Wooden horse demonstration at the museum.

If you ask Cornelia why she takes part in the wooden horse demonstration every week, she will answer that she simply loves history and wants to attract more people to it.

But this is a lie.

She uses these demonstrations as a way to punish herself for her dirty thoughts and actions. Even though Cornelia and Sydney have gone through the Rite of Promise and the temple allows them to have sex, Cornelia herself still thinks it is wrong. She is an angel after all, she should not be interested in such base things, but nevertheless, Cornelia craves intimacy with Sydney and she cannot resist her vulgar impulses. And for this, she believes, she should be punished (the angelic transformation has messed her mind quite strongly).

But this is also a lie. A lie to herself.

Cornelia enjoys this pain. Being in such a vulnerable state in front of a crowd, barely dressed and tied up, in pain and humiliation - it turns her on so much. Plus, the person who deprives her of freedom and causes pain is someone she trusts - Winter, so Cornelia can relax and not worry that something will go wrong, because with the teacher she is safe and can fully surrender to the pleasure of public torture. Shame also does not bother her, because it is not her almost naked, suffering body that the eyes of the lust-filled audience are looking at, not her moans and screams they hear, because in front of them now is not Cornelia, but a nameless girl who stole bread for her sibling. This role of an actress helps her to relax, and convinces her that none of the viewers will take her for some kind of pervert, instead they will decide that she is simply playing her role well.

When the demonstration is over, Cornelia goes back to the orphanage, where she spends the next few hours locked in her room, enjoying the remaining pain and emotions (she needs privacy, if you know what I mean, that's why she doesn't go to the temple, even though she lives there). And then comes the terrible feeling of guilt and Cornelia runs to the temple, begging Virgo for forgiveness and promising herself never to take part in this vile show again.

And this is repeated every week.
