Producers Spotlight: Wally West aka JDiablo
Q: What's your name and where are you from?
Wally West aka JDiablo. I'm from BRIDGEPORT, Connecticut. I was born in Detroit, Michigan and I also used to live in Tampa, FL for 6 yrs and have since moved back to CT.
Q: What makes your brand of production unique?
"STAY TRUE & BE ORIGINAL" is my motto/lifestyle. I'm an innovator. I don't follow trends, copy styles, etc. I'm the opposite when it comes to music, fashion, and art. I like to be original.
Q: What's difficult about being a producer coming out of Connecticut?
Connecticut is not well known in the hip hop culture and there's no connection/plug out here in order to shine in the game. There's a lot of talent here but the music scene lacks unity, a support system and role models. We don't have a blueprint to follow so it's hard for artists and producers to get the recognition they deserve.
Shoutout to Max B (FREE MAX B) & French Montana/Coke Boy movement though. They genuinely respect and love the state. They've  shown that through their music.
Q: Â Do you think Connecticut can produce more nationally recognized artists?
Of course, we have a lot of talented artists in CT. We have to stop looking for hand outs, really invest in the craft, put the egos/pride/jealousy/envy/hate/etc... to  the side and really REPRESENT Connecticut like Chris Webby did.
It's not difficult to become successful now with social media and other platforms that help connect artists and fans.
Q: Â Who are your top 5 MC's from CT?
I'll tell you 3 who have inspired and motivated me.
Shortii P (RIP), CityyTowers (Undefeated Rap Battle King) & Chris Webby (Current Leader of CT)
Q: What projects are you currently working on?
I'm working on a few productions for my artist BenNY's next album titled "Earned Not Given". We just released a new single called "I Said It". It's a very smooth song.Go download it at https://soundcloud.com/reekindie/benny-i-said-it-prod-by-jdiablo
I'm also working on a compilation album coming soon.  My  16th (last)  beat tape "SUPREME" is out and you can listen to that on my website. [JDiablo.com]Â
Q: What are some of your long term goals?
I'd like to get a label deal with my own imprint, become a successful A&R and make history with people I believe in. I know what I'm doing and know what I want. I'm a visionary.
Q: Anything else you would like to say to the people?
Live your life to the fullest, ALWAYS love what you do and do what you love. Â Never give up on your dreams. Don't chase glitz and glamour. Say waddup when you see me in public! Last but not least STAY TRUE & BE ORIGINAL! #Classico
