Under a tree in the courtyard with his spellbooks spewed about around him, Eliot was concentrating on Poppers for a particular healing spell. He couldn’t get the finger movement right, and it was getting more frustrated by the minute. “Stupid. This is stupid,” he mumbled under his breath, attempting the spell again. Still no success. “You’re useless!” he exclaimed, blasting the textbook into the air–and luckily, it didn’t hit anyone, but it certainly came close as it landed at someone’s feet. “Uh, sorry!” Eliot called out, getting up from the grass to go over to pick up his book, looking rather sheepish. “I didn’t mean to throw it that far. I apologize,” he said to the woman.

She startled to a stop and watched the book fall almost perfectly at her feet. “It’s alright! It didn’t hit me or anything. Though I’m sad to say the dandelion wasn’t as lucky.” Dom was quick to answer once she snapped out of it. Bending down she picked the book off the ground and brushed her hand over it. Brown eyes narrowing as she studied it, recognizing it as a spellbook yet not able to glean what kind. Consider her curiosity piqued. Dominique shortly realized she was just standing there with his book in her hands not saying a word. She cleared her throat to mask her embarrassment before holding it out for him to take. “What kind of spells are you practicing out here? If you don’t mind me being a teensy bit nosy.”

Background 

Dominique White is the eldest child of the royal White family. As well as the eldest daughter of Sorina White, the current queen. To Dom her mother was, is someone she looks up to and currently there’s no one she loves more than her mother. Though her father and her siblings do come a close second. She is very protective of her family.

Being part of a royal family is enough of a weight on her shoulders, but being tied to the Queen adds even more pressure. Mostly self inflicted. Dom knows that making a mistake or seeming out of touch could easily be a huge black mark on her family and on her mother. From a young age Dominique did her best to be perfect, to set the best example. She is the heir, the princess and there was no room for fun or games for her.

She was often at odds with her siblings. Sometimes envious that they felt more free and true to themselves while also critical of them, the latter causing more harm than good. Dom loves her siblings dearly and wouldn’t bat an eye if she had to hurt someone to keep them safe yet she is not as close to them as she might try to make it seem. Something she tries to rectify if she could keep the foot from her mouth.

Though Dominique received a letter inviting her to Acadia Academy when she was in her early twenties she did not actually attend until five years ago. She put off attending to help her mother. She would have continued to do so had her mother not practically forced her to attend so she could actually enjoy life and learn new things.

She didn’t specialize in any particular element and Dom kept telling herself she was a jack of all trades. If only to keep herself from falling into a steep depression thinking she was broken or imperfect. However a year or so ago her guardian was badly hurt protecting her from Strigoi and in a blink of an eye their deep wounds had been healed. As if it never happened. Dom’s specialty is spirit.

Dom is interested in the healing aspect of her element over the other abilities. Finding that helping people gives her a sense of purpose, that it is something she should be doing. 

Due to the side effects of spirit Dom’s depression and anxiety has gotten worse. Dom has thoughts and urges to self harm, having done so a couple of times on bad mental health days. Her mother was quick to intervene, suggesting that Dom begin seeing a therapist and possibly taking medication. She refused to do the latter unless it was deemed absolutely necessary. Since going to therapy her depression and anxiety have been easier to manage day by day.

I have my insecurities, and some days you don’t want to be photographed. You notice all of your flaws even if others don’t notice them. Photo shoots also feel very vain because it’s all about you and your looks and your face. I feel I work better on camera.
