For hundreds of years the hunt of rhinos and elephants have grown because of their valuable tusks. Their tusks are made of ivory, which is valuable and expensive. It is used to make beautiful art sculptures and is then sold for a high profit. Poachers are very violent when they kill these animals, and they are running out of time. For years organizations have been working hard to stop them, and yes anything helps. But if we want to save them before their time is out, we need to make a change as soon as we possibly can. The selling of Ivory is mainly in Asia, and the money from buying the Ivory goes to fund terrorism; guns, bullets, etc. Yao Ming, a very public figure in China has teamed up with WILDAid to help stop the illegal trade. They believe that since so many people look up to him in Asia, maybe they will be impacted by what he believes needs to be stopped. The videos that these organizations create are so overpowering and touching, they show graphic images of how they remove the tusks from elephants and the horns of rhinos. Also showing the baby animals crying while scared and alone without their parents, they are not needed by the poachers because their tusks or horns are usually not grown when that young, they are left to fend for themselves, alone. It's so sad and if watching those videos doesn't make you feel like you want to do something to help, that's just truly sad for you. It's time to make a change for the animals who can't have a voice. We have a voice, we can make a difference and a change. I don't want the statistic that the elephants will be gone in 11 years to be true anymore. Let us make a change for the better.
