It was kept mostly secret of what occurred the night that the Mourning Star fell down onto Cybertron, the rest of the planet's inhabitants only aware of a crater that had formed from the crash and that the quake caused a temporary panic within Iacon. But what was found within that crater was only known by the higher ups, and put under lock and key within the Metroplex. What wasn't known to the public, however, was that it wasn't a meteor that hit Cybertron. It was a large metal egg, and it had hatched shortly after being taken to the Science Division.
A sparkling... At least, that's what it appeared to be, but the database was at a loss. It was a hybrid of Cybertronian and an unknown Organic alien, an analysis that bots would find repulsive and possibly even dangerous. However, the Council had compromised not to destroy it; rather, the scientists were given the sparkling as a specimen for further study. And thus, it could be watched in the observatory that peered into the sparkling's enclosure, referring to the bittie hybrid as Mourningstar.
At the moment, it was enjoying its first daily fueling. It skittered on all fours, abnormally long digits and claws scraping across the floor until it shoved it's face into the bowl. The thing was ravenous from the moment of hatching, having even tried to eat its own metal eggshell until the Autobots had stopped it from doing so.
The night that the Mourning Star fell to Cybertron's surface was one that Ultra Magnus would not soon forget. It wasn't often that such phenomenon occur, and it was a good thing that it had happened when it did. Though there had been a panic among the citizens of Iacon, it was quelled easily enough by his reassurances and those of several of the lead scientists at his disposal for the securing and extraction of what they had thought to be a meteor. Upon discovering it had, in fact, been an egg instead of a meteor, Ultra Magnus knew this would be something worth keeping locked tightly away until they were sure of just what it was and how much of a threat it posed to the rest of the planet.
When the egg had hatched to reveal a sparkling that was part organic and part Cybertronian, he knew that it would be first instinct to destroy it.. However, something compelled him to broker a compromise among the Council: allow the scientists to study this... sparkling. See of what use it could provide as well as other experiments that the scientists chose to do.
One servo held onto his hammer while the other rested behind him as he looked down into the sparkling's enclosure, watching as it was given its first fuel of the day. He could admit that he was not fond of the length of the little thing's digits and claws, and the way it moved around, however he could not show such distain or disgust in front of the scientists. As well, he could admit that there was a certain curiosity in what the scientists had discovered about it thus far..
Everyone had to be on their best behavior with Ultra Magnus visiting the facility, all of them a bit on edge yet quite excited to observe a strange and otherworldly specimen. Ultra Magnus hadn’t been the first chairman to pay it a visit, though. There were mentions of Alpha Trion having stopped by, and had even received a positive reaction from the sparkling when he approached the floor-level glass of the enclosure. The elder mech was the first one that the hybrid saw once it was released from its egg, with Ultra Magnus being the second.
After Mourningstar had pulled its helm out of the now empty bowl, Energon was smeared all over its faceplate and it appeared to fuel efficiently with the typical source of energy Cybertronians sustained on.
“Subject’s frame responds positively to Energon, in spite of its half Organic makeup…” One scientists muttered while taking notes on their data pad. “No signs of explosions, corruption, or additional mutations that what it already came with.”
Sluuurp! A sudden noise within the enclosure caught the attention of the bots observing, all of them going completely silent as they all witnessed Mourningstar open her intake, unleashing a long, tentacle-like glossa that easily licked away the smears of Energon like a squeegee. Even going so far to extend at an absurd length just to turn into a proboscis at the tip, sucking up the last drops of Energon from the bowl until it was clean. During the display, it was evident that not only was the bitlet packing some dangerous claws, but apparently had a maw full of razor sharp dentae to match.
“U-uh… Sir…” The scientist closest to Ultra Magnus addressed nervously. “If we may, we’d like to conduct an internal examination of the sparkling. The medics returned with results from their scanners, and it appears that there is something living inside of this one…” They explained, pulling out a data pad for the Magnus to view for himself.
The results; a horrifying yet intricate network of tendrils that rooted within every part of the sparkling. Each one intertwined and inseparable from the typical internals seen in Cybertronian anatomy, and it all stemmed from an amorphous blob that completely engulfed the sparkling’s spark chamber.
"Sometimes, I would hear the more superstitious of the council theorize it... Others thought it might have been the Quintessons..." Mourningstar shook her helm slowly, chuckling as well.
If Haybail thought it was too strange to be true, then maybe her arrival to Cybertron was just a coincidence. Unplanned, and just a freak accident! Maybe...
Moving on from that, Mourningstar grinned, seeing Haybail smile just a bit was warming to her spark.
"I think that's the wonder of things that are simple, yet so special...~ I'm not quite sure if I recognize any of them. Do you see any constellations out right now?" She inquired, genuinely curious and eager to hear what Haybail knew.
It had been a long time since Haybail smiled, at least genuinely. All he could usually do was frown and wallow in the remembrance of what he did to so many Cybertronians. Sitting here, free as a bird, looking up at the sky was a mix of emotions. He was happy to be here, away from the war, but then there was the guilt for it.
'Hmm,' he groaned and leaned back, resting on his arms.
'That one,' he pointed. 'That's Hadean. One of the biggest and well-known systems. They say you can see it from anywhere on Cybertron.'
Seeing Haybail put on even the lightest grin was warming to the hybrid's spark, she hadn't even seen him smile on the day she had first found him. But to see it now, to see him looking a bit more relaxed, it might have been the nicest thing for her to see besides the stars that night.
Mourningstar's gaze followed the direction where Haybail pointed, cooing in fascination once she could truly see the constellation the way it was supposed to be viewed.
"I've never been able to see the stars like this before... Civilian bots, they got to see this every lunar cycle?" She inquired, her sight never leaving the Hadean. "I hope there will be a point where they can have moments like these again."
"It certainly makes for convenient opportunities."
Comes the reply, tone full of dry humor. Shockwave simply watching the femme's odd movements with the same air.
Yes. She was very....out of the standard for Cybertronians...
The observatory was....an observatory. Beyond the old entry way and past long abandoned office spaces, there was the actual lab full of instruments and related areas. The equipment there a mixture of Cybertron based tech and what useful human things Shockwave could scavenge.
While the antlered mech allowed for Mourningstar to have free reign to explore all she liked in other areas of the place, the lab itself strong restrictions. While she could roam, her servos needed to be kept to herself unless she was handling the simplest - and sturdiest - of equipment.
"As you gain experience and knowledge, these rules will be eased. But for our shared safety, and that of the surrounding area, I prefer caution above all else. Hnnn?"
So she definitely wasn't to mess around the little area meant for chemicals that Shockwave had set up either...
Lucky for Shockwave, Silvergleam had instilled a relatively good sense of manners in Mourningstar when it came to keeping her servos to herself. For the most part, anyways. Satisfied with just being able to look at things, and possibly trying to even smell anything that had a scent. And what few things she was granted permission to touch, she did so with utter amazement, cooing and aw'ing as if she was getting to examine a relic.
Eventually, she felt content with her exploration and once familiarized with the new space, Mourningstar stood by Shockwave, a grin still plastered on her doll-like visage.
“Is there anything you need me to do right now…?” She prompted, tendril tips swishing as her optics focused on him.
Looking like a cyberpuppy with its owner, eager to do something to please her new “boss”.
I genuinely hate doing this, and it really feels like its all I've ever been doing recently, but I really don't know what else to do at the moment and I'm honestly terrified. I was not prepared for this situation in the slightest.
I'm in desperate need of help. A whole lot is due to be paid, but my primary concern is rent, being at $1,095. Everything else I can easily pay for at a later date without too much concern.
The explanation is long, so I'll type it out under the Read More, but I could use all the help I can get to raise this in such short notice.
Paypal, Chime, Venmo, Cashapp.. Anything is appreciated.
I live with my mother as basically her in-home care taker, and in recent months, it's been insanely difficult for me to hold down a proper job because of her declining mental and physical well-being. If I leave for even an hour, she'll forget where I went and start panicking that she was abandoned or something similar to that effect. I have no one else to help me take care of her, and no family I can trust to help me in just about any respect.
For years, a vast majority of money that we've been living off of and paying for a majority of our bills (rent, electric, etc) has been paid with her disability payments she gets every month. However, this month, she hasn't received that payment.
I'm not entirely sure why that is, and I've currently sent an email to the people that pay it out as I have no other direct line of communication with the woman that handle's my mother's case since I don't know her extension number within her company, just her name.
And while I wait for her to email me back, hopefully in a timely manner, I'm stuck in limbo trying to figure out what to do to not get us evicted from our apartment... All while trying to keep the situation under wraps so that my mother doesn't find out just how bad things have gotten and she doesn't start panicking worse will just put myself into an even worse state..
Ya boi is not doing so great. After realizing things are getting worse with my grandmother, I might have made a mistake in taking a leave of absence to take care of her.
I'm never this guy but if anyone would like to help me out in any way I'm so serious even Penny's help I would be oh so grateful and I will give you all a hella good story when I have the time. Transformers themed and highest donation can even pick the characters and what's going on. Gonna leave my paypal down below. And hey if you can't donate it's ok. I still love each and every one of you with my whole chest.
So things are not going well at all. most insurances will not take my grandmother to become her home health aid and stay at home jobs seem more scarce then ever before my last ditch effort is to try for food stamps but if that dosen't work out I'm in a bit of a pickle. I'm going to once again beg my lovelies for help. any tiny amount will help so much. I can make even 5 bucks stretch. I will stay posting more often as well. thinking of doing mlp commissions if all else fails.
for context: granny Metro fractured her arm in a way its barely usable RN so I have to do everything for her. cooking, cleaning, giving her showers and helping her get around. I cant go back to work when she still needs me like this but this will make three weeks with no check. I'm just worried and anxious about my job.
Speeeeeed, running in circles until rocks and sticks went flying and then a speed run to Mourningstar. An abrupt stop and a long stare... And Blep, A forked glossa stuck out and attacked her cheek plating for a long wet lick. Then off he goes, into the woods. //Feral Darkfang.
Mourningstar had been too amused with watching Darkfang, that she didn't even realize he ran over to her until she stared back at him. Optics dilated, mirroring his expression as they seemed to just sit there in silence for a long while.
Mlem! The hybrid let her cheekplate be licked, optics derping out as her processor tried to register what just happened as Darkfang ran off into the woods.

The DOI!AU is more of a fanfic thing that I’m working on that involves the OCs of this blog as well as my main TF OC. Feel free to look at @dollofiacon-artandarchive for more on that.
Warning: There's going to be a lot of shit that comes out of left field that very likely won't make sense if it was applied to Transformers lore, aside from the existence of multiversal travel, deities, and other things. If it's not your cup of tea, totally understandable!
Kyung: Mourningstar, couldn’t you just click on the verify human button yourself? I mean, it’s not like the law can really do anything to you if you do that. Plus, you’re about as sapient as a human being.
Mourningstar: Oh, but… I don’t think it feels right to lie about the species I am. I’m neither human nor fully robot.
“I can see many things through these eyes, it can be a bit disorienting at times, but it’s quite handy,” Mourningstar confirmed. “I don’t seem to run out of them either, watch…”
Then, the hybrid proceeded to pluck her very optic out of its socket as if it were nothing. It came out with a wet squelch, the cables keeping it installed easily giving way from even the light tug. For a brief moment, there was only a black socket left, until another beaming red optic took its place. As for the severed optic in her delicate hold, it blinked at Repose, its black ocular cable flailing like a creature’s tail.
“It has more too,” She pointed out, letting the skull crest split open to reveal the tentacled, black mass that lay within.
Not only did the entity have its own set of eyes, it had several more that soon opened up and glanced around once the light shone upon it.
An infinite amount of optics? Ahh, what a dream feature to have. But... that'd take away the work of collecting new ones, one by one, until he had a beautiful collection of them to admire and use as his own. Still, there's clear admiration within his two toned optics at watching the severed optic blink at him with new ones grown in it's place upon Mourningstar.
"With so many optics, you must barely have any blindspots." Repose commented with pale spoilers fluttering as he observed the tentacled mass and it's beautifully eerie set of eyes. Most may see it as monstrous, unsettling, but the sight brought awe within his spark. She'd make such a beautiful friend for Goopy.
His digits curled, and twitched before he extended out his palms. "This may come as an odd request, but may I have one of your optics? I do not mind if it continues to perceive me even when disconnected from your frame." He never said no to more optics for his collection.
Mourningstar was clearly having quite a wonderful time chatting and being able to exhibit for Repose's amusement, it felt nice to be in the presence of a bot that didn't find her revolting or a monster just for features her frame possessed that were beyond her control.
It then came as a surprise to her when the mech asked if he could have one of her optics, but rather than decline, the femme chirruped and nodded. Although, the eyes with red scleras and black pupils seemed to blink and twitch warily.
"I've never given someone an optic before, but I don't see why not...!~ Let's see what happens," She grinned, excited to see if she'd be able to provide Repose with a couple "tokens".
Taking the one optic she had plucked from her socket, her articulated digits gingerly set it down into his palm. It looked up at him from where it sat, the ocular cord swishing and wagging until it began to split into tendril-like appendages that hardened into arachnid-like legs. Rather than skitter back up Mourningstar's arm, it began to climb up Repose's forearm in order to perch itself on his shoulder for a nuzzle.
"Awwww...!~ Looks like that's a 'yes'! Let's see if one of these will do the same," Mourningstar cooed, carefully plucking one of the eyeballs from the Fragment in her spark chamber in order to do the same.
Unlike the optic, the eyeball leered up at Repose, squinting with suspicion. However, it remained in his palm all the same.
"Yaaay...!~ You get two of them," The hybrid cheered softly.
You are the tear that soothes. Your emotion is not just for release, but for connection, a bridge between hurting and healing. You reach for presence over perfection, and when you cry, it’s a gentle unraveling. You are the hug that lasts too long, the walk with no destination, the kind word that saves someone’s day.

Non-sexual Acts of Dominance
Mourningstar had been resting after quite the romp with Darkfang, long limbs folded in so she could comfortably loaf. Much to her pleasant surprise, she was suddenly being fed delicious morsels of scrap metal, shiny rocks, and crystals. Chirruping in appreciation, the femme purred in pure contentment. And in turn, Mourningstar gave Darkfang affectionate helm bumps, red optics gazing at him in adoration as they dilated within their sockets.
((If I’m abnormally quiet on here, it’s because I’m kinda wrestling with my creative itch to draw, write, and flesh out another TF blog I got. The want to keep working on the DOI!AU story has been weirdly stronger with the development of @morethanmeets-thegrave , and it’s actually been helping me keep my muse for Mournie going. Problem is, now I’m itchin’ to draw and work on fics/Drabbles more than replies 😭))
((I’ll still be working on replies of course, but I figured I should probably say something just in case.))
just a fair warning; i don’t usually give up on ships.
sure, i may fail to mention it every now and then, or maybe we don’t talk/plot. that just means that i’m shy and awkward and don’t want to bother you, OR, i have the memory of a goat and sometimes may forget to tell you certain headcanons/plot points, whatever.
just because u don’t see them make much appearances in my tags or my blog, doesn’t mean i’ve forgotten them.

[Sleep themed starter/prompt meme] “You always look so peaceful when you’re asleep.” [to Rung]
Sleep Themed Starter Sentences
" Huh?" Rung slowly reached up to remove his glasses and to rub at his optics. It seems he'd drifted to sleep again, he must have been more tired than he first thought.
" I'm sorry Mourningstar I didn't mean to fall asleep....ah what were you saying?"
A low, amused and endeared chuckle rumbled within Mourningstar's chassis as Rung groggily came back online. She couldn't help but even lean her helm down to plant a kiss on his forehelm.
"I don't remember, but that's okay. It seems like you need more time to recharge than anything," The hybrid cooed, nonchalant about Rung having dozed off during their conversation. "Would you like to go back to recharge? A nap does sound quite tempting during this type of cycle..."
