Homura is consistently portrayed as the “devil” and “evil”, but her big “sin” was wanting the girl she loved to be happy. It feels like commentary on how society views and treats queer kids.

Calling her "evil" or "devilish" isn't society punishing a queer kid; it's a response to the fact that she literally tore a piece out of the universe's law, trapped a universal concept, and rewrote reality against her god-goddess girlfriend's explicit choice to enforce her own view of happiness onto said god-goddess girlfriend thing.

I love Homura but she did nearly everything wrong.

In homuras eyes, she did nothing wrong, all she wants is for madoka to be happy and safe, so in the flower scene where madoka says it would hurt her too much to leave her friends, she took that as madoka not being happy as a god and along with that, madokami was literally going to get captured CAUSE of her

Her taking away madokamis power and disrespecting her wish wasn't out of malice, it never was and never could be and maybe that's why I don't see her as evil in the slightest, I know she was wrong to do so but she never wanted to hurt madoka.
