Closing show for New Signs Tonight @theinternationalgallery

Sharokh Mirzai, Alex Thebez, Elizabeth Renstrom, Connie Jang, Emilia Wojdylak, and Sarah Stevens make art inspired by their environmental stimulations and a range of subjects that truly matter in this age of uber consumption and digital reliance. Art has become a commodity by which we digest quickly and replicate even faster, yet these photographers are digging deeper, weaving stories that beckon us to be more mindful of how we interact with others, or reminding us of the impermanence of our physical bodies but the imprinted memories that live on. On the flip side, we’re presented with work that comments on the excessiveness of culture we either ignore or consume.

DIY Brooklyn interviews Bassick Lee

They were supposed to play Don Pedro tonight but a band member got his jaw broken and robbed last week. Ouch. Very sorry to hear that. Add that to the long list of fucked up things that happened in 2016 :/ 

Explain Band name. 

 Bassick Lee.  No explanation. None is needed. It's obviously a play on the word 'basically'. Most people probably think it's a stupid name. But they usually end up liking our music.

Astoria, and Newburgh, NJ
