a glance.
Around my dreamy bedroom.
those summertime days.
Lush landscapes of Hotel San Jose when I stayed here for the first time in June.
The trailer for the long awaited Moonrise Kingdom by Wes Anderson has come out and has got me all excited for its summer release. The film looks true to Wes Anderson form. And...Francoise Hardy being featured in the trailer makes it that much better.

Anthropologie circa 2008
Orla Kiely presents another moving film for her A/W 2011 line. A collaboration between Orla and Leith Clark is nothing less than captivating.
le spy cam.
Move over dslr--this tiny baby digicam is slowly becoming my token 'take everywhere you go camera.' It's so small that it makes my already little girl hands look huge!

sometimes it's better to let things go.
A couple weeks ago, I sold this very Luella dress. Sad? Very.
I purchased it knowing it was a couple sizes too large for me. With every intention to alter/wear it, I found that:
(1) It proved to be incredibly difficult and expensive to fix (it has a sewn-in bustier) (2) I couldn't find the proper seamstress to handle such a complicated dress (3) It had been sitting in the closet collecting dust, while I was in some need of funds
To me, this dress was one of those prized items that you think you could never let go. (Considering the discontinuation of the designer, rarity, and the original $1200 USD price tag) However, I purchased the dress at a huge bargain and actually ended up making a profit.
In the end, I know that it was the novelty and the idea of Luella that made me hold on to the dress that I'd probably never alter and wear. A big leap for me!
a glimpse of the dress that was.
My lovely 2.55 lambskin.
a personal favorite from the TBA Fall 2011 sneak peak.

white and black. black and white.
Always finding myself gravitating toward these color combos. The last shirt (by family affairs) is for sale. Interested? Contact me.
Update: my sister is the lucky new owner of the blouse, but thanks for the inquiries y'all.
What nail polish do you use and what would you recommend?
Sorry for such the late response! My nails are coated with 'Fishnet Stockings' by Essie because I hear that's what Dita von Teese uses. (I like using only one coat for this particular shade)
I think red is flattering on all skin tones and can be chic and sweet at the same time :) I try to do other shades, but always go back to red. I also like 'Vodka & Caviar' by OPI. Would love to try Deborah Lippman if I could afford it! And the always classic Chanel.
Happy St. Valentine's y'all.
head over heels.
After years of lusting over all the Chloé heels that debuted on the runway in 2006/2007, scouring the web everyday has paid off. I recently acquired my third pair, which is the closest thing to the triple strap heels Alix made so famous. Excited to wear these out with a pretty dress.
feelin' nostalgic.
With it being Christmastime, I've been missing the thought of New York. I've only been twice and have fallen in love each time.
Why I
New York:
Our second time around in NY, we stayed at the Ace Hotel which is the sweetest little lodge. When we got to our room, there was a man who was refilling the fridge and was really apologetic. We didn't mind the wait, but the man called someone and sent them to escort us to another bigger, better room! Ace had quaint amenities that were really cool to hang outside of the hotel including a restaurant/bar called the Breslin and a coffee joint called Stumptown. There is even an Opening Ceremony store inside the hotel.
Shopping in Soho. Shopping everywhere. Seeing boutiques and products that I would never see back at home.
Cupcake shops in almost every corner.
Hopping on trains with destinations to anywhere your heart desires.
Waiting in line for Shake Shack. Although waiting isn't fun, the first time I had Shake Shack it was pouring rain (like crazy rain, and it is an outdoor venue without a roof), and no one in the 100 foot line even budged. We were stupid and decided to brave the rain too. Once we got our order, we failed to hail a cab, so we ran into a subway and enjoyed our delicious burgers with our clothes/hair/shoes/face/fingers/toes soaking wet.
Mile-high old buildings.
The unique neighborhoods, each with their own distinct characters such as Lower East Side, Upper East Side, Chinatown, and West Village.
Celeb sightings. The first time in NY, we saw none other than Jerry Seinfield in the middle of a photo shoot at Central Park. We waved hi to him. The second time, we had a sighting of this soap opera actor from One Life to Live, Jeremy Piven exiting our hotel, Alexander Wang walking on Greenwich, and alas, the most beautiful sight of all, Hayden Christensen! (a few of you might know I used to have the biggest crush on him). Hayden was walking in an empty street dressed in a skinny suit.
Grabbing tortilla soup at 1am.
Brooklyn vintage. Dan was able to find jeans and a shirt from A.P.C. for around $20 (okay, that isn't really vintage but you know where I'm going).
The people. Everyone in NY is fast paced, ready to move on to the next thing.
Having a deli sandwich while sitting on a bench outside and people-watching.
Picnicing in Central Park.
