What about what it had been like for her? Sure he had his own things to work through but after everything, he should have told her. She could have at least offered some kind of emotional support. To cut her out completely like he did hurt. A lot. Yet she still loved him despite all of that and probably always would - honestly that’s part of the reason she was acting how she was acting now. “Right. Walk away. You’re good at that, right Dommy?” The nickname slipped from her lips before she had a chance to stop it, sighing. Pushing the canister towards him, she smacked the receipt on top of it. “Well, thank you for stopping by, we hope that you enjoy your tea and that you decide to come back.”
He suddenly wanted so desperately to leave then. Stay quiet, keep his head down, and bury the hurt that her words caused. He hadn’t felt like this in a really long time, and it took a moment for the thought to make itself known that he shouldn’t do that to himself anymore. He shouldn’t let himself fall back into his old ways. He had to speak up and defend himself. Dom’s voice stayed low, keeping the conversation between the two of them. “Yeah, I was good at that. I was good at a lot of things I shouldn’t have been good at. But the last time I walked away from the people I cared about was the best thing I could have done for myself. If I hadn’t walked away from everything and everyone I loved, I would have died because of problems no one knew about. I wasn’t so far gone that I didn’t care anymore. I didn’t want to die. I wanted to have a future, no matter what that meant for the relationships I had with people at the moment. I know I shouldn’t have pushed you or anyone else away, and nothing you can say is going to make me feel worse than I make myself feel for that decision, but I kept my problems from everyone until it was nearly too late for me to come back from. I had to get help.” By this point, Dom’s breathing had become heavy, like he’d just run a marathon and he stopped suddenly, gaining more composure. “Please don’t call me Dommy. I’m not that kid anymore.” He didn’t even bother to say goodbye. He’d implied it well enough already. His high hopes dashed on the rocks about how this meeting would go, he walked out. This time though, he felt okay. Okay was a start.

Rory could tell him off right then and there, she was sure that Verity wouldn’t have a problem with it but she was in control of her emotions. For the most part. She had bit her tongue so hard at the apology he had given that she thought she tasted blood, she could be wrong but she wouldn’t be surprised. Dominic always did have that effect on her. Taking the canister, Rory rang him up, giving him the total. “It’s not, but will there ever be a good place for bringing up what a complete dolt you were and how despite rumors of you being back, you never once thought to come and say hey, I’m alive!” Pausing, she just let out a heavy sigh, placing her hands on the counter top. “Do you want a cup brewed for you or will you be taking it home. As I’m sure you read on the sign we can brew a cup or two for you while you relax, can I interest you in one of our blueberry scones to accompany your tea?”
How could he even begin to explain to her how the last fifteen years had been for him? How could he tell her that he didn’t trust himself enough to be around anyone when he was fighting his own demons. He’d been through hell, and the explanations he’d thought up over the years sounded ridiculous even to him. What little confidence he’d mustered up to finally see Rory slipped away with every word she spoke. I wanted to see you every day I was gone. I wanted you with me so desperately, but I didn’t want you to start seeing me the way I saw myself. Those were things he could never say to her. Maybe if he’d shown back up in her life sooner, he could have said those things. He could have tried to explain, but fifteen years were fifteen years too late. Shaking his head at her questions, he put the amount for the canister down on the counter and softly replied, “No... thank you. I think it’s best if I just go.”
roryxhayashi:
“As long as you pay the money for the ticket I don’t see why it wouldn’t be, not everyone has someone to go with,” Rory said in response, biting her tongue a moment before clearing her throat. This was just mildly awkward to say the least. Her in her work uniform and seeing someone that she for all she knew, was dead. She’d heard rumors that he was back of course, but she’d never seen him in fifteen years.
Him standing in front of her acting as casual as he was made her both angry as hell and also relieved. At least he was okay. He looked okay but the way things ended years ago wasn’t the way she wanted to remember him so she chose to remember the good times. Or tried to at least. “Hi? That’s all you can say? Hi?”
“I’m trying not to go into a massive rant about everything I wish I had done differently fifteen years ago. Saying hello to you seemed like a normal thing to start off with,” he replied like it was a question. “I’m sorry also seems like a good thing to say too, because I am so truly sorry for leaving things the way I did.” Dom then glanced around the shop before looking back at Rory, his nose starting to get that tingling sensation whenever he was about to cry. His posture visibly stiffened as he forced the feeling away. “But clearly this isn’t the place for me to bring it up. I don’t want to get you in trouble.” Trailing off, he took a quick glance around the shop again and picked up the first tea his eyes landed on. “I’ll just take this blend and get out of your hair,” he slid the canister closer to her before getting his wallet out.
roryxhayashi:
“I have to go to this ball thing, I promised Verity that I would run the tea serving station,” Rory started before looking over. “I figure I’ll at least have fun watching some of the people make fools of themselves while dancing because you know that’s bound to happen. Are you going to this thing?”
“As long as going stag is acceptable,” Dom replied in a manner similar to Rory’s almost bored intonation, his face remaining as neutral as he could keep it, even though his eyes held the brightness of the joy he felt whenever he was in her presence. However, the thought was fresh in his mind as he spoke to her that he hadn’t let her see him in fifteen years. Up until this moment, he hadn’t worked up the courage to show his face to her, too ashamed of how he had acted all those years ago before he left everything and everyone he knew to get help.
Something in him had changed recently, something he still couldn’t quite place, and he’d found that he desperately wanted to see Rory again, face to face. That was why he was standing opposite her place behind the counter at Infinitea, hoping that fifteen years had been enough time for her to not completely hate him. Dom spoke again, this time sounding much more quiet, uncertainty and a sudden swell of affection making his voice crack slightly. “Hello, Rory.”
opheliaxlangdon:
Escort? Oh God, no, Lia made more than those woman could ever dream of. Being an adult star though did have it’s small likeness to the escort business. You were paid for sex. “Hmm,” she folded her arms across her chest, debating it. She was bored and really didn’t feel like going home where undoubtedly she’d run into the blonde male again. “Ophelia and friend level is fine. As long as you buy me a cup of coffee. And no arguments, we’re doing dinner but I’ll pay for that. I have reservations somewhere and eating with someone is better than eating alone right?”
Dominic couldn’t hold back the laugh that ensued due to her straight-forwardness. “You don’t let grass grow under your feet for anything, do you?” Mulling over her offer for a few seconds, Dom eventually nodded. “Alright, you’ve got yourself a deal. Can I know where we’re going, in case I have to dress up,” he jokingly asked, looking down at his clothing. “I’m already technically in a suit. If it gets any fancier than this, I’ll have to go buy a tie.”
londonboysquad :
“Fuck,” Micah mumbled under their breath. Their first day as acting owner while Evelyn was out of town, and things were not getting any easier. “Alright, have a nice day!” There were probably some cupcake they could stick these roses on, get them out of the way… They were torn from their thoughts as he approached once more, setting the tray aside and making their way to the counter. “Other businesses? We do deliveries, but only if you order more than 3 dozen of something, or spend over 50 pounds. Are you planning an event?”
Shaking his head in the negative again, Dom, who had grabbed a napkin from a nearby table to write down the name of the person the chocolates would be meant for and where they would be delivered to, explained that he would buy all of the dark chocolates that had been made, plus whatever else went well with them in case there wasn’t enough to meant the requirements of delivery. Handing the napkin to them, Dom double checked that they knew how it would go down. “Charge it to my account, and upon delivery, if she asks who sent them, it stays between us. She’s not to know.”
opheliaxlangdon:
“I get out plenty, but most of the time it’s with my partner in crime. This time it’s just me, they’re the one that plans where we go, what we do and most of the time who winds up in our bed if that answers the question any better.” Lia took the moment to blatantly look him over, humming in approval. “Well you could come with you know. Handcuffs are no fun, trust me, I know. What’s your name? And more importantly where are you headed now?”
Dominic was by no means ignorant, and it dawned on him quite suddenly that the woman he was speaking to was most likely a high end escort. Not his style. However she was still a person who didn’t deserve to be ignored for it, so while he wasn’t as flirty with her as he had been initially, he was still friendly. “I think I’ll pass on that offer, but I wouldn’t mind getting to know you; on a friend level. I’m Dominic, and since I have the day off, I’ve been spending the day around the city. I sometimes do this, go around London acting like a tourist. It’s really not that bad. You could join me, if you like. No pretenses, no expectations, no... hanky panky.”
opheliaxlangdon:
“Dubai can’t be that bad!” Lia scoffed slightly before looking at the book and then back to him. “Oh well I don’t think I need to 101 best places, maybe only four or five and they’ll probably be behind a closed hotel door unless whoever I’m with is feeling extra adventurous.” Clicking her tongue, Lia leaned in a bit. “Oh good looking, if I were seducing you? You’d already be wearing less clothing.”
“I take it you don’t get out much. I mean, how could you not at least know about the Walk of Faith? It’s terrifyingly brilliant looking. If I ever do go to Australia, that is a must on my list of things to experience.” Placing the book back in its spot on the shelf, Dom turned to face Lia. “I can’t thank you enough for showing me mercy. I really don’t feel like getting arrested for public indecency. That would just ruin my day.”
opheliaxlangdon:
“Never and yet you’re suggesting it,” Lia laughed and then ran a hand through her hair. “So you can’t tell me how the nightlife is and if there’s going to be available men to make you forget things. Shame. Though I have to say you’d be a good distraction.”
“Well, yes. It’s Melbourne,” he emphasised, like that got his point across without adding any actual reasoning. “With a name like that, it has to be the best. Dubai just sounds ridiculous.” Dom glanced over at Lia quickly, back to the travel books he was standing in front of to pick up a copy of 101 Best Places to Visit in Australia, before looking back to her, a hint of a grin on his face. “If I didn’t know better, I’d think you were trying to seduce me.”
londonboysquad:
“I have a major dilemma.” Micah produced a tray of chocolate roses, setting them on the counter of the bakery. Stressed didn’t even begin to describe how they felt, evident by the dark circles under their eyes, but they were making it work. “I made dark chocolate roses, not milk chocolate. Bride hates dark chocolate. Can I interest you in a free chocolate flower?” Sure, it had taken the better part of the day to make all these, but they had to start again, so might as well let someone enjoy the fruits of their labour.
Dom had been heading to the door after getting a bite to eat at the bakery when he was stopped by one of the employees and offered a free chocolate rose. Shaking his head no, Dom continued to leave when an idea came to him. Going back up to the counter, he got their attention again. “Sorry, sorry, I just wondered, you wouldn’t happen to deliver to other businesses, would you?”
opheliaxlangdon:
“Okay, serious question time, which place would you choose to go on a little vacation? Dubai or Melbourne.”
“Melbourne. There’s no doubt that Melbourne is the best,” Dom replied without a beat of hesitation, adding a second later, “Ignore the fact that I’ve never been there in my life.”
