think, he's in control most of the time being the first one in the body. Jack is a talkative one and he makes all of the negotiations most of the time. He does everything for the love of the game, he lives in the moment. Apparently, thinking about future makes him anxious. Jack is very loud, sometimes he might be obnoxious because of this. He uses every sound they have and he's that one annoying friend with Discord soundboard.
All together they're like... insane clown posse....
By swapping their masks boys are "taking control" over the body(it`s more like visual factor, but the boys are very tricky). Considering this, I tried to unify their costume through adding parts from different clown types. I hope it complements design of boys' masks :'3
Regarding mechanical parts. Stalker Doey, a.k.a his monster form, seems like some lizard, so we decided to give boys instead of spider-like legs something that resembles a salamander. Also decided to give them hands on springs 'cause it helps with their mobility and agility.. and i think it's cool. Instead of this pins like fingers, we choose to give them claws because boys are giving more like ripping stuff apart than stabbing it.
The design might be adjusted later with wires and other things(i hope I'll do it :'3)
Moving to their interaction with others. We think the boys don't explicitly announce their multiple personalities, but they aren't exactly hiding them either. You'll see.
But firstly we start with people and toys who know about them. Of course it's some high access employees and the executors, including Sawyer(if he remains in his experiment place. If he's not, then it might be other scientists. It's not essential rn). Obviously, Oliver knows. They opened up to him in an attempt to "save" themselves. It would likely bother them if someone so close couldn't distinguish between them. Besides, they aren't very good at hiding it, and Oliver is smart and observant enough to figure it out. In other words, they need someone to recognize their separate identities. Since Oliver is their ally, this is crucial. Without that recognition, they feel as though they are losing themselves and merging into a single, faceless consciousness again.
Passing to the names. In front of others, boys would call themselves "The Prototype". After all, not everyone needs to know something so sacred like this about them. And it could make them look not that reliable because it might seems like they're just insane.. like, wdym you're three people in one body and in clown suit? Crazy thing). Instead of "Ollie" they would be "Jackie" or something like that. As established before, Oliver knows Jack, Kevin, and Matthew by their real names, and they cherish it when he uses them. Also, they also would call Oliver by his name in private conversations. They want to help him avoid losing himself in all this chaos. As you can see, the boys truly value names and the connection they provide to their past and their true meaning.
And I was wondering how what Doey react when he saw The Prototype with two normal legs?
Don't really know the context of the question but smth like this ig<3 (we actually have an AU where he has only two bc everyone is partly humanised so I made this legs design!)
Does.. Doey try to comfort the Prototype... when he... maybe need?
In our opinion the Prototype didn't show much of his struggles. It's already hard to read him with all of this mask stuff, but also he's trying to look like everything's fine. After some time tho the boys would learn his small expresion changes and understand what he's really feeling at least a little (also we think he makes reaction noises too so that will help them).
They would definitely try to comfort him with hugs or something, but he just can't understand their intentions. The Prototype doesn't think that he needs comfort from someone (or at least doesn't assume that anyone would comfort him). He sees his expirience as a painfull one, yes, but he has his own ways to help himself. When Doey pat him on the head he assumes they do it to feel better themselves as if he's a cat or smth.
ah :,3 I am not very good with "shipping" characters, specially romantic stuff... like uhh .. how to draw a realtionship when you personally never were interested in one or any romantic stuff?
Anyway, here are some silly thoughts I drew what could count as Doey x prototype? Welp, that's how I imagine their dynamic ~ I hope you like it somehow and I am really sorry if is maybe not what you had in mind 😣
ps. my hand slipped and sorry for english mistakes
I believe that they make an interesting couple with their dynamics. I love how we all agreed that Prototype would not win in one on one fight with Doey, like what use have your needle hands against dough, son? Lol
Yes! And their lore has so much potential for different ideas and "character studies" through relationship.
About the fight. I agree that the Prototype would not win in a "normal" way. But we still killed Doey in the game, and it looks like something Prototype can phisically do. He also can use their poor selfcontrol, as he technically did in the game. And the Prototype is still alive when he deffinatly would've encountered Doey in a fight at least a couple of times.
They didn't kill each other still because they're trying to not die first lol. The ship thing also add layers to this obv, but mostly for the Prototype I think because even tho Doey mourn the version of him they knew, they're against him and what he's doing. The Prototype still thinks he can make them join him again, they just need to understand how he's right (taking this basically from what we see in the game with him and Poppy as the only person who's close to him canonically).
Jackie asking for a ride is so cute! And I'm laughing, him being so heavy that Proto can't stand up (he's made of 900 pounds of dough after all)
Now I can't stop thinking about Doey using this info for every time Prototype loses his temper to transform into a giant pile of dough and sit on top of Ollie until he calms down. So many crisis would be averted that way 😂
Plsssss yes. Maybe when they were together Doey used this instead of fighting so they won't hurt the Prototype yk. A little jail so he would think about what he did. Bargaining is not working, everybody needs to calm down. Red smoke doesn't help, Doey will just fall asleep on him and it's even worse lmao.
Also, it will sound strange but their bodies add up so good like… It's so fun to draw their interaction with how Doey can change his form to whatever and Prototype has a lot of things going on to change for, do you get what I mean???
How.... did.... the relationship about the Prototype and Doey [Ollie and Kevin, Mattew, Jack] started?
It's an interesting one! We don't know much about the period before the Hour of Joy and after it, so we're going to explain our view and headcanons. You could probably call it an AU at this point.
So, we think that the Prototype and Doey did meet each other before the Hour of Joy. It happened after Doey was transferred to the prison. We have a little headcanon that the boys couldn't tell each other apart, and most of the time they stayed overwhelmed with so many thoughts and memories that they couldn't do much. Basically, their personalities started to mix and merge, like in the original game, which led to them losing themselves. This process was probably horrifying alongside all the experiments and Miss Gracie's program, which led to Doey being so aggressive.
That's when the Prototype appeared. With a little help from one "friend," he discovered some info about Experiment 1322. We think he couldn't learn more at that time, but he would know about Doey being made of three people. The Prototype would escape his cell and sneak through vents to the prison. The main reason for him to meet these three was to make them his allies (because Doey is probably strong as hell). To achieve this goal, he tried to give them an understanding of themselves and help them separate from each other. Through communication, the boys remembered their names (which is very important to them, obviously, because everything is trying to erase their identities here), and this is one of the reasons why they decided to join the Prototype.
(A little adjustment: they tried to learn the Prototype's name as well because their names are so important to them, but with the Prototype, we have the opposite situation. Firstly, he probably no longer identifies himself as Oliver or Ollie. Secondly, it might be very personal for him to share it with anybody else. Thirdly, he's already claimed the title of "Prototype," so that's all that matters.)
With the passage of time, all of them would develop some affection. Probably, Matthew, Kevin, and Jack couldn't tell if only one of them felt something or if it was all of them. As for the Prototype, he would probably think he just liked them as close friends, though he "obviously befriended them for his own benefit". So, it wasn't him who made the first move, but one of the boys. We think it might be Jack because he seems more social, open, and straightforward with his feelings.
But all of this is up to interpretation. We also would like to hear other ideas about their relationship!
I've been thinking about the 'Prototype is trying to make everyone immortal' plotline and I've come with some conclusions.
the good news: Doey could be the most likely to live the longest out of the mortal toys, since I think he doesn't have fleshy organs like the others that could age faster than his mass of dough body, so Prototype will have time to spare in finding the formula to immortality
the bad new: his death would be the most slow, gruesome and painful since dough is susceptible to drying out and crumbling over time
The Prototype will have to watch how Doey loses chunks of himself, how his surface body dries into a hard state and then cracks, chips and falls, losing more and more mass until it reaches his core. And then... will he turn into a brittle statue or crumble into a pile of dried dough?
How do you think Prototype will react to that? How will Kevin Matthew and Jack will handle that?
It's a tough question, and we can't say for sure whether Doey could have lived longer or "died slower." Unfortunately, we don't have a study on "whether playdough mixed with human parts and poppy gel dries out over 12 years if it’s constantly moving," and since we don't fully know how Doey's body works, we can only speculate.
As for their perception of death, we believe the boys made up their minds when they decided to stay at the factory. In our opinion, they understand that they will eventually die and they can't change it, so they focus on helping others while they can. Matthew will probably never be fully satisfied with his deeds and might remain disappointed in himself. Jack would likely grieve and miss his parents and friends. Kevin is a tough one because we haven't seen his reaction during their final moments; maybe he’d regret his actions, but at the same time, he might feel at peace knowing how much he helped the other toys.
However, we have some thoughts, and we disagree with you on this point. First of all, it would take a long time for 900 pounds of dough to dry out. Also, as mentioned before, he isn't stationary; he is always moving and changing shape, which would make the drying process even slower.
Secondly, throughout the game, we see his doughy parts everywhere, yet he remains massive. This suggests he might be regenerating himself using the poppy gel that was definitely used in his creation. It’s not 100% confirmed, but we think it’s the most likely explanation.
Thirdly, he could potentially freeze due to the water content in the dough. So, even if parts of him dry out occasionally (and he does look a bit crusty), I don't think it affects him that much.
Overall, to end this on a positive note, the boys might find some good and beautiful moments in their lives. They have each other to cheer one another up, and maybe they’ll be okay. Btw Doey's still alive fr we're not totally delusional
(Also, I found out that you can revive dry playdough with water, so now I’m imagining the Prototype watering their outer layer from time to time...)
(we are in the process of answering other asks too dw)
