life events are unfolding

in our lives and the lives of us as a whole

we are in a time of conservative compression

many nations are like this

separatism

abuse and exploitation

destruction of the planet

greed and corruption

it’s all happening to support the world we live in

weather we like it or not

also

right now it is winter

and the leaves have dropped

and many animals have abandoned us

and few plants are green

also

we know on this planet we live on

nearer the equator

things are still warm and sunny

and there are still many butterflies and birds and animals

right now

many flowers in bloom

forests where life is abundant

still

there are some

there are many

right now

not to mention

we’ve heard, we know

it is also summer somewhere

things are in full bloom of sun and heat

somewhere it is day right now

we know

the planet is changing

tectonic plates are moving

as the planet is turning and moving around the sun

and through space

also

we know right now

countless stars are burning

creating light and heat

coming right at us

we are receiving some of it

right now

countless events are unfolding on countless planets

moving through space and time in rates we cannot conceptualize

but just thinking about them

surely they are happening

either elaborate like life we know on this planet

or developing

as this planet has been for billions of years

as this universe has been since time uncountable

right now

this is happening

this is the reality

ever breath we take is rapidly moving around the room

in and out of any other living things there

and when the door opens

it’s mixing with the air

that’s passing in and out through all the plants of the world

all the oceans

all the animals and insects and birds

all the people

that each breath we take has countless particles in them

that have touched the insides of countless other living things

this incredible intimacy with all life

with every breath we make

even when sleeping

right now this is happening

this is the reality

right above us

ten feet

or a hundred

is outside

and above that

is the sky

and above that

is eternity

right there

so close

going on forever

the light and heat and unsayable radiations of all the stars and galaxies and things yet to be and since long gone

forever

is right above our heads

mixing with the air we are breathing

consciously or unconsciously

and we are resting

right now

on the earth

held down by a force we don’t fully understand

that’s holding everything together

like our back on the bed

or our feet on the ground

or our skin together

our organs in place

we can feel this

we can relax into it

we can be thankful

it’s the truth

it’s real

decisions are being made in governments

some we hear about

others we don’t

like the rustling of leaves

around the bases

of trees lying dormant for the winter

or in the branches of trees who haven’t slept for thousands of years

even if you’ve not heard them

life beyond your imagining

in the next building to you

and under the soil

and deep in the ocean

and in another country

and in some other place unexplainable in the universe

is burgeoning

telling stories you’ll never know

that are just as true as the ones you know right now

or used to know

and have already forgotten

or never knew

just as true

and life has gone on

life enough to have made you

healthy and strong

and eventually weak old and dead

beyond the decisions you make

and the actions you take

these things have happened and will happen

and are happening now

and you can relax into it

regardless of what decisions you make right now

abundant life beyond anything we can imagine

is happening

and is ok

is wondrous

is just fine

and will be

and you can relax into this

it’s true

check it

see if you can feel it

and relax into it

and be grateful for it

and breathe into it

knowing it’s just as you as anything else you imagine

that you couldn’t live with out it

you are made of it

just as everything else it

it’s just as much you

as anything else is

and you can say

“i love you”

and you can feel that spread from you

to everything and anything

anything that is anything is you

just as much as it’s me

and you can receive my love for you

authentic and true

true as anything you see on tv

or in the sky

you can feel it warm in your body

pumping thorough your veins

and you can relax into it

be grateful you’re here

in this moment

where so many amazing things are happening

and it’s ok

you’re ok

right now

and probably long after you’re gone too

just like all was before you came to be

December 17th - a rescue plan

Some good news, I’ve been talking to two developers now and got them working together, we just had a meeting with the guys behind an existing large (millions of users) site similar to Tumblr, with a vibrant and open-minded community, and more importantly, it has open-minded owners who believe in free speech. They think we can get something done here to rescue the whole community.

I’m not allowed to reveal the site name yet. I can tell you it’s mainstream, open to everyone, open-minded and welcoming. (It’s not WordPress or any site owned by Facebook or Twitter. It’s not Pillowfort, that’s in closed beta. It’s not Ello, that’s mainly for artists. It’s not kinkspace or fetlife, those are too specialist. It’s not jux, that seems to be closed. It’s not Soup, that seems still in development and too small.)

One of the reasons for delaying the announcement for next few days is they don’t want a “land grab” where people take the names of current popular Tumblr users over there (cyber squatting). So they are looking at ways for existing Tumblr users to keep the same names on the new site.

More info over the days to come.

The plan is, broadly:

1. By December 9th-10th, further details of the new site and how to secure your username there

2. An online tool for bloggers to copy their existing content to the new site automatically, with the same tags and captions.

3. Bloggers will need to copy their content across between December 11th and December 17th if they want to use the automatic tool.

4. My understanding is that after December 17th there will be no public access to any “flagged” posts on Tumblr, but the original poster will still be able to see the flagged post (for a short time at least). Therefore, the original poster may still be able to manually download a post to their own PC or phone, after December 17th, and manually upload it to the other site. But if you have lots of posts that will take a long time, it will be better to use the automatic tool before December 17th.

Please understand that these dates are approximate and may change for technical or other reasons.

There may be a few rough edges or not so perfect looking site design on the transfer tool. Everyone is doing their best. The main goal here is to help as many people as possible preserve access to their content, in the short space of time Tumblr has allowed us, and preserve as much as possible of the Tumblr community spirit somewhere new.

The new site will cater for photo, GIF, text and html posts. It will not offer video and audio posts, due to cost reasons - maybe in future, but for now you will need to preserve video and audio content yourself in some other place.

If your Tumblr blog has a mixture of original content and reblogs, or all reblogs, all of that can be copied over to the new site. Reblogs will become “your” original content if nobody else posted them yet, otherwise they will be shown as reblogs. The devs are looking at ways to preserve attribution of reblogs back to the original Tumblr poster, if that person also moves to the new site.

Important: your Likes cannot be copied from Tumblr to the new site. You will have to go find the same posts again on the new site, and like them afresh.

(Similarly, existing reblog comments, asks, messages and other user interaction on Tumblr cannot be copied to the new site - that’s just too much to do, in the short time available.)

If you want to preserve any of your existing Liked posts on Tumblr, you will need to either: (1) download the post to your own PC, or: (2A) reblog it now to your own Tumblr blog, and then (2B) use the automatic tool, before December 17th, to move your whole Tumblr blog across to the new site.

If you have Liked a lot of posts here on Tumblr, the gridllr.com webapp should be able to help you do steps 1 and 2A quickly, I mean download or reblog.

(Someone complained to me today about the appearance of Gridllr on a phone. It’s best to use Gridllr on a PC, Mac or Tablet with a large screen.)

If you have liked a post here on Tumblr and the original poster decides to delete it, or even to delete their entire blog, some time before December 17th, then that post will be permanently lost. So if you want to be sure to preserve any of your Liked posts, you should best download or reblog as soon as possible. If it’s reblogged to your own blog it is safe from deletion, at least for next few days.

Obviously, you will lose access, after December 17th, to all past posts you have liked, if Tumblr has flagged them as NSFW. Again, the steps (1), or (2A) and (2B) covered above will be the only way to hold on to these posts.

All the cows were falling out of the sky and landing in the mud. You were drinking sangria and I was throwing oranges at you, but it didn’t matter. I said my arms are very long and your head’s on fire. I said kiss me here and here and here And you did. Then you wanted pasta, so we trampled out into the tomatoes and rolled around to make the sauce. You were very beautiful. We were in the Safeway parking lot. I couldn’t find my cigarettes. You said Hurry up! but I was worried there would be a holdup And we would be stuck in a hostage situation, hiding behind the frozen meats, with nothing to smoke for hours. You said Don’t be silly, so I followed you into the store. We were thumping the melons when I heard somebody say Nobody move! I leaned over and whispered in your ear I told you so. There was a show on the television about buried treasure. You were trying to convince me that we should buy shovels and go out into the yard and I was trying to convince you that I was a vampire. On the way to the hardware store I kept biting your arm and you said if I really was a vampire I would be biting your neck, so I started biting your neck and you said Cut it out! and you bought me an ice cream, and then we saw the UFO. These are the dreams we should be having. I shouldn’t have to clean them up like this. You were lying in the middle of the empty highway. The sky was red and the sand was red and you were wearing a brown coat. There were flecks of foam in the corners of your mouth. The birds were watching you. I took a shower and tried to catch my breath. You were lying on top of the bedspread in boxer shorts, watching cartoons and laughing but not making any sound. Oh, the things we invent when we are scared and want to be rescued. Your jeep. Your teeth. The coffee that you bought me. The sandwich cut in half on the plate. I woke up and ate ice cream in the dark, hunched over on the wooden chair in the kitchen, listening to the rain. I borrowed your shoes and didn’t put them away. You were crying and eating rice. The surface of the water was still and bright. Your feet were burning so I put my hands on them, but my hands were burning too. You had a bottle of pills but I wouldn’t let you swallow them. You said Will you love me even more when Im dead? And I said No, and I threw the pills on the sand. Look at them, you said. They look like emeralds. I put you in a cage with the ocelots. I was trying to fatten you up with sausages and bacon.

Somehow you escaped and climbed up the branches of a pear tree. I chopped it down but there was nobody in it. I went to the riverbed to wait for you to show up. You didn’t show up. I kept waiting.

I took this picture here in Barcelona April 16, 2006 i was very proud of these pictures when i took them and thought of them as i have walked around town this visit so hunted them down to share now there was some bear event happening and i was not feeling like being in the bar i went walking and was mesmerized by the Plaza de Espania and this street was a glorious promenade to these stairs leading up the mountain to a big palace ( i learned this trip that this road is called Avinguda de la Reina Maria Cristina ) i set my camera in the middle of the road and played with settings over many hours the first one sitting the next one after walking up the stairs and back down with much more movement the moon was almost full and conjunct Jupiter which was so bright you can see it in these images! you can read my livejournal post about it here https://dominicvine.livejournal.com/157720.html pics posting of that day: https://dominicvine.livejournal.com/159447.html
